Nanza cast her eyes downwards as she cowered in the trees. The dirt around the clearing looked freshly disturbed as if someone had been digging or had buried something. There was puddles of red staining the ground and a single white feather Nanza clenched in her hand.

Kan.. Melvin..and now Melrae... why? She took a breath in, the tears streaming down her face. She stared down at her hands, trembling as her leg twinged in pain, surging with fire. The soldiers had come.. attacked her with their swords and their burning guns. She pressed one of her hands to her shoulder and came away with blood, while a second hand brushed delicately against the bleeding hole in her leg. She helped herself to the ground, weaving silk swiftly with her hands. She knit, her six hands moving smoothly and she wrapped her bleeding leg in the silk as well as covering her shoulder. Silk was remarkable at covering wounds. She had learned that from experience. Her eyes drifted to the six graves around where she sat. What had she done? Maybe she really was the monster they claimed her to be.

Nanza stood as she had finished, tucking her two extra arms up underneath her shawl to hide them from view. She needed to do her best and try and hide herself as she went into the nearest village. She needed some actual medicine, some food. Hopefully she would be safe in the next as long as she didn't attract any attention to herself. She slipped the feather into the rather warn deer leather satchel at her side and hefted a large bag over her shoulder rather effortlessly. Oh, right. This was a big bag.. probably heavy for someone of her size. She transferrred to both hands in an attempt to make it look as if she was struggling to lift it on her own. Right. Onwards.

"Sorry." Nanza muttered as she turned from the forest and started on her new journey.

Min shook her hoof in irritation, the chain chafing her ankle uncomfortably. Even after a month of working under him without trying to escape once, her master didn't trust her. She was dragging his wagon around for him, day in, day out, without more than a grunt of communication daily. Normally it wouldn't bother her so much. But she was hungry, and this master was particularly loose with his whip. Her back ached at the reminder.

She was chained with her front right hoof to a post beside the local inn, still wearing the ill-fitting wagon harness over her horse half and tattered shirt. No doubt her master was luxuriating inside, throwing away his money and forgetting all about the lowly starving slave outside. If she shifted forms, she could probably escape the chain. She could undo the harness, steal some stale bread from the wagon and run off. A smile twitched on her face, thinking of the man seeing her gone and standing dumbfounded in front of the wagon. He was just some merchant selling medicinal herbs, the local law wouldn't bother getting involved other than to lend him a new horse. Freedom was possible. She could do it.

She wouldn't, though. Min knew she had nowhere to go. Would it really be better to die starving and alone than as a slave?

No. Tossing her head, wishing she had hair to toss, she waited.

Nanza flitted through the new village, keeping her deep amber eyes on the ground. Keep your eyes down, don't make eye contact.. don't do anything suspicious. Her eyes drifted sideways despite her mental talk and she stopped, stopping short at a girl.. an +Anima like herself.. a horse anima judging from the lower half of her body being entirely made of a horse. She was chained up... like most +Anima tended to be.. slaves.

Nanza had lamented the fact that she was never chosen to be a slave herself at one point. It was when she had first been deserted and had nothing. She had survived off what little rotten food she could steal from garbage bins during the night, or whatever she could get thrown at her if she exposed her extra sets of arms.. now things were different, Melrae had helped her learn to hunt, and she had been fed... enough so she wouldn't starve at least. Now she only felt pity for the ones who were chosen.. they had to live their lives at the end of the short chain while she could run free wherever she wanted.

Nanza took a glance around the village. It was fairly deserted.. good.. that meant she would be able to do this without looking suspicious, likely no one was even paying attention to her anyways. Nanza placed her bag down and rummaged through it, pulling out a crab apple. She heaved the satchel back into her hands, grumbling and being unable to use the four extra ones she had stored under her over-sized shawl. She approached the +Anima and offered her the apple with a soft smile. She knew the haggard look in the girl's eyes too well.. the hunger..

"Hello." Her voice was remarkably soft and deep like velvet.

