TOPIC | Breeding Cooldown Boon

I think it would be a great idea to have a thing similar to the Boon of Fertility;

The Boon of Breeding-Cooldown-Begone.

I think it would be profitable for the game developers to make such a boon - naturally to be purchased only with gems - because some dragons have a really (really) long breeding cooldown time!

Maybe I'm just missing some hidden gem here on the site and it already exist, but I'm just throwing this out here as a random suggestion :3

Would there be a cooldown on the use of this boon? Would it reduce the pair's fertility so they'd produce one less egg than they ordinarily would after its use? Would users be limited to a given number in a (week/month/quarter/year) window?

If not, no. What's the point in controlling breed rarity by how often they breed if people with enough gems could just purchase endless breeding reduction & fertility boons and spam them on their Imperials or Wildclaws?

Seems like once you had a pair of dragons that were guaranteed to produce valuable babies, you would easily be able to go - breed, boon of fertility, put babies up for sale, meanwhile use boon of cooldown removal to breed again instantly, boon of fertility, sell babies, boon of cooldown removal... all in a very short time span.

If you can sell the offspring for more than the two boons cost, you would be able to do this over and over until you crashed the market for whatever type of dragon you were breeding, basically. At least, I think? So yeah... no support, sorry.

I think it would be a good idea, but not to instantly make them breedable again. Maybe to cut down the cooldown but not destroy it entirely. Say a ten day cut, or something? Breeding is a central part of this game, and having an entire lair on cooldown is... kind of counterproductive. It would still make the rare breeds rarer, as it would be gem purchased, but makes the empty nest/no breedable dragons a bit less likely. I intend to use my common breeds as a means to exalt babies, but at the cooldown they are at, it's more profitable to sell them on the AH.

Quite frankly, the cooldown for some of these dragons is ridiculous. Waiting over a month for my "main" pairs to lay two, maybe three eggs, is kind of ridiculous. A boon to shorten the cooldown I think is a very good idea.

There is nothing wrong with the Breeding System that is in place. FR wants to be different then other breeding sites and they've accomplished that. Dragons are *not* meant to be a main source of income-nor are they really. If dragons are your main source of income you're doing something very wrong or you aren't putting enough time in-simple as that.

The game is still very new, shiny even. The Dragon market will settle down it just takes time. Keeping the CD's the way they are means you have to be *more* careful about your breeding and plan it accordingly.

The dragon population, on average near doubles (or does double) every breeding cycle per type of species in the game. We are already swimming in hundreds of the 4 starter breeds and that number is only going to continue to expand exponentially. Leave the system/CD' alone it works fine. All shortening the CD will do is crash the market that's hardly already stable.

@Rayen agreeing with this.

And I'm going to add that no only is it something that could dramatically effect the in-game economy, but could cause a major strain on the already taxed servers.

It's frustrating, but I understand why it is in place.

I'm absolutely against this, for the reasons that Glacialist and Rayen already elaborated.

If anything, I'd support longer cooldowns and restricting the Boon of Fertility usage to once per day. I've never needed more than one nest, simply because it's more profitable to boon them. And I'm clearly not the only one who's been doing it; most of the richest users seem to use the same method. Unfortunately this has had quite an effect on the population and the prices..

I think having an item that shortened CD, but cut down nest size down to one/two eggs for the next, say, two/three breedings wouldn't be so bad. Or a user could only use it once/month. And it would have to cut it down, not remove it. Maybe have it usable only on non-starters to cut the CD in half? I think that and the restriction of once/month would be alright. :/
Overall though, as much as it can be frustrating having to wait, Rayen, Glacialist and Zaltys are right. It would screw up the market and be a bigger clog to the servers.
Also, some people have had to work hard to get their non-starters, so for it to suddenly be that much easier/cheaper would be very unfair to the users who didn't have the opportunity before.

I don't support this for all the reasons listed above, with one added: It would make FR more of a pay-to-win game.
"You can't afford gems? Too bad, those that can get to breed their dragons more often than you. When you're left in the dust just remember that you're the one who chose not to spend money!"
I've been on a few petsites with something that shortens something's cooldown, as long as you have a buttload of cash, and then the users that can afford it get ahead of the users that can't twice as fast, and then they're told "Well you should have done what we did!"

As someone with less than 50 dollars in their bank account, I will never, ever support a website that's pay-to-win, and shortening the cooldowns would be a form of that. I hope FR doesn't :/

Edited to add: We're all totally forgetting that FR wants to stay making sense lore-wise. Lore-wise, dragons take x amount of days on cooldown before they can breed again. It wouldn't make sense to throw that all out the window just because some users are impatient and want to breed NOW.

It would give the site more money, yes. But it would also give the players with IRL money to spend an unfair advantage, as the rest of us would have to wait while the dragons we were waiting on decreased in value as the cooldown boon made more available. If it did become an item, there should be a limitation of some sort.
