There is nothing wrong with personal preference and having an opinion. But some of the stuff he said did cross a line and was pretty offensive.
I think everyone is handling this pretty decently and while I'm sad to see him go I'm glad that donations were made he is taking steps on educating himself on these issues.
Life is a learning experience and the best thing to do when you make a mistake is own up to it, apologize, fix what you can, and move on.
Everyone on Earth has said something gross or offensive before, especially if you're uneducated on the subject.

While I have many thoughts on how Thrage could use this to better himself as a person through taking awareness courses and educating himself about presenting his opinions in a less garish manner, they are thoughts that I will take to him personally.
My participation in Flight Rising may or may not continue as a result of the decision to contravene his own statements (based on statements made in this thread; note that I have not verified them in details) and allow him to work on the code. It is my opinion on a corporate level that a priority should be made to implement a succession protocol to allow a replacement coder to take over these duties so that Flight Rising does not have to sustain the potential brand damage of retaining him as an employee.
I agree with many statements that removing a key coder from the site in its infancy would likely spell death for it, which is why I have not made my final decision as of yet. I will state that I am likely to remain with the site and hope that a portion of future revenues will continue to go towards the charities to which donation have already been made. If this does not happen, then I will consider making donations to LGBT-friendly and/or epilepsy-awareness charities instead with the funds that I would have otherwise used to purchase gems.

Except it wasn't just one thing. He said multiple things on the transgendered issue that were offensive and then he made a joke about someone having a seizure from shock switch. :T
