(No scries because this is The End)
The nest was already abandoned when a single egg hatched. A hatchling stumbled out, shuddering from the cold, still weak on its legs. It shook the eggshells from its body and tripped over the remaining eggs, that all felt cold to the touch.
The world around the hatchling was dark, devoid of light. There were no adults surrounding it, no loving family to crawl to. Nobody that could tell it where it was. What it was. It just... wobbled along in the dark. Until there was no more road underneath its feet.
-----
As the hatchling opened its eyes, the world still was dark. But there was warmth. And there were sounds. Voices. So it listened.
"I'm not sure what happened, but it seems that the hatchling is born blind.", a gruff voice said. Somewhere in its head, the hatchling made the connection between only seeing darkness and whatever this other dragon was saying. A paw touched its forehead. "There's also quite a lot of magical residue in this body. It doesn't look too good, the survival chance might be small.", the voice continued. From far away, the hatchling could hear someone huffing. "That's what they said about Thavma, too."
For a moment, the hatchling couldn't hear anything. So, it decided to try speaking for itself. But all that came out of his throat was a hoarse and mellow "Yi...".
It felt like the whole world was looking at him. "Seems like residue of a curse to me.", the voice far away said. "If it's residue, that means this one's not cursed though. It probably dispelled it somehow." The voice that was closer hmm'ed and another, third voice growled lowly. "Well you're the bloody expert, aren't you. What did it do?"
There was no answer. Until the growling got louder. "Alright, alright. Curses like these usually get dispelled as soon as the dragon leaves everything up to fate. It sounds easy, but is surprisingly difficult to do. That's why they're so popular. I haven't seen such a young victim yet though. It probably ran in the family. But it's dispelled now, so it shouldn't pose for any more problems." The growling stopped.
"Will the blindness heal?"
"I hope not, it probably saved this young one from a life of being cursed."
Silence once more, the hatchling tried to lift its head. Tried to move. It tried to do something.
"I'm taking it home with me.", the growling dragon seemed to be resolute. Nothing could change her plan. And so, the hatchling was taken to a home that he almost never had.

redoing this soon
In my last post you met my second generation. Today, their nest hatched - ah well, yesterday actually, but RNG had me nest them in water and it was late at my place, and so you´re going to meet them now! Generation 3, which means all names start with "D", is three hatchlings strong:
Diva, firstborn and only girl of the clutch

Oilslick Jaguar | Lead Eye Spots | Obsidian Basic
two upgrades and my favorite color-wise =D
I really love how all three managed to get Jaguar over Piebald, even if that means it´ll be tough finding them mates with one step up in each category and a name starting with D... but well, that is what challenges are for, right? Looking forward to sending them to the Coliseum, I want to know who will be my heir as they all have their charms.

As both boys had the same gene rarity, I already got the mate ahead of schedule.

The unnecessarily lovely Shala.
I'm not sure if she'll end up leaving once she's done her part, to be honest.
(Also, she was a bit more costly than I'd have liked, like about 20kt, but she was the only one that would work)

Hello all :D I've decided I'd like to try this challenge!
I have these two as my founders:
Ironheart:

Magpie:

They cost 9K and 10K, respectively, and since I kind of jumped the gun a bit there, I seriously hope these two are ok to use as founders... :/
After introducing my little ones five days ago, today is their big showoff day!
As a reminder, here they are again - courtesy of the Scying workshop:

Sending them off to the Training Fields for a little practice proved to be an exciting enjoyment for the three siblings. They seem to be natural born fighters, and knowing how to make camp out there (and being healed back up on level ups) didn´t make matters go faster. So they battled for quite some while, getting scratched up good and healing back up again - especially Dorian got pushed to the brink of fading more than once, but always managed to fight himself back up on his claws again.
But well, finally, a lighntning fast chipskink felled the weakened Dorian, leaving his older siblings to continue on their own... And if it hadn´t been for all the things they learned, Diva would´ve fallen next. But the dragons learned, and so it was Derrek who finally fell, leaving his sister as the heir for this generation [s](and thus the only dragon with only one upgrade, sometimes I hate rng) [/s].
So here she is, in all her glory:

And it´s time to go looking for a suitable mate:

Well, I like his colors. His genes are - a bit far flung, but he has been named starting with D, so that has to count for something, right? Right. Sop see you alll - much, much later, once I can breed this little Dustling =D
