Eiko shrugged. "I have nobody to nominate." They personally didn't care who took control over the tribe- just as long as they got some sort of promotion. They were tired of being a foot soldier, when they could put their intelligence to use for their tribe.

"Does anyone else have any nominees?"

One of the higher-ranking soldiers- Eiko didn't exactly know their name- spoke up from the crowd. "I nominate Taiyang. She's shown good leadership before- she's one of the leaders of the border outpost patrol. She's kept us safe for this long- who's to say that if she's chieftain, it'll be any different?"

A sandy-yellow dragoness shoved her way through the crowd to show her face to the members of the village.

Nobody else spoke. Eiko glanced over the two nominees, trying to judge which one would be best to vote for. On the one hand, they needed to follow up on their plan and offer their support for whatever Blaste was doing. On the other, Taiyang looked like she would be more competent and stronger as a leader.

They glanced throughout the silent crowd. "Let's cast our votes then."

"Sounds like a plan," Eiko replied. "Simple, yet effective." They turned once again to the crowd. "If your vote is for Taiyang, raise your hand now."

Around half of the assembled villagers raised their hands- Eiko included. With the threat of war on the horizon, they knew that if they wanted the tribe to survive, they would need a decent leader at the helm. Apparently, half the villagers knew that too.

"Now for the other candidate."

Eiko turned away. In the end, they would make their own decisions, but they definitely didn't want to make any enemies.

The other half of the crowd raised their hands, and Eiko performed a quick tally. It was pretty close, but, after a moment of calculations, it seemed that the tribe was ready for a more intelligent leader over one who relied on force.
