A tiny pink fae bursts onto the stage, looking extremely flustered. She looks out over the small crowd gathered in the grassy clearing. Her eyes are wide, and when she gulps, you are somehow able to hear it all the way from the back of the crowd. She must be using some sort of spell to project her voice. These are the Starfall Isles, after all.
"Er, thank you for coming, everyone!" she begins. "This is Arcane Flight's poetry competition! Or, I guess you already knew that?" She glances up at the bright pink banner hanging above the stage.
"So, you've come to test your quills against the very best Sornieth has to offer! I-"
She is cut off by the sound of an explosion somewhere to the west. She freezes. "Oh. Oh, no. I [i]told [/i]her not to-!" She looks back over her audience helplessly. "Please... please excuse me. You'll find information about the contest at the table to the left. Good luck!"
The fae is gone before you even have time to blink. After a startled moment, the baffled dragons she'd left behind begin to move towards the table she'd indicated. You follow them cautiously.

Down I've fallen into the darkest pit.
Some say it's a blessing, others fear it's curse,
But I know without debate, that magic is the worst.
And though, I know, you want this gift
And though you need this spell
If you win, you just may find, you can't stand up again.
Oh yes, it's beautiful, don't get me wrong!
It's glittering, shining cover.
But in it's core, it's a poison like no other.
And magic brings out the worst of men
And magic brings out the greed of all.
You'll say it won't affect you, but it will eat your heart, mind, and soul.
Though tempting it may be, I know it's true!
You see only the outside.
And I was born with magic in my veins
And I was raised with this ball and chain.
Once you've been consumed... There is no place to hide.