____

Dan took a swig from the glass at the table, wincing in disgust as the taste of alcohol wafted over his tongue. Disgusting fermented fruit, why was he even drinking this? He stared at the glass blankly. Oh right. Because he was bored, and the Tavern in any village was the best place for picking up information about anything anywhere. And if he couldn't pick up information.. there were at least a few decent women around. As he went to take another swig he saw a rather pretty young blonde woman wearing a massive shawl approach another remarkably average-looking woman with the lower half of her body shifted into a horse. An +Anima slave... was the blonde woman her master? No.. she was much too young, maybe a few years younger than himself. So a random passerby? What was she doing? He leaned away from the table and slid from the stool, sliding a single copper coin on the table as payment.

He moved to the door, watching as the blonde woman handed the +Anima slave a small crab apple. "Hello." her voice was surprisingly intense. Was she.. actually speaking to the +Anima? A normal woman speaking to an +Anima? He gave the blonde woman a once over. No.. she wasn't normal. There at her waist, the tiniest hint of silver. A blade of some sort? The shawl moved back to cover it before he could get a better look. For once he wished his anima was some kind of bird or something with good vision so he could get a better look without exposing himself. He chided himself. Don't get greedy. You have a great +Anima. He assured himself.

@Draconequis @Lamvin @kamiden (oopse. well better late than never)

It was a cool night, one of tranquility as shouts were muffled by the building below. Only a few were out tonight, and each face was perfectly captured, each move never forgotten as a silence of work graced her ears.
A pencil gracefully gliding across parchment, gently swipes crossing again and again to create a darker tone as the world around her was brought to life by her own hand. Faces in expression, buildings in wear yet where wildlife died she made flourish in her own way.

She was sitting on a roof top, legs swinging on a banister over the streets, her hair in two braid bound in wood carved beads. Hand grasping them every so often as eyes of ebony observed without a word.
Xafina was a dainty thing, a bird like tilt of the head as she continued with her art works, dressed in a brown tunic with black boots and pants she seemed to be void of color. As if she was trying her best to hide away from it.
Looking up again she began to observe the actives as some moved through the crowed with thoughts in their minds just waiting to be exposed for what they were.

Though her thoughts were cut short, wind picking up capturing her attention her hand flicked, the pencil falling through her fingers she reached out only to end in failure watching helplessly as her companion fell to the land beneath her.

Reptile opens the door to his own temporary house, his hand barely leaving the protection of his coat. He walks out, making sure the hood was up, before walking out. He didn't have many possessions, and those he did, he had no care for, so he left the door unlocked. He heads to the tavern, the soft sounds of chains dragging on the ground barely heard. He glances at the Horse +Anime and goes inside. As he passes the two girls, a small bag is dropped with a soft thunk. Inside the bag are two fresh slices of bread. Half of his daily meal. Seemingly not noticing, he enters the tavern, keeping his head low and heading to the darkest corner table. The patrons of the tavern shoot glances at him, but otherwise ignore him. He looks around for the 'Owner' of the +Anime outside, hoping he was easily visible.

The sudden approach from a stranger startled Min, and she stared at the girl with confused black eyes. Who was this pretty girl and why was she talking to a slave? She had a nice voice. When she offered an apple, Min felt her stomach rumble plaintively.

Her eyes flickered from the girl to the fruit, and she wondered if it was supposed to be some kind of joke on her horse-ness. Well, if it was, she couldn't care less. She snatched it up from the girl's palm greedily after a moment of hesitation. The whole thing was gone in a few bites, core and all. Heavenly. It wasn't enough, but it helped ease the ache slightly. Suspicious, she gave the girl another look-over. The blonde looked normal enough, minus the swords, but why would a normal girl give away her food to a +Anima? Min thought warily. Not to mention there was a faint but strong scent of blood around the girl. Suspicious as hell. Ah, whatever.

"A boon for a boon," she murmured, her voice mannishly low and a little hoarse from disuse. Heh, hoarse. From her shirt pocket she pulled out the keyring she had been in charge of protecting. It carried all of the keys to the chests in the wagon. "Take what you need, and don't come back, or he'll catch you." Careful not to jangle the keys too loudly, she offered them to her... well, not saviour, but definitely a spot of hope in these horrid days. Her master was a scoundrel, but he knew his trade. With the help of his medicinal herbs, the girl would be fine. She could handle his rage in the morning. After all, what was a few more blows for a favour repaid?

