Objectives

Main Shop General Objectives:
1. To provide pixel arrangements suitable for signatures and dragon/profile bios
2. To create a “minigame” atmosphere that gives a use to collecting FR items

Affiliates Objectives:
1. To open a parallel shop to keep general order traffic to a manageable level.
2. To offer options that are otherwise not possible at the main shop. This may include animated pixel arrangements, additional environmental effects, long-form creative writing, etc.
3. To keep the pixel assets available on Flight Rising in the event that miirshroom can no longer run the main shop for whatever reason.

Limitations

a) Affiliates may not create new pixel sprites. New sprites are to be provided solely by miirshroom, as a means of keeping a consistent art style.
i) Miirshroom may keep exclusive use of new sprites for a period of time after their release, before passing them on.
ii) Affiliates will not have access to rainbow star sprites in pixel orders (i.e. cherry trees, lemmings, mantises, starfish)
iii) Adjustments to hue and saturation of the items are permitted - no limits, go wild
iv) The creature sprite silhouettes may be altered as required for animation services or slight pose changes (i.e. sitting vs. standing).
v) Silhouettes of plant items may be sculpted as needed for composition (i.e. swapping matching flowers on the two different stems, trimming the size of mosses and grasses, etc.)
vi) Items may NOT be resized, as this introduces "fuzziness" around the edges, alters colour profiles, and in the case of down-sizing may make patterns unrecognizable.

b) Affiliates must allow miirshroom to claim the 2nd post of your shop thread. This is in order to post announcements pertaining to the main shop and (unfortunately) as a failsafe to notify potential customers if you are to become unavailable while leaving large quantities of work unfinished.
i) Wait times between order and drop-off should be targeted at 2 weeks average. It is recommended that the shop closes in order to catch up if wait times should become much longer than this.

c) Affiliates may use their own judgement on the image hosting service that they use. I myself currently use imgur for hosting, with a tumblr gallery as a backup. I would also encourage affiliates to make it clear to customers that image hosting services are susceptible to sudden changes of terms of service or shut-down, and that they should always save a copy of the image and upload it to their own hosting service of choice.

Pixel asset “ownership”:
If miirshroom is to disappear from Flight Rising with no activity or explanation for a period of one year or more, the above limitations and guidelines become null and void. Affiliates would be free to use the assets and add additional plants and creatures as they wish, as long as their activities remain based on Flight Rising. The pixel assets created by miirshroom are under no circumstance to be sold or otherwise used in a transfer of real world currency (or cryptocurrency).

Guidelines

a) Affiliates may use whatever payment scheme they wish (excluding off-site currencies):
i) It is recommended not to lower prices below the amounts typically used in the main shop run by miirshroom. These prices are already heavily discounted from the appropriate value on time and effort in order to encourage item collection as alternate payment (i.e. I charge much less than what is warranted as a fair price for an art commission. Use your judgement on the amount of time you spend on each order and how much that time is worth!)
ii) Affiliates do not need to require items as payment. Decide whether pure treasure/gems or a mix of treasure/gems and items would be appropriate.
iii) It is suggested that payments with items attached are sent through the message centre (i.e. instead of the crossroads). If crossroads are used, payments should be accepted immediately to prevent deletion of items that are in transit.

b) Inform miirshroom if you have orders sitting in your queue for over 1 month:
i) If you are unable to complete a couple of orders, let me know and I can try to cover for you and complete them myself. However, if this is a repeating occurance, if the number of incomplete orders exceeds 10, or wait time continues significantly past one month, I will restrict your access to new asset sheets and may post an announcement indicating that my support of your shop is withdrawn.

c) There is no sharing of .psd working files between shops. (i.e. an affiliate can choose to accept a request to animate something made by miirshroom, but it is their responsibility to do this using only the .png image)

Comments about the Independent Shops idea (from September 2015):

How much time on average does it take you to make a single planter? I'd love to run a shop, but only if the time commitment isn't humongous. :D Also, have you considered, instead of opening a separate shop, to just "hire" an assistant or two to help you with orders that come through this shop?
I'm at the point where I get bored with doing the same thing over an over again, and make more work for myself by adding unncessecary extra details.
For a normal person, maybe [5-10 minutes for a 100px, 10-20 minutes for a 200px], depending on complexity. Plus an hour to upload/write-up/drop-off a batch of ~10.

It all comes down to who would run the independent shop. If they are unorganized and too inexperienced the whole thing might end in a disaster. They'd also have to be active and trustful. Maybe have you be an overseer to everything for a bit? Just so customers are reassured that you're still apart of the process?
This is true. Part of the reason that I wanted to release the Coliseum assets is because I want to use them for an application process, so that people can get hands-on experience of approximately the amount of work it takes. Running a past shop is not necessarily required, and I would like to have a probation period to check that the affiliate can keep up (probably something along the lines of a starter-bonsai offer for flat fee like I've done in the past). Basic familiarity with art theory would be expected, and I will give preference to people who have been generally civil on-site. I would also prefer that applicants have ordered from the shop at least once in the past, even if only one of the random starters, which would hopefully prevent people from applying just for "easy" dragon dollars.

Questions from this thread:

What programme do you use and is it possible to work with a different programme that perhaps wouldn't cost as insanely much [as Photoshop]?
I did take a quick look at GIMP, and I think that it's possible to use as an alternative. Aside from learning the differences in the move/transform/colour tools, the main issue is that the way I've set up the sprite sheets to work in Photoshop currently relies on a process of 1) use the lasso tool to single out the item needed, and then 2) click on the item and drag it to the file with the planter/pots. In GIMP it's more a process of 1) select with the lasso tool, 2) copy the selected region and paste to a new layer, and 3) click on the new layer in the "layer" panel and drag that to the planter/pots file. Can be downloaded directly from GIMP.org (beware of untrusted 3rd party download sites).

BonsaiPixels has grown over the past couple of years to the point where I feel that I need some level of help to keep up with new orders, and to give myself more time to work on new assets and events (and so that I have more time for other projects). Since I'd like to keep management work to a minimum, I'd like to set up a system where hired "Affiliates" have as much autonomy as possible. The purpose of this thread is to find people interested in becoming Affiliates who use assets from the main BonsaiPixels shop to run their own independent shops.
