Hey all, with this welcome week here I decided to make this Masterpost thread. Get tired of seeing people screaming about fae necks and bogsneak fin debates every week? Me too. I thought perhaps having a detailed place with all known anatomy questions would be nice.
NOTE: This isn't for mixtakes or bugs like stray pixels that need fixed. This is for actual anatomy in the official artwork.

Let us do this by breeds, starting with our superstar, Female Fae.
FEMALE FAE NECK:
See that bump? That is the neck, part of her neck is folded back because she is twisting her head around to look over her shoulder. It is not an art error, the anatomy just looks a little wonky with the pose. Faes have long necks to balance out their long tails. Items like the healer's callings, arctic coats, choker pendents and such will show up on that park of the neck, so beware what you buy to dress up your dragon is it bothers you!
EXAMPLES: (Click the links)
1: Arctic Coats
2: Healer Callings
3: Choker Pendent
-
MALE FAE ARMS:
Thought not near as prevalent as the female, male fae also from time to time get their leg situation pointed out. People get confused over if his legs are before his arms or between them, or if there is an actual error with the lineart.
In reality, his bottom torso is bent so his far hind leg is in-between his front arms, and it covers up the elbow to his farthest arm. The top line of his thigh and bottom line of his closer arm match perfectly, which while looks odd, is not an art error. I redlined it here to show what I mean (fun fact, this also shows Fae do have thumbs, as you can see a tiny thumb finger on his farthest hand)
FAE BUG EYES ON BOTH:
Last of the fae anatomy points, something that isn't noticed a lot but a user did make a nice observation. Fae have large buggy eyes, and that may cause confusion in thinking the lineart is messed up.
-
MALE GUARDIAN CLAWS ON TAIL:
This isn't a big one either, but it gets pointed out a few times a year. Male Guards have the unfortunate accident of stepping on their own tails.
Using items like the Glowing Clawtips WILL affect it, so be warned. Your Guardian boy will always be stepping on his tail unless you cover the tail itself (Tail Wraps, Armor etc)
-
IMPERIAL WHISKERS AND BEARDS:
Imps are weird., females especially, but the main thing pointed out is the true number of whiskers, and if females have a beard like the males.
MALES:
FEMALES:
For some reason females have 6 whiskers while males have 4, but males have a very long beard while females' beards are very small, almost just a chin tuft of hair.
-
IMPERIALS CONT. TOES AND FEETS:
So another thing people talk about is, how many toes do Imps have, do they have thumbs? And what is with the female's back feet.
Toe wise, Imps have 4 toes on both front and back feet. It is hard to tell about thumbs however.
Pretty safe to say they have three fingers and a thumb finger, however they might not have the same dexterity as say Wildclaws who have actual hands and are fully bipedal.
Now about those back toes of the girls...
From what I can tell, they have feet more in tune with a lizard. They are very flexible and able to swivel around with rather ease, and to us it looks painful.
It isn't the "big toe" either like in humans. It is just drawn odd and dangling down, the two outter toes are shorter than the two middle toes. I'd assume in Imps, their toes are made more from grasping like a bird or lizard.
Males hind toes look smaller because of the more forward angle, and because he is standing and putting pressure on them rather than free floating like the female.
-
MALE TUNDRA, IS IT A FOOT OR HAND?
Tundras get a lot of flack, which is sad because they are my favorite breed. Male Tundras in particular though do have a conspiracy. Is that a foot paw or hand paw..?
Lets take a closer look.
Hmm.
When you get right down to it, no one really knows. Anatomy wise it could be either:
(Please excuse bad redline job here, I was in a rush) No matter how you cut it, he is still missing a leg somewhere, unless you follow to conspiracy trend of "Three Legged Tundras!" Anatomy wise it seems a bit more likely it is the hind leg, and that is also my honest thought. Staff have never said exactly, and.. art itself it depends upon the artist:
EDIT:
I found out there IS an official post that says it is the hind foot. Though again, apparel wise it totally depends on the artist who drew it ;;
-
MALE PEARLCATCHER WING:
The infamous wonder wing.
Why is it SO BIG? This one actually has a simple answer that staff have answered before. To fit a whole dragon on a canvas, they had to shorten and shrink how big the front wing was, the far wing in the back is the actual size Many breeds show this (Wildclaw females, Ridgeback of both genders, Imp males and Skydancer females)
Also courtesy to whoever did make that comparison image since I found it on an older thread.
BABY PEARLCATCHER EAR:
I was recently told about this and I can see where people would think.. "Wait WHAT."
See that lump by it's horn? That is an ear, not a mistake.
-
SKYDANCER WING FINGERS, ANTENNAE, AND TOES
So many people love our fellow bird dragons, so apologies if this ruins them for you. Lets start with the baby.
The baby has 4 wing fingers plus a wing thumb, four front toes and three back toes.
Ok good. Except not so good. Male Skydancers still have the correct number of wing fingers, but he seems to have grown another hind toe.
Females.. seem to have also grown a toe, but lost a wing finger in the process, right?
Well, not so fast. The wing joints don't add up correctly here.
Looking at the tips we see 4 in total, but the actual wing finger joints do not connect right with the claws.
The RED LINES are what we KNOW ARE WING FINGERS. You can obviously see where they start and end. The GREEN LINES are the unknown. By this, female Skydancers actually have a sixth wing finger somewhere. And another one is also hidden that they are supposed to have going by hatchling and male lineart. This is probably more of an actual art mistake, but looking at it, it really is interesting.
Quote from Parda explaining this better because idk how to explain wings. Thank you Parda.
Oh and one more thing, when grown male Skydancers gain an extra set of antennae.

BOGSNEAK FIN/WING DEBATE:
This one is the newest in breed drama. Do female Bogs have TWO head fins or one? Do males have two or it that a wing? Why this is a debate I am not sure as Undel has stated that males have TWO and females have ONE (In the official art)
However people still fight over it, so let us see.
With Contour we can cleary see the hidden far wing behind his body, with the contour edge line. The top far fin on his head LACKS THE LINE, just like he central fore head fin. We can also see this in Scales:
To simplify it more:
The DARK RED LINE is where his wing is if we just follow what is shown. His wing has three outer fingers though, so the LIGHT PINK LINE is where I'd believe his index wing finger to be behind his head.
Now for the female.
Same thing really.
With Contour:
With Scales:
It is obvious in the art she has one central head fin.
Bad overly but gets the point across, that is a wing not a fin.
(Something else cool? Females have frills on their cheeks, males do not!)
-
AND WELL FOR NOW, that is all I can think of.
Remember these aren't bugs or art mistakes like stray pixels. This was made to help people see what the art is before posting more threads of the same thing. If anything else pops up I'll be editing this with new info.

@Xylom
Hey, I just wanted to point something out about the female skydancer's wing? It... doesn't really fix the main issue. In fact, it actually makes things worse, and not just for the female skydancers either...
The first finger isn't a finger, it's a skin flap!
(green is the skin flap, red are the fingers)
The hatchling also has one. If it was a finger, it'd be bent really weirdly, fingers don't really bend in a curve.
However, that still leaves us with a mystery finger that disappears.
I looked at the skydancer male wings for more proof for the skin-flap-theory, and.. yeah.
This might be worse than the skydancer female wing, where the heck did that blue finger come from? There's nothing on the wing to indicate that. Maybe the males stole the females' missing finger? Hell if I know.

I'm very blunt and straightforward.
Yes, I never use any vistas.
For ease of access: She/Her.
Also I hoard the hyena familiars.
