Star Cluster Bleps: A Blep Subspecies
Sea Bleps are aquatic creatures, but as of late, strange bleps have been appearing. They have a close connection to the stars, almost as if they were spawned from the stars themselves...
Welcome to the Star Cluster Blep Shop! This is a sub-shop of the main Sea Blep shop. Periodically, Star Cluster Bleps will be released. The normal Pinglist will be pinged whenever there is a restock here.
——Lore——
Some bleps are rumored to be spawned by the stars, but those are merely rumors, and many of those rumors have never been proved true or false. Star Cluster Bleps are literally spontaneously created from groups of stars that have been exposed to high amounts of magic, thanks in part to the work of magical scholars and mages.
Bleps spawned from the same group of stars form a Star Cluster, a collection of bleps with a hive mind.
Most commonly, each star spawns a single blep, usually a Legionary. The largest and most magically effected star produces the Paragon, the head of the hive mind. Depending on the star that spawned them, bleps may have variations, special traits, or even defects.
Most Clusters include between twenty and a hundred bleps, and unlike normal bleps, Star Cluster bleps cannot reproduce within their own Cluster and must rely on adopting other Cluster bleps into their own ranks. Under the leadership of a Paragon, Star Clusters clash, battle, form alliances, or even merge with other Clusters. However, merging and alliances are rare, due to the xenophobic tendencies of Paragons.
Star Clusters build a lair in a hidden, secluded area at the direction of the Paragon. Oftentimes they choose a high-up area with clear access to the night sky.
The goals of a Paragon are varied and unpredictable. Most Paragons seek to protect themselves and their Cluster first and foremost. Their secondary goal is usually to expand their lair and reach.
——Current Star Cluster——
The first Star Cluster that has been discovered is a small Cluster spawned by a group of dim stars that appear in early winter. They have made their lair on a mountain peak, in a network of caverns whose rock walls are studded with glowing ice-blue crystals, like the interior of a massive geode.