((oh wait dang, do i rp the master too? ALRIGHTY THEN))

Min's master was getting miserably drunk at the bar counter, loudly complaining to whoever was nearby about the dumb horse he'd bought, and how he wanted a refund because it was sloppy and lazy, and ate too much, and never listened to him, damnit! His cheeks were ruddy, and he swayed like a frond in the wind. As the people around him ignored him, he muttered darkly under his breath about butcher prices and horse meat.

(Forgive me all, im on mobile today :) )

Nanza stared at the key. This was a cart filled with medicine. Probably something she needed right now, considering she had several gunshot wounds. She was particularly worried about the one on her leg which was still burning slightly. She'd have to remove the bullet at a later time, somewhere where they couldn't see her extra arms. And she'd need medicine. Nanza's eyes drifted to the horse girl and she made a decision. "If I do that, you would get in trouble." she pushed the key back towards the girl with a soft smile. She would have to deal with her wounds another way. Meanwhile there was the matter of this girl. Why didn't she escape? Was she so far gone into slavery that she couldn't survive outside her chains?

Nanza fumbled nervously with her oversized shawl. She hadnt wanted to stay here longer than she needed, keeping her extra arms tucked up wasnt necessarily the most comfortable thing in the world. Well, she could deal with being uncomfortable for a bit longer.

She jumps as the thunk of bread lands near her feet. An impressively tall young man with a blindfold saunters past and she hefts the bag into her hands. "He dropped this." she paused "I'd better return this when he comes back out then." She wasnt about to go into the tavern...not as a girl and not on her own.

Dan heard the drunken drawl of the clear owner of the horse +Anima behind him. He rolled his eyes and toik a step out of the bar. The poor woman looked half starved. For that matter so did the pretty blonde. He wandered further out of the bar and something fell from the sky. On instinct, Dan shot out his trunk and deftly caught the object. Whoops. He quickly dropped the object to his hand and shrunk his trunk away so hr looked human again. He stared at the item in his hand. A pencil? He turned his eyes to the sky to see a rather pretty bird-like woman. Interesting. And now he couldn't decide what to do.

His Anima pinged in alarm as a tall man passed him, he could sense something was different about him. A fellow +Anima? There was something about this man that made him uneasy, however. He decided to ignore the young man and stared up at the bird-like woman again. What was she doing on the roof? Now this woman was interesting.

Displeased with the rejection, Min frowned and watched silently as the girl was distracted by some dropped thing or other. The girl didn't really need to go out of her way for her sake. Was it not obvious from the grazes and scars over her body that she was used to rough treatment? It was almost incredible, how kind this girl was. Immediately upon picking some passer-by's bag up, she decided to return it to its owner, despite it holding bread? She was clearly just as hungry as Min was, but she had put someone else before herself twice now. Ridiculous. Undeniably admirable, but ridiculous. If Min was free, she would never...

Ah, right, but she wasn't. Gruffly, she muttered almost to herself, "I'll live through another whipping, unlike you if you don't tend your wounds properly."

A sudden movement nearby made her turn. A man had jerked, as if to catch something, and for a minute she saw a trunk, big and grey and obvious. Fool, she thought, glad he was close enough to her wagon that it mostly shielded him from sight. Elephant +Anima were rare and powerful, highly sought after by the rich. If he wasn't careful, he would end up in worse chains than her own.

Reptile hums softly at his complaining. Getting up, he walks through the crowd, sitting next to the man. The bartender glares at him, but otherwise does nothing. "The Horse Anima outside is yours, then?" Reptile asks, his voice sounding genuinly interested. "If you want to get rid of her, I know somebody who can take her off your hands, get you a more...obediant one. An elephant one as well, though he can't come in here. Too loud for him." Reptile says. On the outside, he sounds interested. On the inside, he's disgusted. 'If the man accepts, he will find himself in a precarious position.'

<< Woot, mobile buddies! I hope he follows Reptile... *evil chuckle* >>
