Skins and Accents

With the blueprints currently available to artists in advance of this feature's launch, we want to give everyone a heads up that designs submitted for Eternal Youth hatchling skins and accents will have to adhere to additional content rules and guidelines. We're giving you this heads up now so that any designs that don't meet these added standards can be adjusted with time before this feature goes live. Hello everyone! We've discussed your feedback regarding the confusion over yesterday's rules update and we've made some changes and additional clarifications. The [b][url=https://www1.flightrising.com/wiki/skins/1]Custom Skin and Accents Rules & FAQ[/url][/b] has been updated based on your questions and your feedback. The rules specific to hatchling skins and accents will now read: ----- [list][*]Designs [b]should not adultify[/b] the hatchling. [list][*]This rule [b]is specific to skin and accent[/b] visual depictions and design names/titles as skins and accents are official site items once approved. [*] [b]This rule includes but is not limited to:[/b] thigh-high stockings, harnesses, garters, excessively short skirts/shorts, undergarments, depictions of historically fetishized clothing, depictions that communicate or imply inappropriate age-related tropes, design names or titles that when combined with the design communicate inappropriate age-related tropes, or otherwise try to communicate or imply the imaged hatchling is a sexually mature dragon. [*] If a design and/or title/name is determined to be depicting fetish or otherwise inappropriate art, using claims such as "fashion" in appeal [b]will not be accepted as a way to bypass this rule[/b]. [*][b]Please note:[/b] Limiting what clothing can be depicted on hatchlings is not intended as an implication that some clothing is "inherently sexual" in nature or to validate any form of victim-blaming. When it comes to [b]the site-approved depiction of minors, we must apply broader rules[/b] to combat those acting in bad faith or otherwise seeking to inflict harm.[/list] [*] Designs [b]should not place the implication of violent wounds [/b]on the hatchling. [list][*] The same rules regarding wounds as adult dragons are applied with the following additions: No exposed bones and no gore outside the limits of official [I]Flight Rising[/I] genes and eye types. [*] In addition, [b]scars on hatchlings will be scrutinized to a greater degree[/b] than those on adult dragons for implied violence and/or abuse. [*] [b]Please note:[/b] Prosthetics, mobility aids, and disability aids [b]do not violate this rule.[/b][/list] [*] Designs [b]should not zombify[/b] the hatchling. [*] Designs and their titles/names [b]should adhere to these rules without additional context.[/b] [list][*] "Skinned Hatchling" and similar may be okay as social media or forum-based meta jokes, they're not okay as actual design names or titles.[/list] [*] These rules and guidelines are subject to change based on the content submitted to the Skin and Accent moderation team for approval.[/list] ----- The phrasing of yesterday's rules updates referenced a broad umbrella of fashion subcultures while we were attempting to prevent abuse from those with ill intentions. As noted in the above rules additions, this was never intended to imply that there is an "inherently sexual" nature to these styles. We apologize for any hurt we caused to all who embrace these fashion movements, and hope that these updates clarify any confusion regarding what is covered by these rules. We are working to balance several community and moderation needs with the upcoming hatchling skins and accents. Using a Scroll of Eternal Youth on an adult dragon with progeny is fine. Our site-wide Rules & Policies already cover inappropriate content in player lore and headcanons posted or linked to on our website. Skins and accents, however, are visual art and once a design is approved, it is an official [I]Flight Rising[/I] site item. [b]While skins and accents are reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis,[/b] their existence as [b]official [I]Flight Rising[/I] items[/b] also means the standards and the scrutiny applied to them are higher out of necessity, especially when it comes to hatchlings. We understand the vast majority of our community would never and will not submit inappropriate content for hatchlings. With that said—and based on previous content removed and moderated by both the Skin and Accent moderation team and [I]Flight Rising[/I] Support over the past 10+ years—we feel these additional clarifications and guidelines are necessary in order to empower our team to protect our community and our site.
