Red panda?
A a darker shade of the primary color on the legs and belly, a striped tail, and a light/dark mask on the face.

Something like that maybe? It would be fairly simplistic but eye catching enough to be a gene. I imagine that for the darker colors maybe it can be adjusted a little, like with Clown, but it's something.

Nobody has suggested king cheetahs yet, and I feel that this is unsatisfactory.

How about stone? Make the dragon look like it's primary coloring is made of stone, even concrete or marble. I imagine cracks and some chips in it. It would look good in all colors. It probably should be matte though just so it doesn't look too much like the Iridescent gene. Or even rock candy inspiration since it's the color of the rainbow already.
It also opens up the possibility for a complementing secondary gene.
Yeah, I know about the Gembond gene but a stone/rock texture could be less intense in detail.

ok so how about this
(it is a lot more work for artist)
but how about a "big cat" gene
where the breed of the cat depends on the color of the dragon
ex
maize get lions or cheetahs , white-silver get a snow leopard print, grey-coal "black leopards". black-shadow get a lion print. ect.
obviously leave out the tiger genes

Charmens: A good idea, but let's be kind to the artists ;) That'd be very, very time consuming.
