Asteraoth sorry for the ping but I saw you saved a spot for entry and wanted to let you know that this ends in a week, so if you'd still like to enter you have time!
Decided to give it a shot writing for 'Umahi', who goes by Shilo in this tale. Please let me know if there is any trouble accessing the google document! Also best of luck to everyone who enters, I've loved browsing through all the entries and there are so many amazing stories here!

a tale for shilo
“What’s wrong, Shilo?”
Talos glanced down, the fabric of his robes wrinkling where his daughter grasped it tightly in her hands. The reply came as a timid and innocent whisper. “Scared”. Talos smiled as he gently lifted the child in his arms. “Ah, another nightmare then?” he replied softly, wiping a tear from his daughter’s cheek. “It’s ok, there’s nothing to fear”.
“Now, where is your sister? Perhaps a bedtime tale is in order”. Shilo sniffled slightly, burying her face into the soft fabric of Talos’ robes as she dried her tears. “Will you tell us another story about your adventures, father?” The larger Imperial hummed, his voice vibrating deeply. “Of course, if that is what you wish”.
Talos’ stories were always fantastic. Certainly, there were few challenges and dangers that he had not experienced and overcome in his life. “Remember” he would say as he blew out the candle, “there is nothing to fear”. Despite her father’s reassurances, Shilo still found herself pulling the covers tightly over herself in the night. When the lights went out, she imagined strange things in the darkness and her dreams made her heart race. Despite everything, she found herself afraid. . ."
