WARNING MIGHT BE SOME IDEOLOGICALLY INSENSITIVE STUFF I GUESS
OPTION 1
Ice/Lightning (Icecatcher, Stormwarden)
Cold, calculated, and efficient, the Stormwarden drives his children to work ever harder at preserving the old world and powering the new. This drive was especially helpful when sending in well organized platoons to contend with the lesser shade beasts, and the Stormwarden’s untiring endurance in battle was unmatched by friend and foe alike. The Southern Icefields drifted with the change in magical energy (with a little help from the spires) and are now combining with the deserts to form a barren and frozen new land, constantly barraged by massive storms of hail, lightning, and blizzards.
Strengths: STR VIT QCK

Water/Earth (Earthlord, Tideshaker)
A deep sleeper, the Tideshaker is known for falling unconscious among the rocks for years on end. The prophecies and omniscience he offered during the war was invaluable, but as time went on and the balance shifted out of place, so did his mind become lost. The earth and water dragons have a hard time maintaining their precious monuments and memories and keeping the waters clear and flowing with life. Dragonhome’s great canyons have become flooded, leaving much of the Sea of a Thousand Currents high and dry, revealing ruins of a bygone age. The things that crawl out of these ruins are typically less than friendly...
Strengths: INT DEF MND

Arcane/Light (Manaweaver) MISSING
The Manaweaver’s curiosity was barely containable when the two first joined together. They were adept at tracking down Shade hubs across Sornieth as well as making new discoveries on how to drive back the fearful blight. It was the Arcanists’ idea to fuse and become more powerful, and the Manaweaver’s volunteering to banish the Shade back to the starry abyss whence it came. They never returned. Light elementals’ judgements are clouded and confused, Arcane dragons are depressed and no longer see beauty and wonder in the unknown. Their lands remain relatively unchanged, save for the draining of color and wildlife as the elemental magic dwindles ever lower in the regions. If balance is to be restored, it is vital the Manaweaver is found, and soon.
Strengths: AGI QCK INT

Plague/Fire (Flamebringer, Plaguecaller)
A relentless, raging, and vicious warrior, every dragon made sure to steer clear when the Plaguecaller went on a rampage. Veins of fire and molten sickness poisoned and burned everything, and the great hordes of plumed and toothed dragons swarmed their enemies and obliterated them, combining sheer bloodlust with superior technology and craftsmanship. Flame dragons have experienced increased immunity to the various contagion strains, and plague dragons have grown thicker and more fireproof skin. The Wyrmwound split and stretched, the Great Furnace cooled and bigger and bigger volcanic eruptions swelled until the two met in the middle, generating a bubbling ravine of magma and disease. This rift has been dubbed the Infernace (Infernal Furnace) and clan’s gravitate towards it to learn the masterful arts of concocting poisons and weaponry. The rest of the plaguelands and the magma pits have followed along the rift’s rim, melding into a charred landscape of spitting rocks and red ash.
Strengths: STR VIT DEF
- Rumor has it an unholy binding of rock and sickness has been conjured, and a new substance borne from the pestilent fires of the Infernace. They call it Living Metal, and only the most expert of dragons can mold it and wield it. It is said to reside in a pool of its own, and to have gained a form of sentience, connecting with whoever shapes it. Some say one the metal has bonded with a dragon, their consciousness link, and most are driven mad by endless voices. The truly strong however are resilient, and become warriors with legendary powers.

Wind/Shadow (Shadowsinger, Windbinder)
The Shadowsinger is by far the most playful and easy going of the deities. They used powerful wind and shadow magic to cover vast areas in dark mist during the war, blinding the Shade and allowing the Shadowsinger to easily ambush and defeat it. These dark mists also provided temporary safe havens for dragons, but the Shadowsinger never stayed in one place for long. The oozy excursionist’s constant migration forced the shadow dragons out of the darkness and into massive caravans of migrating dragons from all over Sornieth. The wind elements help lead the way, forming close bonds with their new brethren. When the war ended, the shadow dragons were so enthralled by their new adventurous habits that they became inseparable from their kin. Wind dragons and shadow dragons are hard to tell apart save for eye color and enthusiasm for games, tricks, and victory. A wind dragon is almost always in the company of a shadow dragon, and cross elemental breeding between the two is more common than same element breeding. Just as the wind dragons showed the shadow dragons how to explore, the shadow dragons have taken to teaching the wind dragons their careful strategies in sneaking and winning.
Strengths: AGI VIT INT
- With the new dynamic nature of the two energies, something extraordinary occurred between the Windswept Plateau and the Tangled Wood. Both regions seemed to wither and drain progressively from the opposite ends of Sornieth. The Shadowsinger was unable to be in two places at once, and as they ventured about energy rose around their very form. A great tempest came down from above, brambles burst from below, drained land cracked and shifted until almost all of the shadow and wind territories were held within a great cyclone. These various pieces fly and crash with the temperamental gusts, and the land is constantly remade. The most solid of these drifting islands is an ever changing mass of rock. Shady pines grow intertwined with speedy bamboo shoots, forming dynamic forests and dazzling light shows. This mainland, called by its residents as the Rubato Bramboole (Bamboo-Bramble), is interconnected with all other pieces of land in the vortex by roots and thorny vines. Dragons use these connections as pathways to travel across the region and explore newly formed islands.

