Today I learned Maillard is a word...and a process that turns things brown. How neat. :3

Yep! It's a reaction between amino acids (basically protein) and sugar, and is very easily seen when cooking meat (the inspiration behind the colors on that edit, though swirls accent is a bit more orange than I'd like)! In other situations browning is usually caused only by sugars cooking and they taste pretty different.
@Eucyon
So I was skimming through some of the color submissions and it seems like the color down below is still unnamed, so I ended up nicknaming it Error if that works for you? If there's a different name for it it'll be changed of course

And uh. It seems like SairentoTsuki's Cocoa is a little bit more yellow than it seems lol. The nose stays the same color when you use Harlequin (unless it's a tundra in which case it's the fur) and it's how I've been determining the color of the body

@KrystalRage yeah I noticed that too so I took uh...some liberties on that one for my basic mock up.
My mock up for Cacoa:

and here is Cocoa (Why we have two different spellings for the same bean idk...):

archenitesky two spellings because one is Spanish (cacao) and one is anglicised (cocoa)! The hispanised version takes its roots from Native American languages.
In some Slavic languages, for example, it is also kakao (aka cacao)

I am once again back in this thread crying over the fact that I cannot simply will these colors onto the official color wheel

Well, my dream dragons are all now composed of these non-existent colors. Great.
You know, staff should combine this idea with my "shiny egg" idea... which was really just me being silly, but if the whole hold up in a color wheel expansion is "messing with breeding pairs"... I mean... they could work around that. Make "special" eggs that hatch into the new colors. Obtained just like normal eggs (coli, scavenging), but they only pull their colors from the new wheel.
Wouldn't mess with any existing breeding pairs at all, as long as the wheels were kept separate and not merged... Breeding dragons from the original wheel and the new wheel is where it would get complicated.

If you wanted to keep the new colors rare, you could have them revert back to original color wheel colors for breeding purposes. ex. New color "Party" = Original color "Radioactive" when bred. So breeding a dragon with the primary party and a dragon with the primary radioactive, all the hatchlings would be radioactive. Then you wouldn't mess with breeding pairs at all.
Or you wouldn't even have to do that. *shrug* As long as the new color wheel was somehow kept "separate" from the original color wheel and they weren't merged... I'm sure there's a way to make it work.

Some of us previously felt creating a separate color wheel might make things more complicated for breeding and not necessarily in a good way.
Honestly probably the best way to minimize upset would be for staff to run a poll to see what people would want if new colors were to be added to the game. I think I made that suggestion in the old thread if I recall.

Yeah, the more I thought about it the more I realized how complicated it would be (which is why I edited my post xD;;) I don't breed dragons so I rarely think about that aspect of the game - my brain just went "I want new colors!" But yeah, a separate wheel would make things... difficult... for breeding unless it was done just right. I don't have the brain power to figure it out. D:
