So. I joined this wonderful site only about a month ago. I had a great tour guide, as my roomate, @lethalred, told me about this site and how her, her sister and even her sister's boyfriend were playing (to some degree). Her sister got her into it, and since then, she's been looking for others to drag into with her. Her husband is too busy working, though he does help her hatch eggs and whatnot. So, I decided to volunteer, and I let her help me sign up.
It's been fun, but the site hasn't captivated me as much as it had her, clearly. So we were talking about it one morning at a friend's place. Pokemon Nuzlockes, since we were playing Sun and Moon. She then told me there was a Flight Rising version, and we both laughed. We looked eachother dead in the eye and suddenly went, "dude okay let's look this up". So we did.
It was so captivating, I decided it was just what I need to get be back in the game. So, I stated exalting my dragons (I didn't have many, so it wasn't hard) and knew that to sate both of our curiosities, I had to do my own. For science.
My nuzlocke follows the basic rules in this post, but for a fun spin, I decided to incorporate the Pinkerton Nuzlocke, found here. I'll write my rules down below.
If you read all of that, that's... Wow. Thanks so much. My life is pretty lame.

My nuzlocke follows the basic rules in this post, but for a fun spin, I decided to incorporate the Pinkerton Nuzlocke, found here. I'll write my rules down below.
If you read all of that, that's... Wow. Thanks so much. My life is pretty lame.
spring. she/her. +3 FRT windestiny - a nuz/pinkerlocke
R U L E S These are my own Nuzlocke rules, which is a combo of the two sets of rules mentioned: Nuzlocke and Pinkerlocke. If you want to play by these rules, too, go ahead! I don't mind it.
•I am only allowed to use the coli if I pull an item from Pinkerton that says I can. •I cannot gather for food. I can only scavenge or dig daily. All food must be found in the coli. •If a dragon faints in the coli, it dies. I exalt it. •I am not allowed to purchase dragons from the Auction House unless I get an item from Pinkerton that says so. •I am not allowed to breed my dragons unless I get an item from Pinkerton that says so. •For every nests, I flip a coin for each hatchling. If tails, the hatchling dies. I exalt it. If heads, the hatchling lives. •Once a dragon reaches level 25, it "retires" and may join the clan's ranks forever.
P I N K E R T O N - D R O P S These are what determine what my dragons do daily. The way my nuzlocke is written, Aevern will listen to the winds and do what they tell her is a good idea, but the winds will be saying what the item Pinkerton gives me means.
•Food.
I battle in the coli.
If I get a plant: battle 10 - 20 matches.
If I get an insect: battle 20 - 30 matches.
If I get seafood: battle 30 - 40 matches.
If I get meat: battle 40 - 50 matches.
These battles are a minimum amount.
I can choose whichever dragons I want, and whatever arena I want. I'm allowed to run/reload or use potions, but if a dragon faints, they're dead. I exalt it.
•Materials and Trinkets.
I do something creative.
If I get a material: Do some writing. Write for characters, write some lore, write deaths, write personalities, write anything about the nuzlocke.
If I get a trinket: Draw some art. Draw deaths, hatchings, coli battles, dragons interacting, whatever. All art in this nuzlocke will be drawn by @lethalred, because she volunteered and I suck at art.
These might not happen the day I pull the item. Red and I are busy, too, so they'll happen, but you may have to wait to see them.
•Apparel.
I get to purchase the cheapest dragon on the Auction House of a certain breed.
It must be the cheapest that is triple gened, unnamed and is the gender I have the least of in my lair. When it's a tie, both genders are searched for. The breed is picked by a random number generator as follows:
Any two dragons I like. In addition, I may also use a scroll on any dragon [breed change, genes, scatterscrolls ect.], but only one.
Also, again, for every hatchling, I flip a coin. Tails means death, heads means life.
•Battle Items.
I flip a coin.
If I get tails: Nothing happens. Yay.
If I get heads: Using a random number generator, I'll squish three dragons into a coli team. Randomly generate a number, and go to the arena of the number you generated.
The dragons have to survive ten matches. It ends when either a dragon dies, or all ten matches are over with no dragon casualties.

She's cunning and cuts like steel. She won't let her size get in the way of anything, because her pride and anger are much larger than her small size. She can let her emotions get the better of her, but she tries her best to be in constant control. Despite her wild temperament, she's quite easy to talk to, and can sympathize with others quite well. Has a soft spot for hatchlings and young ones, especially in these trying times.
There are moments she doubts herself. But she knows she must pull through.
The only hold member allowed to wear a Birdskull Headdress. This symbolizes leadership.

