About Magic
There are 4 types of magic, elemental, mind, transformation, and neutral.
Elemental
Elemental magic is one of the most common types of magic, however certain elements are rarer than others. Elements include light, shadow, nature, arcane, water, fire, air, earth, heat, and lightning. The four primal elements (Earth, air, water, fire) are rarer than secondary elements (nature, lightning, heat, and arcane). Light and dark magic are the rarest.
Primal Elements
Primal elements are the strongest of the elements as all other elements originated from them, apart from light and dark. People with primal element magic are generally respected more. Primal magic allows the user to be able to control their element and summon it at will in the case of fire and water. They also can manipulate existing parts of their element, such as being able to more dirt at will in the case of earth, and being able to stop a tornado in the case of air.
Secondary Elements
Secondary elements are the weakest of the elemental magic, however if the user is trained properly they can become as strong as an untrained primal user. Like primal elements, they can manipulate and control their element, in such the case of heat and electricity. People with the nature element can manipulate plants and communicate and influence animals. Arcane is another word for pure magic, which is a very broad category. Arcane users can do many things, such as enchanting objects, summoning magic that they can manipulate, and are generally known as sorcerers. Arcane users can do anything that no other magic can do, so no elemental manipulation, no mind control or reading, no being able to transform. One of the main things that arcane users are known to do is levitate objects.
Light and Dark
Light and dark magic is the rarest type of elemental magic, if not the rarest magic of all. It is said that light and dark magic is found most commonly in mythical animals, but this cannot be proven true at the minuet. Light magic users can summon and manipulate all types of light, from colored light to light we cannot visibly see. Light users can also walk through prisms and mirrors. Dark magic users are more uncommon than light magic users, as they are often said to be cursed by the shadow. Dark magic uses can manipulate and summon shadows, and can even make shadows solid. They cannot travel through anything, but it is said that users can become a shadow themselves.
An old legend talks about light and dark magic users being able to create light and dark versions of other elements and magic types, but nobody has seen this happen and the legend has been debunked as a story.
Mind
Mind magic is rarer than transformation magic, however it is seen to be near useless if not trained. Untrained people who have mind magic can manipulate their own thoughts, emotions, and can analyse their personality as well as others personality. However, a person who has trained their mind magic will be able to manipulate other's thoughts, emotions, and can even change someone's personality. Trained mind magic users can even heal people and some say they can even see into the future, but nobody has ever proved this. Because of how powerful mind magic can get, you must get a special permit to use trained mind magic in public (Doctors and therapists most often have mind magic in this world, which is why mind magic is so valued if trained).
Transformation
Transformation magic is about as rare as primal magic, however it has many other uses. People with transformation magic are able to turn themselves into the animal that they are (ex. would be a wolf person turning into a wolf). They can also transform objects (ex. would be someone turning a piece of wood into a chair, however the chair would have to have the same mass or less of the wood that was used to make it). People who train their transformation magic can even turn certain parts of them into things (ex. a bird person would be able to turn their arms into wings).
Neutral
Neutral magic is the most common type of magic. People with neutral magic can learn any type of magic, however it will take years to master. For transformation magic they would only be able to transform into the type of animal they are, for elemental they can only learn one secondary primal, and for mind they can only learn how to manipulate their own mind.
Concerning people with no magic
Some people are born without magic, however it is not uncommon. People without magic tend to go to arcane users to get enchanted items, and as such they tend to wear a lot of jewelry. Enchanted items can give the wearer the ability to do whatever the enchantment is. Enchantments can be anything that the arcane user can do, such as levitation, commanding inanimate object (ex. getting a spoon to mix a bowl all on it's own), and the most expensive enchantment would be being able to make other enchantments (any other enchantments that the nonmagic has on would allow them to make other enchantments of those enchantments. This sounds very confusing...)
Concerning Magic Training Level
When you create your character, a raining level will be decided. This section depicts what different levels mean.
Elemental
Primal
No Training: Primal elements are strong without being trained. people with untrained primal element magic can manipulate their element as long as their element is present.
Trained: Trained primal element magic allows the user to summon their element, however if it is summoned it is harder to manipulate. This includes summoning some fire or lava, water, summoning a gust of wind, or summoning a huge rock.
Master: People who have mastered their primal element can do many amazing things. They can summon their element much quicker and can manipulate it with ease. They also are immune to their element, so a fire user cannot be hurt by fire, a water user can breathe underwater, an earth user cannot suffocate, and an air user can use their magic to fly and cannot die from falling.
Secondary
(This excludes arcane, there is a separate section for that^^)
No Training: Secondary element users with no training can do minimal things. They can manipulate their element in a 5 ft radius (heat, electricity, nature). They must stay still when manipulating and cannot move. They cannot summon their element yet and therefore their element must be present.
Trained: Trained secondary element users can move while manipulating their element, however it is still in a 5 ft radius. Nature users can communicate to animals in this level. Heat and electricity users can now pull their element out of their body (body heat for heat, energy for electricity).
Master: Secondary users who have mastered their element can manipulate their element with no limits. They can summon their element and are immune to it. Heat users cannot overheat, electricity users can cover themselves in electricity and have more energy than the normal person, and nature isn't affected by harmful plants and won't be attacked by animals (no itching from poison ivy, thorns won't hurt, animal won't attack).
Sub Category: Arcane
No Training: Arcane users with no training can levitate objects can can summon small things of magic that they can shape (enough to fill a handful). They cannot make enchantments but they can get enchantments that make training faster.
