"Abandoned hoards," he echoed, amused. How common were they and how valuable? The thought interested him yet if they did exist his captain wouldn't waste time looking. There was far more to be taken from a thriving clan than an abandoned hoard.
"Yes, the mainland is filled with much to be had," he agreed with Xyron. "There are not many like Tendon's that explore, especially when they have what they need," he added. "Though, Xyron does not consider exploring? He is a mirror, after all."
"Thank you," she nodded to the pale green snapper before her attention returned to Jaden. If her ally was in danger she was determined to find out. Tendon was odd but Ripley couldn't make the journey back to the auction house alone with her injury. The food smelled and looked delicious but Ripley's mind was set on finding some sort of answer before she gave in to her rumbling stomach.
"Is Tendon in any sort of danger?" she pried, concern hardening her words.

"He would imagine so," Tendon chuckled at Xyron's statement. Coastal clans were often the victims of pirates and when they left for safer places inland, it sometimes included leaving behind fallen ones and less valuable items from their hoard.
Instead of dwelling on the subject of plundering though he focused on Nova. "Tendon has noticed this," the skin-clad mirror remarked glancing at Xyron. The purple mirror wasn't as irritating as when they had first met him but it wasn't difficult to notice his energetic behavior.
"And Lief is the clan's captain?" Tendon inquired. "Or in charge of that which heals and tending to plants?" he added tilting his head.
Ripley relaxed though after seeing how Tendon and Xyron clashed concerned her. "Hopefully Tendon realizes that," she muttered before she turned her attention to the food finally. Within seconds the dragon was digging into the seafood, selectively eating fish and clams.
"Cook doesn't even make food this good," she admitted prying open a clam and slurping the contents. "The gods keep an eye on your cook so you don't lose such flavorful meals," Ripley praised, taking a moment to enjoy the roasted concoction of a bird.

Clan rankings were seeming to be a bit easier to understand as Nova went on. Tendon used to think they were complex or over-simplified. They never stayed around a clan long enough to get the gist of the ranking system nor did they need to.
"The clan is very organized," he praised. Surely, a clan this large had seen less peaceful times? If they'd ever pillaged clans that lived like this, the crew would require more planning instead of the simple 'ambush and attack' maneuver. "Has it ever been at war or attacked?" he asked. The question was direct though he wondered if he was starting to pry too far.
"Neither does Cook. He can't exactly do much with one hindleg and one foreleg except cook..." Ripley admitted. It sounded pitiful but the coatl managed to survive and if a crew armed from tooth to sword didn't fend off anyone, Cook's unnerving attitude and interests would. The snatcher was a dragon hatchlings were told to avoid, and the ship's galley was a place that adults were warned to avoid.
"Yes, it would," she agreed. The ship's numbers were rising but so far they didn't need a second cook though Ripley would make the suggestion to the captain when they returned. Though what dragon would be foolish enough to work alongside Cook is unfathomable, she thought.

"Pfah, the beastclans," he repeated stifling a chuckle. They didn't have problems with any of the notorious creatures save for maren and harpies and even the maren had their own boundaries in the sea.
He shook his head at Xyron's offer. It was safer to associate with as few dragons as possible. Dragons from former coastal clans might recognize them, or at least the distinct salty scent they had. It wasn't something he wanted to risk. "Tendon would be interest in seeing the rest of the clan's lair though," he admitted.
Ripley considered it for a moment. Would Cook be offended at the possibility of new flavors? She didn't speak with him often but surely he could appreciate suggestions from one cook to another. "Yes, please," she answered. "Even if he can't appreciate it I know the rest of the cre--" she stopped, catching herself in the midst of the word. "Ah, clan will. Ever since he decided to join us there's been less complaints about eating what we don't like when food runs short," she explained.

"Tendon has not eaten so well since he was a hatchling," he nodded glancing at Nova. "He thanks Nova for the food and looks forward to enjoying it for the rest of the time he and Ripley are with the clan," he added, a gleam of satisfaction apparent in his crimson gaze.
He stood up, feeling more full than he'd ever felt before as he turned to Xyron. "Where will the pair go next?" he inquired. If he and Ripley ate this well for the next few days they wouldn't have to worry about starving to death until they were close to the auction house!
"Thank you," she murmured before she started to eat one last selection of lobsters. She stifled a yawn, instead cracking open one of the claws with her teeth to get to the succulent meat within. What time of day was it beyond the safety of the lair? Or perhaps it was because she couldn't move and explore. Tendon was out and about, possibly causing trouble and doing something while she was forced to stay immobile. That Jaden had managed to stay this long without having to take care of other dragons was what kept her from unimaginable boredom.