Gladekeeper/Sornieth (The Great Giver)
The Shade took a toll on all the deities at the beginning of the war, the Gladkeeper most of all. Her once flourishing lands decayed and withered, her children grew sick and weak, and with each passing day the darkness grew closer to the heart of the Behemoth. The other deities were so involved in protecting their own territories that not one of them tried to assist her, and soon the Shade reached the great tree and began eating away at it. The Gladekeeper was so weak she could not stand, and her heavy eyes drooped closed as the roots of her home creaked and snapped, and the great Behemoth fell. It is said the crash of that tree could be heard across the world, and it caught the attention of the other deities. The plan to fuse was enacted, the Shade repelled, and the Manaweaver entrusted with the last of the threat. The remaining four were left with the massive carcass of what was once the Gladekeeper. A deity, a friend, a sister. The Tideshaker and the Stormcaller buried her, but the Plaguecaller refused to have anything to do with her age old enemy. With the shade gone, the Labyrinth exploded with life, the Gladekeeper’s body providing the land with the magic and nutrients it needed to flourish once more. She became a part of Sornieth, one with the earth, a little piece of her soul growing within every blade of grass, every ant, every tree, everything born on her island. The nature dragons had all but died out with the uprooting of their home, leaving the Beastclans to rule over the wilds. To this day, it remains the only region free of dragons in Sornieth.
Strengths: N/A
- The various clans share a form of religion revolving around a strange mix between Talona and the Gladekeeper. Dragons became characters in bedtime stories and used to scare children into doing their chores. The other deities were forgotten, and it was said that the ‘Great Giver’ had long ago defeated a dark force and driven it into the sky, throwing it so hard that it revolved around the world, chasing the sun endlessly over the horizon. The stars, they said, were the eyes of the great darkness, and they searched the wilds for a way back to the ground. This made it important to never be seen by the sky at night, and to always stay under cover, no matter what one might think or see. If the darkness saw you, it would take you, and you would never be seen again. They believed that those who passed on needed to be returned to the ground from where they came, their essence becoming one with the Great Giver until they were brought back again as another creature on the island, be it plant or animal. A part of this may be true, as each living thing contains a small piece of the Gladekeeper, and will eventually find its way back to life. It may seem odd that all this came from only five years after the war, but the legends of the Beastclans were not produced from thin air. After the burying of the Gladekeeper the chieftains made a pact to never speak of dragon kind again, and to raise the generations to come on new stories. They had been at war with the scaly beasts for long enough, and they did not want curiosity or foolish pride driving them to provoke the menacing elementals just when they had been freed. The chieftains and clan members grew old, had children, and passed on these fabricated stories of the past. The elders passed on at peace with their work, hoping their people would never again know war against a terror such as dragons.

