Yesterday’s answer was Lingonberry!!

[*]
[*]Lingonberry Jam gets added to a wide range of food, but it’s very common with meat dishes.
[*]Lingonberries grow in both Eurasia and North America, but they only thrive in cold weather. They can survive temperatures as low as -40c/f !
[*]Because it has such a wide range there are a ton of different names for this. It’s scientific name is Vaccinium vitis-idaea, and I had to google any answer that didn’t say “Lingonberry” to check if it was the same plant. Props to @iMoony for sending in the scientific name!
[*]Lingonberries look a lot like Cranberries, so they were the ‘more popular cousin’ I meant. They’re both from the Vaccinium plant genus, which also makes them related to blueberries and huckleberries. Shout out to @Cranberrygrace for both getting the right answer and for making me snort when I saw your name xD

About today’s image...
Life caught up with today, so I’m behind and playing catch up with a couple of things. So, no new image today, BUT that doesn’t mean there’s no daily prize!
To get credit just tell me what your favorite jam/jelly is; no wrong answer here! Use the form HERE and just write your favorite under “What do you think today's image is?” You get totally useless bonus points if you talk about your favorites on the thread here, just because I think that’d be fun

I really like strawberry jam but I also love preserves, especially homemade fig preserves!

Apricot. Bonus if it's combined with others - I've had apricot-peach for double the Prunus sp. love!
My mom makes one delicious jam with strawberries and rhubarb. Her red currant and raspberry jam is also great!
Fun fact: Just after I finished writing my jam poem for the poetry contest, the sweet scent of berries filled the house... Yes, indeed, my mom chose that day to take some leftover raspberries from the freezer and make some jam. What a coincidence!

We have a cornelian cherry growing in our garden which I think was 'planted' by birds because I can't remember anyone buying it but we have it for many years so I don't really know anymore. My mum always makes jam out of the friuts in late summer. When they are raw they taste rather nasty but the jam is the best! Its the perfect combination of fruity and sour and has a very special taste. No other fruit can compare to it. (If any I'd say cranberry?)
