I started to get tempted to do a double legacy challenge to test the best strategy... but decided to do math instead because I am SUCH A NERD. Doing the leap straight to gem genes can be a good strategy, but only if you like gambling or have gem genes as the end goal. (How is 8.6% the best case scenario for upgrading to a gem gene after TEN GENERATIONS???)

Anyway, uh... don't bother breeding plentiful to limited, it is a trash waste of time. Which isn't what you're doing, so thumbs up whoooo

@blaireau - I've been trying to be very careful and only go up to the next step to give myself the best odds. After 10 gens, I might try your brute force method to try for gem genes, depending on where I have gotten too. LOL

And at least doing math means minimal time, compared with the eons it takes to complete 10 generations in a LC. =D

Also if you wanted to maybe talk to me some more about that math you did because I keep thinking real hard about doing it while I'm reading legacy threads but haven't gotten around to it yet.

@chronoimp If you're using the official point system and want to maximize your score, then your best bet is to go plentiful > common > uncommon > limited > rare for breed, and plentiful > common > rare for genes. Otherwise the best strategy depends on your end goal; an incremental increase is the least frustrating because it has the highest odds of getting an upgrade, but if you're going for a specific tier, then your best bet is to brute force it and breed directly for that level.

So I am still on vacation with only my phone for the internet, so I won't be able to make a pretty post until I am home on Tuesday. So for now I will just say that I hatched the nest and Yay! I got 2 babies with Tiger, so now my heir will be triple gened.

You can check the back of my lair if you want to see the 3 babies before I get home. I'm thinking I might use the middle one as my heir. I like the firstborns colors but he was the one that has basic primary. Once again, I am so happy I am not going with the firstborns for my heirs. =D

@HSoup Yaaay congratulations on getting three genes! I see what you mean about the first one's colours, but the middle one is lovely too ^^

Although Cherub and Seraph are only 1 step up in rarity, they didn't show up much when I was looking at the breeding possibilities. And of course, Wildclaw and Glimmer were practically no-shows. But, you never know until you hatch a nest whether you might get a big jump or not. Only 27 more days + nesting time until I find out.
