TOPIC | [MJ] Cloudsong Celebration (closed)
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ... 11 12
Thanks to everyone who participated and helped to make this a fun event! The Celebration will return next Jamboree.

It's a glorious day in the Windswept Plateau. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and, of course, the wind is blowing. Just perfect for a party... and everyone is invited!

The Cloudsong has always been considered a great place for a party, but today it is looking even more impressive than usual. Some of the clans who reside in the giant construct have been working day and night on preparations for the Jamboree, and it shows. Fresh paint gleams, polished wood shines, ribbons have been tied on every railing. A steady stream of dragons is heading towards the massive kite. Some are flying on their own, some ride in balloons piloted by Wind dragons, but all are eager to arrive and start enjoying themselves.

Even before visitors get to the Cloudsong, their entertainment begins. Squadrons of spirals fly past, performing feats of aerial acrobatics with breathtaking skill and synchronicity. Skydancers clad in silks and finery dart gracefully through the air. You even spot one playing a lute in midair, an impressive display of coordination. A snapper stationed on the landing platform is beating a drum and using Wind magic to make her voice carry on the breeze, singing a song of greeting to arriving guests.

Inside the revelry is well under way. Wind dragons are entertainers at heart, and scattered all through the wide open space are musicians strumming instruments, dancers whirling to the music, poets reciting epic compositions. All manner of dragons are flying overhead, performing tricks. They share space with enchanted kites that swoop and soar in formation. There is a face painting station for hatchlings in one corner. A spiral has a crowd in stitches as she demonstrates knot-tying, using herself as the knot. And everywhere dragons are hurrying around offering food, trinkets, and party favors to guests, because what is a party without food and presents? Try the toasted grasshoppers, they're simply divine!

Come and enjoy yourself at the Cloudsong Celebration! This is a casual RP giveaway that runs for the week of Mistral Jamboree. To enter, simply post a comment in an RP format about your dragons enjoying themselves at the party, and I will post an RP reply and give you random stuff! It can be two sentences or ten huge paragraphs, you'll still get something nice. You can enter once every day.

If you're feeling competitive, there's an RP contest too! Go check it out! Or you can find other fun stuff to do in the Mistral Jamboree hub.

This will be Mesalajel's first time to Cloudsong, and her first Mistral Jamboree! She's barely had time to get used to living with other dragons, much less visiting an entire floating city jam-packed with them! She could have flown herself up here, but an older and wiser dragon from her clan urged her to take one of the hot air balloons so that she could better enjoy the sights, and he was absolutely right. She jostles amongst the other dragons, moving from one side of the basket to the other to take it all in, until eventually someone tells her to stop because she's rocking the whole contraption! Oops. She sheepishly picks one side and stays there for the rest of the trip. The myriad of floating platforms, with all their colorful sails and balloons and waving banners and streamers, the giant pinwheels sparkling in the sun, the windmills--Everything is larger than life in this bustling, floating metropolis! When the balloon finally lands on the largest platform of them all, Mesalajel is greeted by the thick scents of roasting and grilling food, as well as the music--beautiful in its discordance as multiple groups play in different parts of Cloudsong--all drawing her into the heart of this unique and thrilling place. There are dozens of stalls and merchant tents, all vying for her attention with colorful displays of their wares, but all she can think about for the moment is food. She hunts about until she finally comes across a vegetarian grill run by an older tundra, and he sells her skewers of different plants from the far reaches of the world, things she's never tasted before in her life. Wandering around eating, she stops in front of a poet reciting an tale of the epic deeds of the Windsinger and the history of their Flight, and sits down to listen. Later on, she finds her purse of treasure lightening as she picks up all kinds of trinkets from around Sornieth, presents, she tells herself, for her clanmates. At some point she gets pulled into a congo line that is weaving and winding its way through the city, with the members singing some ridiculous, hilarious chant about bringing the Windsinger home, which she quickly learns the verses to and joins in!

Shikasa had spent all week creating the most beautiful kite she could, ending up multiple times completely soaked in glue. She couldn't wait for the trip home to the Windswept Plateau, she hadn't been back since not long after hatching! The skies full of kites helped guide her way as she carried her own upon her back, anxious to fly it. It took her most of the morning to reach home from the Spiral Keep, but a few others of the Godling Collaborative had com with to keep her company (and out of trouble)

Meena looked around shyly. She hasn't brought a kite, but surely she could buy one? What she had brought was her flute, and though this was probably a good way to join in with the festivities, she didn't feel like it. Rather, she put her flute away and sang and danced and clapped along to the music, her voice like the wind.

Meraki looked around in wonder. He himself wasn't a Wind dragon, but who knew they could pull this all off? The winds were perfect for flying that day. Well, correction.
Flying AND dancing. He leapt into the air gracefully, letting the wind carrying him in its gentle hands. His lovely painted wings guided him through the moves. One beat, two beats. He looped and spiraled through the air gleefully, his eyes filled with bliss.

He wasn't officially part of the party planning, but he's been flying from party-goer to party-goer and handing out little beaded bracelets. They're orange and green, with 2 small bird feathers hanging off the main bead. This is only one of many places he'll travel over the week to hand out these bracelets and gifts!

But this time, her Clanmates had managed to persuate her: She would surely regret it later if she didn't join the others during this year's Jamboree! Being so small that she fears the other dragons might wipe her off the sky with their enormous wing flaps, she decides to travel with one of the balloons. Eyeing the wonderfully painted patterns on the balloons and kites around her, she gets more and more excited for this event. She probably won't talk a lot to others and rather watch them, trying the crispy insects served by the hosts and listening to the strange, yet harmonious music. But that's absolutely fine with her- having everyone around her in such a good and light mood is all she was hoping to experience.

They fly around on their own when she is resting, but as she leaps into the air to lead a performance, they come from every corner of the room to flock around her. First there is formation flying. They make a V, a diamond, a swarm of ever-changing shape as they follow their leader. They make a ring that the nocturne "jumps" through, fluttering dramatically. They form up in the shape of a nocturne and do a little dance with their leader, each mimicking the other in turn to great comedic effect. It turns into a game of follow the leader as the nocturne flies in a loop. They form a wheel that rotates around and around, faster and faster, until she breaks away and rockets across the hall, the kites following. Up, down, slaloming around columns and just missing other fliers, soaring to the ceiling and swooping just over the heads of the crowd. She is flying at breakneck speed, and it seems like she must crash into something, but she never does. Her paper minions don't miss a beat, trailing her every move. It's like watching ducklings follow their mother, if ducklings could do an Immelman turn. The performance ends with the nocturne suddenly flaring her neon wings out and stopping in the dead center of the hall. Her kites whoosh off in all directions, and as she does a little bow they rain trinkets down on the guests who watched the show. @Aelfrey Mesalajel will have plenty of presents to bring home! @SeaGodling The nocturne catches Shikasa's eye and gives her a thumbs up. All kites are good kites! @Birddragon936 Think fast, Meraki! The nocturne tosses him a present as she flits past. @Frogata A package narrowly avoids landing on Xanthus's head as he distributes his gifts. In Wind, generosity is often repaid! @Shougoney One of the kites makes sure Fides doesn't miss out on the experience.

Meraki panics for a second, then he grabs the present with his back talons when he misses it with his front and grins at the Nocturne. "Thanks!" he says with a grin on his face.

Celeste gazed in wonder at the bright Nocturne and her kites. This was her first Mistral Jamboree, and she was loving every bit of it! Glancing around, she spotted a big buffet piled high with serrated beaks, potash peaches, zebra crickets, vampire eels, and countless other delicious trays of food. Celeste quickly zeroed in on a platter of her favorite insects, white lace honeybees, and began making her way through the crowd to snack on some. She settled with a small plate of the bees and continued marveling at the show.

Her clan had managed to move to the Cloudsong just as the festivities began and Breeze was having a wonderful time taking in the busy city. There were so many dragons laughing and dancing in the wind, and the sights and sounds of various events and food stalls was almost overwhelming in comparison to the peacefulness of the Zephyr Steppes. It was nice taking a break from training and she was so excited to meet other dragons enjoying the festivities.
