[b][u]Description:[/u][/b] The scales/fur of Rose dragons feels especially silky, even as their bodies are adorned with sharp, hard thorns. Typically, Rose dragons are prickly and proud, easily offended until they warm up to you. Once they open up, they become steadfast and protective friends. They're very loyal, and bond with their mate(s) and friends for life. Most are extroverts and can display great skill for negotiations, flattery, or putting other dragons at ease. There are three "Classes" of Rose dragons, based on color. They tend to stick to their own Class (among other Roses) and display a deference to hierarchy when interacting cross-Class : [indent][color=red]Classic[/color] (rust-white) are the most plentiful and widely-recognized. They have a further distinction among them - "Pures," those with Red, Rose, or White "petals." These are considered the elites and have the highest social standing (and tendency towards "snobbery"). Some of them may be leaders, others reclusive and insular, associating only with other Pures and sometimes Rares (or non-Roses of high social standing). [color=purple]Rare[/color] (midnight to splash EXCEPT THISTLE) Roses are considered just below Elites, and are similarly more likely to be reclusive and insular. They will seldom associate with non-Rares (though they are less picky about non-Roses than Elites). Many consider themselves equal to the Pures, which can lead to tension or passive-aggressiveness (rarely is there outright fighting among Roses). [color=orange]Friendship[/color] (Yellow to Tangerine EXCEPT Bronze/Terracotta) Roses are also fairly plentiful and while they typically give deference to Pures and Rares, they will interact freely with Classics and non-Roses. They are the most cheerful, outgoing, and "hyper," both in personality and physically. Some may judge them to be flighty and over-trusting, but never underestimate them; their minds are still as sharp as their thorns. [color=gray][b]Thistles[/b][/color] are not considered Roses, even if they are born of a Rose (Rare) pair. Rather than silky, their scales or fur has a more feathery texture. It is not uncommon for Thistles to be abandoned or left to other clans/dragons to raise, as many Rares (and Elites) consider them a mark of shame on the parents (or bad luck). This is less likely in Shadow or Plague clans. Thistles tend to band together, and frequently range to territories where Roses are not as commonly found, especially the Shifting Expanse and Windswept Plateau. [/indent] [u][b]Genes:[/b][/u] [indent][b]Primary[/b] - Iri, Petals + Tiger, Falcon, Savannah for [url=http://www.rose.org/striped-roses/]"Striped" variation[/url] only [b]Secondary[/b] - Butterfly, Shimmer, peregrine, seraph, daub, current, stripes, safari [b]Tertiary[/b] - Spines to be an actual rose, gem terts (circuit, glimmer, opal, stained) can be one half of breeding pair[/indent] [u][b]Colors:[/b][/u] [indent][b]Secondary[/b] = Spearmint to Spring [b]Tertiary[/b] = Spearmint to Caramel[/indent] [b][u]Breed Restrictions:[/u][/b] There are no breed restrictions for Roses, however the breed dictates the "type": [u]Type 1 - "Rose-bodied"[/u] [b]Wildclaws[/b] and [b]ridgebacks[/b] are the traditional Rose breeds, but all others, except Spirals, Imps, and Tundras fall under this category. [u]Type 2 - "Long-stemmed" and "Rosebushes"[/u] Spirals, Imps, and Tundra roses have "reverse" color/genes for primary & secondary from Type 1 (with some exceptions - ie, no bar) [indent][u]Genes:[/u] (tert still spines obv) [indent][b]Primary [/b]= Iri, Petals, vipera, ripple, cherub [b]Secondary[/b] = Shimmer, butterfly + stripes, safari, peregrine ([url=http://www.rose.org/striped-roses/]"Striped" variation[/url] only)[/indent] [/indent] [b][u]Flight Restrictions:[/u][/b] (note that this only applies to nest breeding, not to the breeders themselves; breeders of excluded flights can be thought of as such: water = born in the gladeveins; ice = born during winter; fire = born during summer; lightning = born beneath a lightning-struck tree; earth = born in an area of rich soil; wind = born in spring ) [LIST] [*][color=red]Classic[/color] roses are primarily Nature-bred, throughout the Labyrinth; however, pink or white ranged can also be found in Arcane territory, while red-range are very seldomly found in Plaguelands. [*][color=orange]Friendship[/color] roses are primarily bred in the Everbloom gardens, but can also be nurtured in Light territory [*][color=purple]Rare[/color] roses can only be bred in the dark of the Shrieking Wilds or the shade of the Behemoth - so they can also be found in Shadow territory (all ranges), Arcane hollows (black/purple ranges), or again very seldomly out of Plague (black-range only) [/LIST] *It is recommended that if Roses are to be moved to clans outside the one of their birth or where they thrive best (of the ones above), that it is done so at an early age. Roses forced into moving after bonding with clanmates will often wither away or become depressed.