OPTION 2
Light/Arcane/Ice (Asker) MISSING
When the war began, only ten deities stepped forward to defend their lands. The Tidelord was absent for a full year before he suddenly appeared from the depths, raising tsunamis of incredible proportion and magical density to wipe his region clean. He called upon the weakened deities and told them of a prophecy, the grandest and most end-timiest prophecy he had ever witnessed in his existence. He told them of a way to fuse their bodies and combine their strengths, and whom would be suited to whom. After this, he called aside the Lightweaver, Arcanist, and Icewarden to speak with in private. The three great deities were astonished when he told them they would form a triple fusion and become the most powerful being in not just Sornieth, but the galaxy as well. He told them that with their combined strength (and plethora of legs) they would be able to drive the Shade into space, encase it in enchanted ice, then send light and magic more brilliant and powerful than anything before it into this crystallized prison to effectively burn the Shade out of existence. The three did as they were told, merging into one extraordinarily powerful being bursting with questions and desire for knowledge. This immense deity became known as The Asker, and once they had driven back the Shade with the other deities it ascended into space, just as the prophecy had foretold, and went to burn out the shade. Yellow eyes, pink eyes, white eyes, all trained to the heavens, waiting for their deity to return. Years passed, and no sign of the Asker presented itself. Sornieth was unbalanced, chaos rooted deep within its heart and threatened dragons and Beastclans alike with extinction. The other four fusions set aside their squabbles, put down their popcorn, and woke from their sleep to set about fixing the problem. Somewhere up there, the Asker was waiting.
- Arcane/Light dragon behavioral changes**, Ice dragons lost interest in preserving their world and collecting, becoming even more apathetic than they already were. What Sornieth was left with was 148,347 depressed emos who could barely lift a claw to help restore their homes.
- Effects on territories**, the Southern Icefield, without frigid magic to keep it solid, began slowly to melt. So far it has lost 63% of its total mass, forcing thousands of dragons inland towards the deadly plague-fire clans. Many get caught up in dominance wars and are killed attempting to cross the border to the sea.

Water/Earth (Answerer) UNCONSCIOUS
The Tidelord was the last to merge, and seemed almost hesitant to give up himself for the good of all Sornieth. Some wish he had followed through with that hesitation. Whatever happened between the Earthshaker and the Tidelord during the war, it turned them into a vegetable when it was all over. Where a profligacy of prophecies had once presumed prestige, the deity’s mind grew scattered and thoughtless. They took to year-long naps, only waking at the summer solstice to receive news and be alerted if anything urgent was occurring. They seldom moved from their resting place, soon appearing just as any other mountain or rocky set of spires, save for the odd smooth bluish scale patch or fin. No one, not even the other deities, understood the change in demeanor of there once mysterious and soothsaying friend. During the war they brought forth hundreds of predictions that saved lives and aided in combatting the Shade. They even joined the fight when necessary! The dragons called them the Answerer, for they could answer any question asked of them. But now, they looked more like a comatose pile of mashed potatoes than a legendary deity fusion. The most they’ve helped in five years is to offer the suggestion to pick delegates to find the Asker instead of trying to do something themself. They selected the dragon that would represent them in saving Sornieth from total collapse not by looking over each candidate, but by randomly picking out a name from a scroll that happened to be lying nearby. After making a hasty announcement interrupted by multiple grumbling yawns, the Answerer promptly nodded off once again.
- The Answerer’s children are left to clean up whatever messes are made. They are being stepped on all over by the Creator and Destroyer, and laughed at by Leisure. Their borders are constantly disrespected, their laws disregarded, their clans overtaken, their security slaughtered, their hordes looted, lairs plundered, homes destroyed, and some dragon graffitied on the Answerer’s foot!! They are just about fed up with their deity doing a whole lot of nothing, and many are abandoning the flight after hearing stories about Leisure’s territory. And still the Answerer sleeps on...
- Territorial changes**
- Something isn’t right.

Nature/Lightning (Creator) FIGHTING
The Gladekeeper was quite surprised to find that she would be paired with someone who cared so little about his employees, and the Stormcatcher was quite surprised that he would be merging with someone so counterintuitive to the greater good. The two merged anyway, praying to the stars that the Tidelord was right. Lo and behold, suddenly the green growth was electrifyingly speedy. With the Stormcatcher’s efficiency and the Gladekeeper’s fecundity, forests sprang up in a matter of weeks. They became the Creator, and they worked hard at defending their new woodlands from Shade, in addition to driving it back. Many dragons found refuge in these dense areas, and as long as they worked to keep things in order they were allowed to stay. Shade creatures lost their way in the forests and became entangled by enchanted vines or ensnared by unfamiliar technologies. After the Shade was expelled by the Asker, the Creator maintained a steady work stream to integrate lightning and nature dragons and help spread their new home across Sornieth.
- The territory has settled on a happy medium between dense forest and barren desert. The lightning and nature dragons live tentatively in a stretch of savannah, dotted by trees and spires. The Creator can never seem to settle on a look though. ‘Subject to change’ signs are posted everywhere, and where one day you might have a lair in a small cave, the next you’ll have a cliff with metal spikes poking out. For convenience of dominance (see below) and graduating of territories, Leisure and the Creator decided to swap territories. The Tangled Wood was given to the Creator, and in return Leisure got the island of the Viridian Labyrinth. The Behemoth was transplanted, the area renamed, and the Creator was settled between the two regions. Well, almost settled.
- The Creator’s personality is not so much a mix of the Gladekeeper’s and the Stormcatcher’s, but more separate. They often stop by Tidehome to check in on the Answerer, while at the same time chastising them for being so lazy. They have been seen repeatedly arguing over what flora will decorate the Tempest Spire and if the Behemoth should be turned into some sort of enormous lightning rod. Sometimes the disagreement affects them so much they will freeze altogether for up to a week. Afterwards, it is assumed the stalemate has been resolved, as they seem to have gone back to normal.
- While for the other two dominance is a thing of the past, the Creator and the Destroyer battle constantly to retain and enlarge their borders. The rules of dominance have become fuzzy between the two territories, leading to sometimes fatal misinterpretations and land disputes. The two deities don’t seem to care about their dragons so much as winning, however. They only stop when meetings are held and can agree on one thing and one thing only: the Answerer is a lazy piece of garbage.*

Fire/Plague (Destroyer) FIGHTING
The Plaguebringer was said to make google eyes at the Flamecaller when their pairing was announced, and the Flamecaller was reported to have started sweating profusely upon noticing this. The Plaguebringer was never one for subtleties. The Tidelord had made a side comment to the three that would form the Asker after watching this disturbing interaction. He had said he hoped the three would return soon. He didn’t know how long Sornieth would last with a fusion as explosive as theirs would be. While Sornieth isn’t at risk of destruction because of them (yet), the Destroyer can certainly be described as explosive. With a short temper and a voracious appetite for blood, they were a formidable warrior on the battlefield. (Things here get pretty similar to the first option, so I’ll leave it at that)
- Infernace**
- Living Metal**

Wind/Shadow (Leisure) WATCHING
Drifting high above the clouds, looking down over all, the jovial Leisure drifts on mists and fogs. The Shadowbinder was embarrassed to be fusing with another deity of the same age, but once the two were together the real fun began. (See Shadowsinger for war tactics). Once the war was over, Leisure couldn’t decide which territory to keep since both were so far away. Instead, they swapped with the Creator and took the Viridian Labyrinth. They even helped transplant the Behemoth! Now however, they trail kites and balloons and small islands along behind them as the ceaseless battle between the two bickering siblings continues to play out. They even have an official betting stand on who’s going to win dominance! Every week they descend to pick up new passengers and check up on the island and its inhabitants. Then, it’s off to the skies again to place your bets!
- When the island traded claws, most of its growth was uprooted and transported to the Tangled Wood. Bamboo was brought from the Windswept Plateau brambles and pines from the wood, and soon a new forest had replaced the old. The magical transition between the territories went rather smoothly, and soon both shadow dragons and wind dragons were well accustomed and happy. A new vortex even replaced the gaping pit the Behemoth left!
- Shadow dragons’ behavioral change**
- The Beastclands of the island have become all but peaceful towards the dragons, and the species have learned to coexist, thrive, and party! They even had some interesting new types of board games they introduced to the dragons. If asked, they will say the island is a much happier place than it was when the Gladekeeper ruled. While they don’t like to involve themselves in the affairs of dominance anymore, the odd centaur or Talonok will place a bet from time to time.

Onyx, you're doing God's work; this is awesome!
I don't have the time to read this up now but, from the subheadings I can say that I personally prefer the idea of the second option but only by a sliver. I personally don't mind whatever option is decided upon.

Nice! Hope all goes well for your research as it has with all your extremely detailed note taking.

If I still decide I can do this, I'll definitely try doing better concept art for the deities and maybe the new forms the dragons have taken (for example, the plague-fire dragons growing tougher skin and more resilient bodies)

Been kinda busy this weekend and I'm only gonna be busier this week haha. Hopefully I'll find some time though 'cuz I reeeeaalllly wanna read all this awesomeness.

Thanks Nirin, and it’s really not much of a problem, it was heckin’ fun to make even though I was up all night!
It’s fine if you don’t have time to read it, in a nutshell:
Option 1: Stormwarden is apathetic bossman, Tideshaker is sleepy boi, Manaweaver is heckin’ gone, Plaguecaller is b o o m, Shadowsinger is w o o s h, and Gladekeeper is ded
Option 2: Asker-b-gone, Answerer has left the chat, Creator and Destroyer are two foxes screaming at each other while Leisure watches.

Hope that helped!
