Lately, though, times have been rough. Prey is scarce, as more and more Twolegs have devoted themselves to getting rid of the rodents living in the abandoned buildings. The remaining Clans live in fear and uncertainty. While they still maintain some level of hostility towards each other, the anxiety that they share has tied them together in this time of strife. ~Vixenstrike~
Location: TallClan camp | Interacting with: Open

Vixenstrike awoke early in the morning, just before dusk. She was hoping to lead the dusk patrol that day. Stepping around her fellow sleeping warriors, she kept her bushy tail high. Once outside of the den, she peered around her. Not many cats were up and about at this hour. Padding over to the freshkill pile, which was a little sorrowful at the moment, she grabbed a scrawny sparrow, wanting to get her strength up yet still leave enough food for the Clan. As she chewed on the stringy bird's wing, she waited for the rest of the Clan to awaken. She was especially eager to see Flamestrike. She was hoping to ask him about patrol leading. Despite Vixenstrike wanting his role, she still respected and admired the deputy.

~Seedpaw~
Location: OpenClan camp | Interacting with: Open

Seedpaw was still asleep in the medicine den. He was definitely not a night cat. Besides, he had stayed up late yesterday rearranging the whole medicine supply! The whole thing! Can you believe that? When he was finally done, he had complained to his sister, Willowpaw. She told him to "shut up and go to sleep, it's past sunhigh!" So he had, collapsing on his moss nest as soon as he got there. And there he was still.

~Zima~
Location: RotClan camp | Interacting with: Open

Zima had visited her brother, Moroz, the day before. It was her first time seeing him in half a moon. She felt she deserved to see him. It felt so good to talk in their native language for once, despite it not being much different from this region's dialect of cat. They had bonded over their adventures and had shared tongues. Getting used to RotClan had been hard, but in the end she decided she liked the group. Every time she went out she rolled in mud and then splashed in a puddle to get the scent of loner off her, as well as caught a few pieces of prey. The other cats often questioned why she was wet, and she said she liked the water, which was true. "Oh, it's just Zima being weird again," They'd mutter. But she didn't care. Now she was sleeping, although the harsh rays of sun soon subsided from the den, waking her up.

~Cookie~
Location: In an old abandoned twoleg nest | Interacting with: Open

Cookie had been playing with his food. He knew what his mother would say to that. His bright green gaze followed the poor young rat as he batted it between his paws lazily. The creak of a door made his ears swivel to the entrance of his den, and he swiftly killed the rat with a bite to the neck before turning around.
"Well, what's a pretty young tom like you doing in a place like this?" Cookie purred to the blue cat that just peeked his head around the corner.
"I am looking for... someone." Said the cat, with a deep, accented voice. "She look like me. Blue. Blue eyes. Young. Have you seen her?"
Cookie batted the air playfully, his eyes glinting. "And why should I help you?"
"Please! She is lost!" A hint of desperation crept into the other cat's voice. Clearing his throat, he said in a calmer tone "Everyone else said .come to you for find anything. They say you have eyes everywhere."
"Oh, I certainly do, my little kitty." Cookie said, rolling over. "But I don't reveal information easily. Not without a price." He hissed the last words menacingly.
"What do you want? I can get." The stranger said.
"Oh, just a little bit of servitude, just a little." The tortoiseshell tom replied as if it were no big deal. These kind of desperate cats were his favorite to deal with.
"I will... consider." Said the blue cat. "I will come back later." He seemed wary, and left the den in a bit of a hurry.
"Oh, I know you will, honey." Cookie muttered as the cat left. "They always do."

Scratch

Scratch was sitting on top of the roof of the brick building, it was his favorite spot to observe. His ears twitched at every new sound weither he knew what it was or not. A yawn escaped his mouth and he started to groom himself, even if he did not have fur he still thought it was necessary.

Tatterstar || Rotclan || Leader || Vinetail, Duskpelt

The scents early afternoon clung to Tatterstar's fur as they padded back into camp, the sun inching down into the city skyline behind them. The limp brown rat in their jaws swung into their chest as they moved-- silently, purposefully-- towards the small Rotclan freshkill pile.

So the last hunting patrols were as successful as I was... they thought, setting the rat down and looking back at the bodies of their clanmates in the early morning gloom.

Tatterstar took a slow, deep breath and scented the air-- catching the mold and dust and mildew of Rotclan camp. Smell they had grown so accustomed to that it would have been impossible to describe them. Then came Vinetail's scent. The sharp panging smell of pain and... fear?

Tatterstar moved through the dim light towards the shape of the injured, old medicine cat and looked around to see if Duskpelt was watching over him. Vinetail looked so heavy lying there-- Tatterstar could hardly remember the cat they'd known all of their life, the Vinetail who was energetic even in his old age. Closing their eyes, Tatterstar felt worry twist inside them.

The silence of the camp was almost crushing.

"Duskpelt," they called out softly, "Has Vinetail said anything recently?"

Milkfur || Tallclan || Medicine Cat || Vixenstrike

"Rats and rot, it's sundown already," Milkfur yawned as a shaft of fading sunlight moved across his closed eyes.

The Medicine Cat lifted himself off the ground, pulling himself into a long, exaggerated stretch that was accompanied by another, matching yawn. Then he opened his eyes, blinking at the dusty orange light creeping into Tallclan's camp.

From the highest floor of the abandoned building, Milkfur could see much of the city and watched the distant shapes of Twolegs stumbling out into the streets-- their shadows fading into them as the sun set. From here they all looked like strange, flightless birds and Milkfur purred to himself at the comparison.

"That's clever," he said to himself, "He'll enjoy that one-- Even though he'll wonder if I've been poking my nose into Twoleg business."

Something struck Milkfur and he squinted up at the sky,

"Do you ever go about poking your collective, bossy whiskers into Twoleg business?" his whiskers twitched, "Seems like the Starclan thing to do... Overstepping like that. Meddling in everything."

A laugh and he quickly groomed himself-- His paws were getting stained again.

"All that picking through blackberry bushes," he said, beginning to climb down to the floor where freshkill was stored, "Should be a job designated for cats with darker pelts."

Not many of his clanmates had risen-- tired, Milkfur figured, from the past nights of hunting-- But he did see Vixenstrike chewing on a sparrow wing. He trotted over to the she-cat and peered down at the small selection of prey,

"Looks like you warriors need to commit to that whole catching things for the clan to eat thing," he said, his voice flitting back and forth between teasing and actual criticism as he sniffed as a scrawny dove fledgeling.