Hyper sensitive in every sense. Words have a huge impact on him, changes in the environment make him anxious, and even touches, expected or otherwise, seem to cause slight flinching. It's thought he may have hatched early and developed this oversensitivity. Despite that, he's very strong and is fighting to overcome it. Extremely genuine and kind. Laughs more than anyone else in the hold. Being the largest dragon, she loans her weight and height to tend to certain tasks. She's very caring, and often motherly, but can be quite demanding in telling you what's best for you. She isn't mean, she just wants to see everyone around her thrive. Always understanding and observing, she's quick to pick up on body language or the emotions of others. Doesn't appear to be serious most of the time, but can be when she needs to be.[nextcol]

He has a soft spot for Ferriah, since they journeyed together since she was a small hatchling. A rather quiet Skydancer with a fondness for Icaruth since they're the same breed. She has an eye for knowledge, being of Arcane descent, and would do anything to expand her knowledge of magic and the world around her. She has no interest in fighting. Or conversing with others, for that matter.[/columns]

You earn a piece of birdskull apparel, handmade by the leader of the hold, when you reach maturity, and then again when you prove yourself by performing a task, such as saving the life of another, or fighting to protect your hold. Those decorated in many skulls are honored as being a valiant member of the hold.

Nobody saw it coming when the number of dragons in Springhold began taking a drastic decline. Day after day, more dragons were passing in their sleep. There were no symptoms. There was no warning. The remaining called it the Sleep of Death. Each day, another handful bit the dust. Everyone was terrified. Hatchlings, elders, it didn't matter who you were or what you had done. There was no pattern in the casualties. Other dragons, like Abalone and Icaruth, she forced them to leave, hoping they would be spared of the cursed slumber. Pretty soon, it was only Aevern and her mate, Firneth, left, but it wasn't long before she found herself hopelessly hovered over his lifeless body.
At first, she was terrified of sleep. The young Fae's survival instincts made her afraid. After long nights of forcing herself awake, sobbing over the losses she's witnessed, she finally embraced slumber, hoping the illness would take her as well. But, she always woke up. She was frustrated, staying inside her den trying to sleep all day. Days passed; she was the only one left, and she knew she wasn't following the souls of her fallen Clan.
Thrown into a depressive spiral, she lurked in her den, sleeping, barely eating, barely active. She might as well have died. She wasn't living. And she didn't think that anyone else was, either, until her ears picked up something other than the wind howling its way into her den entrance. It took a few moments, but the tired Fae found some strength to emerge and seek the maker of the small whimpers and cries she heard. The first thing she noticed was that the hold was oddly emptied of the dead. She figured it was the work of some carnivorous pack of something, until she saw it. The beacon of hope. Proof that she wasn't alone.
Somehow, two small hatchlings, a Nocturne and an Imperial, lay huddled in the middle of the hold's camp, with the Nocturne sobbing in a quiet and tired way as the Imperial curled around him. The Fae, tears in her eyes, ran over with sore muscles and clutched the two hatchlings, larger than her, in her large, olive wings. She was too mentally fatigued to be cautious, and the thought that it may have been a trap never occurred to her. She just sat there, embracing the children. The small Nocturne sobbed louder, but embraced the Fae's warmth. The Imperial started to cry quietly to herself.
And that was the beginning of that.

