Fantastic food is a typical staple around Sornieth’s elemental festivals. It’s pretty much a given whether it’s local dishes prepared by the host flight, or a variety of exotic cuisine guests make themselves.
But for a festival celebrating Baldwin and his alchemic achievements? More than a handful of dragons shiver at the memory of the assorted soylents their resident alchemists bring back, and the tent proclaiming “Alchemical Cookin'” is skirted around.
Eventualy a somewhat altered looking Bogsneak clambers out of the tent, and climbs a ladder to tack on another sign: “ENDING THE STIGMA AGAINST ALCHEMIC COOKING!”
Not too long after a third sign goes up: "SERIOUSLY NO SOYLENT HERE!
The crystalline dragon from earlier perks up eagerly as someone finally ventures into her tent. “Hello!” She calls out eagerly, bounding forward. “Are you here to help demonstrate that soylent isn’t the end all with edible alchemy? Do you want to try your hand at non-traditional methods in the kitchen? Do you want to help me prove a point to the head chef back home that I can absolutely do dinner for the clan from time to time?!”
Without waiting for an answer she beckons them out through the back of the tent, leading to a decently sized, open air kitchen space. Except instead of traditional appliances and tools there appears to be cauldrons of various sizes and equipment. And over in what appears to be the pantry there are great quantities of not typically edible materials mixed in amongst the regular food.
“Just holler ‘Malachite’ if you need anything!” She says cheerfully, leaving the
“.....Mostly.”
Overview
Welcome to Alchemical Cookin'! You’ve found your way to Baldwin's Bash’s little real life cooking contest, inspired by different aspects of Baldwin’s Brewing! Don’t worry, despite my clan alchemist’s overeager introduction, you won’t have to use real alchemy in your entries! Traditional cooking methods are just fine here.
More detailed rules can be found below, but let me repeat that this is a real life cooking contest. RP is not mandatory (though it’s always fun to submit recipes in character!) Contestants will be able to submit entries from when this event opens on Sept. 3 up to rollover on Sept. 10th (one day after the Bash ends because I had a bit of a late start opening).
Judging will then take place over the following week and results will be announced no later Sept. 17 (but possibly sooner if all the judges get their scores turned in before then!)
If you have any questions whatsoever about the contest or need clarification on the rules, please don’t hesitate to ping or PM @Eialyne.
Rules
- This contest is open to everyone! The obvious exception being the judges.
- You may enter one dish, however the dish can qualify for multiple categories. I will make sure each entry gets into all categories it qualifies for on our judging forms.
- You can only submit dishes you have made yourself. To help verify this, please submit at least one picture of the finished dish with your username and ID number somewhere visible in the photo.
- While the dish doesn't have to be one you developed entirely from scratch, do not simply copy/paste the recipe from the original source. Write it up in your own words!
- On a similar note, not everything in your dish has to be made from scratch, but we need to see that some sort of effort went into it. Decorating a cake from a box mix with your own design would get more points than heating up a frozen pizza and calling it a day.
- You may edit your recipe in order to correct typos and other errors, but once a dish is submitted you can not change your recipe to something else. (Example: You can add in a step you forgot in your Cupcakes recipie, but you can't change your recipe from "Cupcakes" to "Roast Beef")
When submitting your recipe, please use this form:
