Toad maybe?
This is a sort of quick mock-up of the gene I did for female skydancers.
The lighter grey that matches the belly includes the dorsal stripe, and the blueish would be colored in an alternate color(taken from possibly the poi/tox or skink/spinner palette), like the bumps on toads.

And I personally stared at my own toad for inspiration, but here's some images you could draw from. And Uh, the FR tumblr community liked it so I decided to post here.
These are links to examples of what I mean:

And the (adult) males could have the darker throat coloring, like male toads have.

I really like this and the pattern looks really cool! Although it looks like it would take a long while to for every color I think it’d be worth it

Has anyone ever suggested paisley?
There are probably purists who think that genes should look "natural", but given that we've already got filigree I think that ship has already sailed.

This gene, in my eyes, has to be part of a primary/secondary pair and added to the site ASAP.

It would be cool to have a stained glass primary. Where different shaped/sized pieces of different shades of a colour come together in a stained glass formation.

I think a gene pair like tapir and striation without the stripes, just fading colors would be neat. Also something similar to freewifi's idea! @freewifi your idea is beautiful! I support it.

I'm making another gene suggestion, and it turns out it's been two years and four days the last one, Venom tert!
This is a Primary/Secondary set, but with the primary being more prominent, I'll post them here.

This set of genes is based primarily on the primitive markings of horses, commonly called 'dun factor', and typical of wild horses.
It shares a colour palette with Python and Morph (I only saw one colour with an issue -- maize) and has three colours, light, medium, and dark.
The corresponding colours were colour-picked on a male coatl from the tip of the second, darkest, wing feather (1/dark), the eyebrow (2/medium), and the shoulder horns (3/light).
It's pretty much impossible for a gene to look good in every colour, and it's true with this suggestion, too; you can see it performs best on high-contrast colours to bring out the dark elements, and also on warm and neutral colour ranges.
This is the type of 'natural' gene I'd love to have more of -- not explicitly patterns copied directly from real animals, but rather ones that look like they could be at home in reality.
This didn't actually start out as a gene suggestion but that's what it turned into since I've been visualising a suggestion like this for a while.
Note: the pearl wasn't intended to be coloured, I made an error and it's not worth fixing since we know what a 'default' pearl looks like.
Dun and Equus are shown on a pearlcatcher due to the implied equine traits in the breed, but they could also work particularly well on tundras as well as translating just fine to fully scaly breeds.

I think it’s very cool but Equus reminds me a little too much of Safari. Can we get a comparison @lokenosse?

not sure how it would work with darker colors but translucent partially see through not the gory kind but like those clear skinned frogs blurred out to avoid setting off the gore censor weird as crap but kinda cool... Especially for the people who want to see what these dragons look like on the inside...