Trained: Trained arcane users can make basic enchantments (levitation, commanding inanimate objects, small enhancements, etc.) and can summon raw magic. They can manipulate this magic and can command it to move on it's own (basically like casting a spell).
Master: Masters can summon large amounts of magic and can make any enchantment as long as they have learned the skill. They can command multiple sections of magic and can preform multiple spells at once. Certain spells that only masters can learn include temporary invisibility, self levitation, hologram (clones an item. The clone is made of pure magic and will eventually dissipate), and more!
Info section: Enchantments Arcane users can make enchantments of any ability that they know how to do. However, they can also make enchantments that gives the holder the ability of another type of magic (won't work on arcane users). This is extremely hard to do as in order to do it, an arcane user must take a piece from the magic core of a person. Every person has a magic core inside them, the origin of their magic, and it grows when you train your magic. Arcane users of a master level can see this core, and can take pieces of it. However, in order to do this the person that they are taking from must give permission, otherwise the arcane user will use a piece of their own core. Once a piece of the core is taken, it is bound to an item, typically a pendent of some sort, and is infused with a bit of arcane magic. After that, anyone who wears or holds this item can use the ability, as the arcane magic helps connect the piece of core to the core of the user. As such, the magic must be trained to get attuned to the new user's core. These are most commonly used by non-magic people, however
anyone can use an enchantment (typically costs more for people who already have magic).
Mind
No Training: Untrained people who have mind magic can manipulate their own thoughts, emotions, and can analyse their personality as well as others personality.
Trained: Trained mind magic users can alter their own personality and can read minds and emotions. They can do small amounts of healing to themselves, but not to others.
Master: Master mind magic users can manipulate other's thoughts, emotions, and can even change someone's personality. They can even heal people and some say they can even see into the future, but nobody has ever proved this. Because of how powerful mind magic can get, you must get a special permit to use trained mind magic in public (You must visit an NPC to do this).
Transformation
No Training: People with untrained transformation magic can transform themselves into the animal that they are. They cannot hold this for long, and can still speak English.
Trained: Trained transformation magic users can transform objects, they would be able to turn a piece of wood into a chair, however the chair would have to have the same mass or less of the wood that was used to make it.
Master: Transformation magic users who have mastered their ability would be able to transform certain parts of themselves separately, such as a bird turning their arms into wings or a wolf turning their mouth into a wolf's snout.
Neutral and Nonmagics
Once a neutral decides on their type of magic they must train with their magic. In the case of elemental, they follow the training path of a secondary elemental. For transformation every year they will gain a minuet for the time that they can fully transform. This will stop once they have trained for 10 years, in which they can transform whenever. With mind they will be able read their own thoughts, emotions, and personality, however after 5 years of training they can manipulate their own mind and heal people.
Nonmagics must let their enchantment attune to their empty magic core, which will start to fill once they put on their enchantment (the arcane magic will fill it). This can take a day to a year depending on the level of enchantment (an NPC can tell you this information).
About character creation
Please use this website to roll the dice
When creating your character some things will be left up to chance, at the mercy of a dice if you will. When creating your character, you ca either pick the type of magic they would have, or the exact animal they will be. Whichever you pick, the opposite will be determined by a dice.
If you pick the Type of magic
If you picked the type of magic your character has (elemental, mind, transformation, neutral, or nonmagic) then you must roll a dice to decide the following.
Animal Type
1: You get a mythical animal (anything from myth or legend, can even be your own creation!)
2-10: Aquatic, Bird, or Insect (Any animal that is aquatic or semi-aquatic OR a bird/insect)
11-15: Herbivore (Any animal that eats only plants or seeds)
16-22: Omnivore (Any animal that eats both plants and animals/insects)
23-32: Carnivore (Any animal that eats other animals/insects)
You get to pick any animal that falls under the category that you pick. If you ave questions please ask^^
This is ONLY if you picked elemental
1: Light or Dark
2-10: Primal
11-32: Secondary Primal
This is ONLY if you picked elemental AND have a mythical animal
1-15: Light or Dark
16-20: Primal
21-32: Secondary Primal
This is ONLY if you picked neutral (This is what magic your character will learn)
1-15: Elemental
16-21: Mind
22-32: Transformation
Training Level
1-3: Your character has mastered their magic
4-10: Your character has trained their magic, but it is not mastered yet
11-32: Your character has not trained their magic at all
I will put info about each of the levels under the magic section
If you pick the Type of animal
If you picked the type of animal your character is (excluding mythical) then you must roll a dice to decide the following.
Type of magic
1-10: No magic
11-17: Neutral
18-23: Elemental
24-29: Mind
30-32: Transformation
The following is for if you rolled certain types of magic
This is ONLY if you picked elemental
1: Light or Dark
2-10: Primal
11-32: Secondary Primal
This is ONLY if you picked neutral (This is what magic your character will learn)
1-15: Elemental
16-21: Mind
22-23: Transformation
Training Level
1-3: Your character has mastered their magic
4-10: Your character has trained their magic, but it is not mastered yet
11-32: Your character has not trained their magic at all
I will put info about each of the levels under the magic section
Please read AFTER you have read all of the above
Creating your character heavily relies on the honor system, and as such there has to be documentation for what you rolled. As such, there are two sheets, one for recording dice rolling and one to create your character. I would recommend rolling the dice before choosing if you want to decide the animal or the type of magic as the only way to get a mythical animal is by rolling the dice.
Please post BOTH sheets, even if the rolls do not matter :)
