This is a Kingdomlocke coli challenge! As the rules are quite extensive, they will not be repeated here. To prevent burnout and accomodate real life, I won't be holding myself to a strict daily schedule, more a "whenever I get around to it". For savings' sake I have pulled three level 1s from my HibDen rather than buying fresh, ungened dragons, but future dragons will be bought or bred and named per challenge rules.
Bonus rule: As long as there are enough dragons to accomodate such, at least one dragon in a nesting pair must stay with the nest (and hatchlings) until the young are either grown or exalted.

The Fae is small enough that it fits, wings and all, under one of Runi's paws. He lowers his head to sniff the intruder-- salt and blood, the faint rot that always seems to cling to Plaguelings, nothing to prove or disprove its tale of being blown off-course-- and gets a pebble to the snout in turn. Runi snorts, recoiling reflexively, as the Fae glares up at him. Its dorsal frills are crushed, of course, but the two remaining to it flare belligerently.
"Eat me or let me up," it rasps, unformed mana gathering around its maw again, "but stop bloody dithering about it."
Tempted as Runi is to take it up on its offer-- seal gets tiresome after a while, and other animals large enough to feed a Gaoler are few and far between on the floes-- he can't help but think of how short-handed they are. He might be a Sentry, but even he has to sleep sometimes, and at least one of his companions will be nestbound until their clutch proves one way or the other. And the Fae is... admirably straightforward, if horribly outmatched by a dragon an order of magnitude larger than itself.
"The king will decide what to do with you," he decides, already considering how to phrase his suggestion to Yamato. An appeal to the safety of the eggs, perhaps. "Think of ways you can be of use to the Icewarden, and he may even keep you."
"Of use," the Fae repeats as Runi carefully lifts his paw, ready to slam it back down if it tries to flee, and it carefully finds its feet again. Its dorsal frills flex and stretch and flinch as at least one of the tines refuses to move with its siblings. "Right. Fly across the entire Bay of Beasts ahead of a gale-come-blizzard just to find the reddest of white-eyes. Of course." It tests its wings, and Runi reaches down with his own to grab one at the forejoint. The Fae flattens its frills at him, but sighs. "Take me to this king, then. Let's get this over with."

"I will not," Pearsal snarled, fins pinned back and eyes blazing with power, "have you die out here after all your bluster about strength yesterday. Yesterday," he repeated, with what passed for Fae emphasis-- which is to say a lash of his tail. "I'm not raising your giant bloody hatchlings, either. Shape. Up."
Yamato growled back, shuddering as the foreign magic set into his flesh. "I'd like to see you do half as well out here on your own." A bone-deep itch settled into his wounds as they knit together, and he struggled to hold himself still. The last thing he needed was for Pearsal to seal his throat entirely shut from some unfortunate twitch of muscle.
"And if you were on your own," Pearsal bit out as scales knit themselves together over the fresh scar, "you would be dead now. You're welcome."

Ice condenses around Yamato all at once, too quickly for any of them to react; his bellow of rage is cut short, his mouth frozen open, and Pearsal's heart drops. He's so big, and the dryad's eyes are still blazing with power, and without Yamato there's barely a chance of winning this fight.
"Retreat," he snaps at Eithne; the Bogsneak hisses back wordlessly, circling around towards the grove's heart-tree. The dryad snaps his head towards her, a miniature blizzard gathering around him again, and Pearsal swears to himself and throws a stone at him to interrupt the cast. They might not be dragons, barely smaller than the average Fae, but they still need to focus for their magic to work.
If only Eithne would take the damn distraction and run-
There's an eerie, high-pitched warble, a loud bone-crack snap, and Pearsal shoots into the air to avoid flying shards of ice-- not from the dryad they're fighting, but from behind. He darts between branches and turns back on himself to look, and nearly falls back to the ground.
Half the grove is flattened, blackened, and flames lick up the base of the heart-tree. The dryad creaks something-- plantspeak or wordless pain, Pearsal doesn't know-- and falters in the overwhelming heat. The thermal bears Pearsal even higher, above the treeline, but he can still see deep garnet and sapphire in the center of the crater.
Yamato roars, and birds for miles around join Pearsal in the sky.

