My only concern is it might be incredibly difficult to make this work with existing apparel, but the aesthetics of it are amazing

Dear staff, can we get a tert that is JUST the sparkly bits (the dots and stars) of starmap and constellation? It would be lovely to overlay those genes with differently colored stars, and it would still work with other genes :-) Yes, it would look like firefly, but minus the issues with dressing dragons and glow outside of the dragon's lines. Call it galaxy or nebula.
