Langtikos have been driven insane and are powerless to an unnatural hunger that has corrupted the very fabric of their beings.
There are three types of langtikos. Those that were corrupted by the shade, those that lost their minds from lack of sunlight and those that were turned by a langtiko attack. All of these poor creatures had their minds weakened until magic was able to corrupt their bodies and turn them into langtikos. Some view it as a curse, others a virus, but the true source of the magic that makes dragon into beast is unknown.
langtikos are often found far away from civilization. Part of this is a product of their madness, but is also because langtikos are quickly dispatched when they come up against a whole clan of dragons.
