The Plague lands were ripe with puss and pestilence this time of year. After the battering of maelstroms the Stormcatcher had sent to the Plaguebringer, the land was scarce of food after prey and predator alike hid from the acid rain. Bad times meant desperation. And desperation always meant there was work to be done. The Wasteland was always promising, everything was in a perpetual state of decay. But they hadn't been there in a long time. There was work to be done elsewhere. But mostly, they were avoiding it. Two lone dragons calmly walked along the festering lands until they reached a shallow cave. The threat of dawn loomed over the horizon and soon the dragons that preferred the comfort of the shadows would seek shelter. This shelter. The dark coatl navigated the craggy floor with ease while the other took her time stepping over pointy stones and uncomfortable pebbles. She let out a sigh. "Something the matter?" Asked the other. She looked up at her partner. "I am just hoping they make the right choice." She replied, her brow furrowing with concern. The darker one let out a dry laugh. "The right choice would be to not make a deal at all." With another sigh, she situated herself by her companion at the back of the cave. It didn't matter how or when, but they would wait as long as possible. Of course, they knew they wouldn't have to. He would come to them soon enough. @MidnightRaven

Kurin didn't want to be here.

He didn't want to be in the heart of enemy territory- the Scarred Wasteland had done him nothing but wrong. He told himself that he'd only left hiding out in the Shrieking Wilds to talk to the assassin- see if he could get her to join him. Then he would clear out of there before his clan found him, because without a doubt, they were after him.

He'd heard that the assassin was skilled- she never had been caught. Most of the time, she killed without a trace. Of course, he had his own ways to out her expertise to use. Kurin had a long list of dragons he wanted revenge on. And no matter how many followers he managed to get, there were only so many hours in a day, and only so many things he could do without blowing his cover. So he needed a little outside assistance.

Kurin had been told that she was somewhere this way. He wanted to recruit her and give her a job-he wanted revenge against the dragon who had orchestrated the death of his brother. And he wanted to do it without putting Adare in the way like he would if he just full-on attacked the clan. Outsourcing was the only way.

He came to landing in a dead tree to rest for the night. He was tired and due to his small size, he couldn't cover as much ground as he would like. So he quickly folded his wings, adjusted his mask, and curled his tail around a branch so that he would fall off. A quick nap would do the trick, and then he could find the assassin.

oooh sorry i think i said this before but pactmakers aren't very well known so Kurin wouldn't really know about it???? he could be in the wasteland for other reasons but its more like Caedis and Anarinnon find him versus him finding them ))

@MidnightRaven (its okay! Thanks! )
Dawn was here. Anarrinon stirred as her companion arched her neck. Caedis had her gaze fixed on the entryway of the shallow cave, lips curling into a cruel smile.
"There's someone outside the cave." She whispered.
"Someone in need of a wish?" Anarrinon didn't bother to keep her voice down.
"Aye."
The coatls sat back, one with a look of serenity and the other with vicious excitement. Their client was found. All they needed to do now was bide their time.
The sun would chase the shadow dweller inside.

Kurin woke to the sun streaming in his eyes.

He nearly fell out of the tree he was sitting in as he stretched and yawned, trying to shake the sluggishness off. He couldn't afford to be slow. He had to keep moving.

Shadowbinder, the sun was bright. He hadn't experienced it in all its full glory in a while. The clouds that normally covered the sky were gone. Of course, hiding in the shade of the Shrieking Wilds certainly didn't do anything for his daytime eyesight. Or the discomfort of its rays against his scales.

He should get out of the sun. His black body was easily visible. Kurin jumped out of the tree before adjusting his mask and looking for a place to hide.

He found one nearby- a hole in the ground leading to a cave. Kurin decided to take a look, Shadow magic at the ready in case he ran into anyone.

They both heard the scuttle of stones as someone scrabbled into the cave. Anarrinon couldn't help but giggle in her excitement to which she received a shove from Caedis. It was a process they often practiced, one that almost always promised success. Together the two of them focused their energies and weaved together a most magnificent aroma. To Anarrinon, it was the smell of flowers with sea salt tinging the air. To Caedis, it was the smell of blood on stone and dust. And to their visitor, it would be irresistible.
As they had done so many times before, the two waited together, luring their prey closer. Step by step.

Kurin had just crossed the threshold when a certain scent hit him right in the nose.

The smell he had come to associate with survival: blood and dying prey. Even if he was a Fae, he had developed a taste for meat.

The smell was so powerful that Kurin couldn't smell anyone else inside. So he went further into the cave, almost running with anticipation. He was so hungry. So very hungry. And now- he would eat. Finally.

Caedis couldn't help but flash her usual cold smile as they heard the visitor bounding towards them. She regained her composure as he approached. Anarrinon leaned back, letting her sister have the first word. They dispersed their aroma almost immediately after he arrived. Caedis had the first word; and it was delivered with a smile made of gleaming white fangs.
"Welcome."

Kurin jumped as the smell dispersed and the voice spoke. His stomach growled in protest of the disappearance of the promise of food. "Who are you?" he growled. His heart was racing. He couldn't afford to be found, why had he let his guard down?!

At least his mask and hood were still up- nobody could see his face anyway. Hopefully.
