I recently had a [i]ton[/i] of fun drawing a series of fullbody commissions for Exeidur. I often mirror the draft sketch when I work on the lines so I can make sure there isn't any weird skewing happening and that the image can be horizontally flipped and still look good either way.

I don't!!! get asked!! very often!! to draw elderly characters and it's fun to do research and play around with things to learn more! (They're the sweetest old couple that also busts ghosts--is this a book i need it) First drafts!! SnailMuffin commissioned me to draw her polyam trio and it was a really interesting challenge. I had to think about a pose for a while, cos I wanted to pick something where each character had equal importance. In other words, I didn't want the affection between the characters being directed toward only one of the other characters. They all love each other and I!!! love that!! (I'm a big squishy romantic okay) Anyway, an additional part of the challenge is that Luna (they/them) is 5'4" and Crystal (she/her) is 5'10" so figuring out how to position each (plus Nike (he/him) who is 5'6") was kinda hard. In my first draft sketch u can see that Luna is waaaay lower than how they ended up. First draft: [img]https://i.imgur.com/zZVXDln.png[/img] Final lines: [img]https://i.imgur.com/8FZ2ENJ.png[/img] [s]Note to self, maybe also adjust these preview pics to be better sized...[/s] For most commissions I eyeball the colors, rather than do color picking, cos personal preference, but for this commission I was given a ref sheet with specific colors, so I used those for each flat color part. Since shading is chef's choice, I went with warm shadows and cooler lighting cos I thought that'd compliment Luna's color scheme especially. Finished version!! Here's another commission from SnailMuffin! This is Chanda (they/them) who I have adopted as my younger sibling. I imagine that they're currently sending their friends a whole bunch of memes. [s]Specifically the bad pun husky meme[/s] They struck me as having THICK hair, the kind that laughs in the face of hats and eats combs. You can see that I initially had this sketch flipped and tbh the reason why they're now left-handed in this pic is very convoluted. Left to pick between the two options (cos many people can operate their phone even with their nondominant hand), I went with left handed because left handedness is commonly associated with being right-brained, which is, in turn, associated with being more empathetic and feeling. Since Chanda is really empathetic it made!!! sense to me!!! [s]when i wrote on my shop page that i want to treat ocs like how i treat my own i really wasn't joking i'm a huge nerd[/s] First draft! so when I colored these busts I purposefully used the same color to shade and the same color to highlight set at the same settings so that they could be displayed next to each other and look cohesive. THEN I REALIZED THAT I'D DONE THE LIGHTING JUST RIGHT THAT I COULD DO THIS behold!! my* parents!!