Since finding the small (though bigger than her) hatchlings, Aevern hadn't been doing much but care for them. She had even named them; the little boy Nocturne was Azural, because he seemed to resemble a stone the Fae knew as Azurite. He was calm, shy and quite sensitive, as the slightest discomfort would make him cry. The female Imperial she named Riethia, however, was quite strong, and liked to aid in caring for Azural. Aevern could tell she was going to make a fine mother one day.
Wishing to feel the morning breeze, Aevern stepped out of her den for the first time since finding the orphaned children she had now taken in. She let out a sigh, letting her breath join the winds that seemed to flow around her. They brushed her scales like water over river rocks, and it soothed her like the sound of ocean waves calms anxious minds. She was at peace. She was at ease. Until she could swear she heard a voice calling.
"Your task today is to welcome the new."
The Fae hadn't even noticed she closed her eyes, until she found them shoot open in response to the startling sound. It wasn't a voice she recognized; it wasn't even a voice that was spoken, but it rung in her head like a bell's chime. It must have been a message. A message from the winds, she thought, looking to the sky. Not many knew that the winds could also guide by voice in dire need of direction, and she herself had barely believed it. But there was no other explanation for what she had just heard, save for imagination. However, the sudden form that had appeared in the distance had started to prove otherwise. It was hard to tell where they were going, since to navigate the heavy winds on the Steppes, one must catch the winds as they are born and switch to another before they die. Examining the form, Aevern could not tell who it was, or if it was even a dragon, for they were cloaked in shadow in front of the glowing sun.
It was not until he had pretty much landed that Aevern had recognized the dragon. "Icaruth!" The surprise and, to Icaruth's dismay, anger in her voice was prominent. She looked happy to see him, but yet, something upset her. She added, "You weren't supposed to come back. You were supposed to find your clan and be safe. That is what I asked of you."
The Skydancer, tall and shimmering blue, with wings wide and yellow like the sun, looked down at the Fae. Something in his face looked broken, and Aevern saw it, but stood her ground. She was so, so glad she was no longer alone, but now she was forced to fear for his safety yet again. He finally managed to reply with, "I did find my own clan. But I came to realize that was no longer my place. I..." there was a slight hesitation, then, "I realized that my duty was to come here, and protect the clan that so valiantly protected me and accepted me. Well, what's left of it, anyhow."
It took Aevern a few moments to comprehend what he had said, but she nodded, her expression softening. She opened her mouth to speak, but the Skydancer quickly opened his first, and said, "Oh! I'm so sorry to interrupt, but... I found something on the way here. Something that may need urgent taking care of." He turned around, much to Aevern's confusion, and laid down, flaring his wings. He let out a sigh, feeling his muscles relax after his long, excruciating journey, and the small pink form clinging to his mane was revealed.
She was a small, pink Fae, absolutely tiny compared to Icaruth's massive size, and even when compared to the adult form of Aevern. She had beady, red eyes than sang a song of Plague decent, and of fear. She was afraid, coiled into the yellow of her finder's mane. Aevern's eyes widened, and she was moved to tears once again, despite seconds ago being ready to scold the foolish Skydancer for returning. She was a Fae hatchling. Finally, something small enough for Aevern to cradle and hold.
"It's hard to believe I found her, considering her small size. But I saw a smudge of pink on some bamboo stalks and thought, 'that can't be right'", Icaruth explained as Aevern crawled, trance-like, onto his back, slowly towards the hatchling. They locked eyes; the fearful, vivid red pair staring into the adult's soft, welcoming, tearful leaf green ones. Icaruth kept talking, but Aevern could not hear him. Her mind was in a drone of constant thought and wonder.
When the Fae reached the small form of the Fae hatchling, she carefully reached a claw towards the young's face. Fear dissolved from the Plague child's eyes, and was replaced with a wonder, mixed with searching. When Aevern's claw touched the pale pink face of the other, there was some sort of... Instant connection. The two had locked eyes, and everything stood still. "She's beautiful..." was all the leader whispered.
The events that took place after that were somewhat rushed. Aevern picked up the Fae and kept her cradled in her arms as she descended Icaruth. She took him inside of her den (though only his front half would fit) and introduced him to Azural and Riethia, and Azural started to cry, of course, at the sight of the mysterious dragon.
The rest of the day went by pretty fast; there was lots of talking, discussing, planning for the days ahead, and Aevern telling Icaruth about the voice of the wind telling her what was going to happen. She explained that she should probably stick to what it told her. Icaruth said that wasn't a bad idea.
Redressing in his old birdskull apparel a while later, Icaruth felt a sense of belonging. The skulls and feathers felt good to wear again, and he loved the slight weight they put on his limbs. He felt very at home, and he wanted to help raise these three hatchlings. He remembered looking at his own children back at his old clan, and seeing them so accomplished without him... He knew he was going to be there for these three. Though not his own children, they clearly needed protecting, and he vowed to be there for all of them, including Aevern.

This next day was pretty mellow. Aevern and Icaruth spent the day looking after the hatchlings, and it wasn't an all that difficult a task. Well, besides the fact that Azural would occasionally start sobbing for seemingly no reason. Riethia was quick to help take care of that, though, which was fortunate for the two adults. The unnamed Fae, still very young, slept most of the time.
Speaking of adults, though, a topic of interest grazed Aevern's mind. Because Icaruth and herself were both taking care of these children, were they... their children? Together? It was a strange thought. The only children she had ever had were with her mate, Firneth. But... He was gone now, and she had to move on. She still pondered what these children would call her and the Skydancer.
Earlier in the day, similar to yesterday, the Fae tried listening to the winds. They, however, must not have been in the mood for conversation, or maybe she was trying to hard, but she didn't hear anything. She hoped she wasn't going crazy. She viewed that as worse than dying from the sleep of death.
Speaking of which, last night was terrible. Icaruth was terrified to sleep, though he didn't quite admit it. He said he wanted to stay up and look after the children, but Aevern saw the fear in his tired eyes. She heard his terror tug at his vocal chords when he spoke, no matter how he tried to steady himself. He had just come back from what she presumed was a long flight; how could he not want to sleep, save fearing not waking up?
So, Aevern offered to watch the children instead, who were all already sleeping anyway, but he insisted. He insisted a little too hard than would have been wise for his cover. But, she didn't push it. She went to sleep and left the Skydancer do as he pleased, though she was very much worried as well. She was scared that the sudden second beacon of hope, the actual other helping hand in all this, would be gone. It almost managed to keep her own tired body awake, but sleep had found her eventually.
She was more than pleased to see Icaruth asleep early the next morning; and breathing.
