I don't know if this has been suggested or not, but what about a Primary gene that resembles this badger? You can use the same color schemes that are already used for the Savannah gene to make sure it's compatible, but essentially, the markings would result in a darker color on the dragon's stomach, a lighter one on the back, a dark color that matches the belly on the legs that extends beyond the elbow, and a striking contrast of markings on the dragon's face.

Primary/secondary ideas:
Tattoo and Imprint
(or Glyphs and Sigils, or whatever)
Designed to complement Runes, without overpowering it.
Tattoo and Imprint
(or Glyphs and Sigils, or whatever)
Designed to complement Runes, without overpowering it.
- They cover the dragon's body and wings with darker or lighter (or accent-colored) markings with the same geometric shape as Runes, as if they were letters in the same language
- To avoid clashing with Runes, they don't glow, and they're slightly bigger (larger blocks of color spread out across the dragon's wings and body, as opposed to tiny scribble-looking things that would just look really busy)
- The rune shapes can either be arranged in crisscrossing lines, or loops and swirls, or just random placement like alphabet soup
- The primary would be designed to avoid clashing with the placement of Runes, but still look good on dragons with Basic or other terts: it would cover the "false underbelly" area that Runes outlines
- Some colors would produce interesting "accent color" effects like the ones you see in Poison and Toxin, but there would also be colors that just look really muted, like tattoos that have faded or darkened over time - so you could get a variety of looks with these genes

I'd be down for a gene that has a sort of bone-like pattern on it, with maybe some underlying mottling where the organs would be and around the eye sockets.

First time giving this a shot but... how about a wolf or dog like coat pattern.

Oh I like this one! It might be a little odd having a furry pattern on non-furry dragons... But it looks great.

!!!!!

I love this idea! Furrrrrrrr!!
Call it Agouti! Agouti being a real gene in many animals that causes each strand of fur to be lighter at the base and darker at the tip, resulting in that "wolf" looking design.

This is a good thought towards a new gene and it would fit well with the ice flight and animal themed genes that seem to be a thing right now with Jaguar, Tiger, and etc that are all animal themed.

I found this on google but what about a gene that's like these cats?

I think it could be really neat, especially if it was designed as a counterpart to thylacine (which is a gene I LOVE btw)
@CrazyRedFire
Oh my gosh, are those real cats? That looks amazing! I'd love a gene similar to that pattern! Would look great on wavy watery dragons, fierce dragons, more mystic-type dragons, and all sorts of other cool dergs.

The RNG taketh, and the RNG taketh more. The RNG does not give.

Okay, bear with me because this is my first fake gene -- ever. I've drawn accents before, so this is pretty much how I decided to go about this. This is a rough rough rough markup because I have no idea how to create fake genes.
So, I decided to run with @\terhothyl's idea of the Runes compliments. This is what I came up with, in Silver.

I made other examples like these, but because I couldn't figure out how best to change the belly color, they may look a tad off.

These are most definitely not the best, but they are a rough markup if any better artists wanna undertake this idea!

This probably would be time consuming but a like a tree bark primary gene? Something that makes the skin look like bark on a tree trunk. The best part about this is that you could also make a 'leaves' secondary gene and then the dragon would look like a tree. You also could make a tertiary gene like 'flowers' or 'fruit' to go with it, but that sounds kind of silly.

IDK IF THIS IS A REALLY GOOD IDEA BUT I'D LOVE TO SEE A JELLY/GOO TYPE TEXTURE GENE
LIKE IT WOULD LOOK SOMEWHERE BETWEEN METALLIC IRIDESCENT BUT SOFTER, MORE GLOSSY?? MAN IDK I JUST REALLY WANT JELLY DRAGONS ILY <3

This gene is spectacular! I've seen a lot of requests for galaxy genes, and I think this would work nicely.