Meat: 40-50 battles

Desertwing chatters excitedly at the Ridgeback, stopping just short of perching on his face; Leonine (high-low slide eventone, not that she's run into other Coatls that can pronounce it properly in months) watches his smaller companion instead, his red and white hide surprisingly good camouflage in the scrub forest they've found each other in. She can't throw stones about red eyes when she's so far from her own hatchlands, but they still send a shiver down her spine as they flicker between her and her Aether companion. His mouth doesn't move. His frills are all but pinned in clear annoyance, and every now and then he turns his blood-eyes on his partner and hisses-- wordlessly, Leonine thinks, and very quietly.
Eventually, Desertwing's looping course brings her back to rest by Leonine's side; she raises a wing in welcome and her neck frills in inquiry. The Aether chatters excitedly, then remembers to raise her foremost legs to sign along with her vocalizations. "They say they've got a safe place to rest if we help with their hunts!"
"Hunting?" Leonine can't help the skeptical tilt to her question-- sung, as Desertwing's much better at listening than singing herself. "Do we need to?"
"Well, the weather's already turning! You've seen our summer, but real snow will be coming in soon." Her hands falter, though she keeps her wings high and cheerful. "And I get the impression that it isn't an offer so much as, uh, they might attack us if we say no," she adds without verbalizing along for once. "The big guy's really big. And insistent."
"He is big," Leonine agrees, tilting her head to keep track of the strange dragons. The Fae is hissing at 'the big guy' again, apparently distracted, but the Ridgeback is staring at them. Neither Ridgebacks nor Fae eat meat. With a mixed-species clan, though, who knows who they're hunting for? The Ridgeback certainly looks like he'd kill them both either way. "Well. We'd better help hunt, then, shouldn't we?"

"The loudmouth? Hah. No." Eithne kept her crest pulled close to her neck against the chill, but the tips of its tines still flicked with amusement. "He's a strong brute, sure enough, but Pearsal's the one to watch."
"The Fae?" Desertwing tipped her head, two hands idly translating their conversation for Leonine as the other two packed a deep gash left in her flank during their last battle.
"The mage, yes. If he were of a size for it, I'd half-expect him to have challenged Yamato by now. Too prideful to vanish into the night, but none too happy with being pressed into service either, if I'm any guess."
"Pressed? Is this done often, then?" Leonine's voice was careful and even-toned in the way of most Coatls in their second language, only barely hitching as Desertwing continued her work.
Eithne snorted. "'Often' is a strong word when we've only been out on our own since Carnivale, but no, you two aren't the first our fearless leader has decided join or die. It's going to get him killed one of these days, probably, but that's his problem."

Pearsal's first mistake was venting his frustrations on anyone but the cause of them.
His second was picking a fight with a brooding dragon over her own eggs.
Frills slick to her neck in residual rage and fear, Leonine left the sundered corpse to warm her nest and slunk to the other, older den in the outpost. She stopped short of actually entering-- she'd had quite enough of fighting for one day, thank you-- and lowered her snout to call into the darkness, "Eithne?"
The peeps of the hatchlings greeted her first-- two voices still, good-- before the timbre of the ground warned her the adult Bogsneak was coming up to speak in person. Leonine retreated politely, and soon enough the green head emerged. Eithne paused, looking her over, then said, "he tried something, didn't he?"
Leonine nodded, focusing intently on the shapes of the words; Eithne was nearly as monotone as a Fae, most of the time.
"Dead yet or just gutted?" she added after a short, scenting breath of the air aboveground.
Leonine nodded again.
Eithne snorted. "Idiot. Why are all the drakes in this camp idiots? Bring what's left over here, fresh meat will do them good."
Leonine froze partway through another nod-- a kill was a kill, yes, no place in Nature to waste food-- but this kill was a dragon. He should at least be--
Well.
He would've been a kin-slayer if he'd succeeded. And had she really expected anything else, coming to Eithne for advice in the aftermath? Another wandering child of the Gladekeeper, on the hunt in this frozen desert, with two mouths of her own to feed? A kill was a kill. The hatchlings needed to eat, and seafood was too oily for their little bellies yet even if it was easier to come by.
"Thank you," she murmured in the flat toneless language of the wider world, and turned to obey.
