[/i] This subspecies originates from the far north of the Southern Icefield, from the Frigid Floes to the Snowsquall Tundra. Their pale bodies help them camouflage against the barren land. Northern Flickers are mute and do not use sound for communication. Instead, they rely on visual signals. Northern Flickers will flash their brightly coloured wings to alert other dragons of their presence. Light reflects well off their wings and the signal can be seen for miles across the tundra. When not in use, their wings are folded tightly to avoid detection. Northern Flickers are very passive dragons for the most part, but will fiercely defend their young and partner. Their spiny backs serve as protection against attackers. Some Northern Flickers are very capable with magic, especially healing spells, but many have no special powers whatsoever. Oh, haha. When I saw the title I was worried someone had started the hatchery project I've been wanting to do for a long time, based on the bird! Making a Northern Flicker (the bird) dragon was the first dragon project I ever spent a long time breeding for/a lot of money to gene. lol I'd never heard of this subspecies!

Looks like my Flicker, Alwyn, picked up a mate... He might not be a Flicker himself, but he does seem capable of producing them and perhaps some sort of darker variant.
