Meet Haki: Obsidian/Obsidian/Denim Skink/Spinner/Crackle and (I think) my most expensive purchase yet. ^^; they'll be ready to nest in just under three weeks.

Although he doesn't fit the "aesthetics" I was going for so he's not quite a win, I actually find him pretty, even with the genes that are usually iffy for me! He looks like an Lisa Frank imp--he's really rocking the poison/hypno with those bright pink colors!. The only thing off with him IMO is the tert color which clashes a little. I see myself keeping him around for a long time!
In fact I'm so thrilled I'm actually going to go through the effort to keep track of points:
Fiddlesticks: Two colors pleasant with each other, three genes pleasant with each other, heir: 8
Other hatchling 1: 2 colors, 2 genes: 2
Hatching 2: 2 genes: 2.
Total for first gen: 12 points!
Now to go find a mate~

My thinking:
Imps are my favorite, Coatl is a close second, so either way I'm getting a breed of dragon I love.
Since I really like Fiddlestick's colors, this makes sure the heir is going to be pink and has a better chance of having colors that'll look nice together.
Since I like the colors, it makes sense to focusing on getting genes I like better. Hypo in particular has to go. This makes sure I keep Underbelly (a gene I love) plus the rarity of her other genes meshes well enough that there's a good chance I'll get genes I like better.
I've never had an XXX dragon and the novelty appealed to me oops.
Here's hoping this pair works out!

Generation 3 were born to Zhao and Hyacinth this morning, three bouncing boys. Let's take a look shall we?
Firstborn Doane isn't bad. I am not a huge fan of male Snappers, and contour is just weird on them, but the colours are alright (I really love the cherry ripple) and he's quite cute, despite the slightly clashy vermillion tertiary. He was the only one to inherit ripple and contour, but I don't mind that he won't be my heir.

If Jek had been born last and as a girl, my challenge would have been over. Three of my favourite reds in one dragon, the genes and colours all look lovely together and he inherited stripes, which I like more than hex. I don't usually care for okapi on Snappers, but here the crimson mingles so nicely with the sanguine. I wish he was my heir, but alas...

The honour of heir goes to this horrid piece of work, Nigel. He's the only Spiral, so no breed change for me. I am thankful that he's MAINLY reddish, but of course he is the only one who inherited some pink. I can't express how much I despise pinks and reds together and this is just...ugly. Strawberry and berry could have been okay, although I prefer deeper reds, but that bubblegum tertiary is too obvious to be ignored. Yuck. The good news is that the challenge will definitely continue!

His mate is Ilyana, the cheapest triple gene female in the AH. She's okay, I like that she might bring gembond to the table, although her iri/shimmer will ensure that falcon and hex won't be going anywhere next generation (I don't mind). Their offspring will be interesting, but have a high chance of pinks, of course. Maybe some day I'll get away from that colour palette. Sigh.
