She's a bit hostile and cold-hearted at first, but only because she has been shunned for the majority of her life. Even her name means 'regret' to make matters worse. It isn't soft like fur or feathers, yet not sharp like claws or blades. No, this is what they call 'grass' and the earth. It was almost soothing to the touch, as if this world welcomed me with open arms, asking me to explore it and experience every last inch of it. It was... fascinating. I have traveled galaxy after galaxy, and not once have I seen a world as interesting and warm as this one. There have been stories amongst us stars, but none of us have gone to view it personally - at least without rumor stating that once you do, they never leave. I shake the warning aside. It would not be a great start of this journey to worry about such minute things. I knew where I belonged, and it wasn't here but I still could not help but to explore. Glancing upward to the skies above, I could see my siblings watch with awe and concern, but I could not help but glow in confidence that I will be successful in this journey. Stars were popular among other beings, or so we were told. Rumors and stories of all kinds described us, and we knew that this world was one of them. They made us guardians with many types of stories that they would gaze from the very earth. They describe us as wish granters - as silly as that sounds. All in all, I find no reason for this world to believe I am a threat to them, nor believe that they would be a threat to me. Now, to venture forth and see what I can learn of this world. And yet, a part of me wondered where everyone was. Surely they wouldn't miss out on viewing the presence of my siblings on a fine night as this one, especially as one has decided to come for a visit. [i]'This world is asleep, dear Zvesda,'[/i] I heard the stars whisper to me. [i]'They mostly wake when their sun rises over their horizon.'[/i] Ah, so this is their 'night', I mused. Though, that didn't stop me from disliking the lack of an audience. The only company I could gain were the other stars above me and the flora and fauna that reside here. [i][b]'Stranger.'[/i][/b] I would try to approach them as warmly as I could, just as their earth welcomed me; however, as soon as I would take a step towards them, I could only see fright before they scampered away. [i][b]'Enemy.'[/b][/i] Some would hiss or flare up in warning to not approach closer, forcing me to stay back. I knew better than to push this limit, and yet I wanted to know why they were so frightened of me. Surely it wasn't because I had chosen the form of one of this world's breeds, was it? I have made my studies of which breed would be best to disguise as before starting my adventure here and their Wildclaws felt perfect. Perhaps I was wrong? [i][b]'Get out..!'[/b][/i] Even if I backed off, some would still chase me off and it would leave me no choice but to run away, while other times I did my best to defend myself. Of course, I despised violence and had wanted to be here without resorting to it, but if this had to be the way of this world, then I would not let myself be overcome so easily. I would only weaken them to let them know that I am not here to kill but will not object to protecting myself. Some of them got the idea while others continued their strikes. [i]'So violent...'[/i] I felt my heart sink with sorrow as the thought of how these creatures live. I could even hear the faint cries of my siblings up there as they watched - some tried to convince me to leave the world and back home. But why should I already? I barely have seen this world in this short span of time; and yet, why should I stay when I, a star, am not welcomed? "You do not belong here!" I felt my very being freeze up. It had seem that the thoughts of these very creatures started to be heard outside of my senses, and these very words pierced right through me. Did they feel that strongly about me being here? Were the stories about us stars being their guardians and wish granters false? Perhaps I was just that naïve in hoping that this world would be so welcoming. "Pathetic..." A new voice reached my senses, and I immediately perked my head up. It was close and different than the other voice I heard before. This one held a tune, albeit a sorrowful one. With the guidance of my siblings, I was able to spot the owner of said voice, seeing that they were another dragon (if I remember my research correctly, these were called a Coatl). Their feathers were dark as the night sky, spotted along the edges similar to that of stars (interesting!). Their eyes were of a dark shade of violet, leaving me to believe they were of the realm of Shadows. Yet, with the look of their expression, especially their eyes, they were not happy. Anger and sorrow was very apparent. What happened? Was the statement before actually directed to this lone, dark feathered Coatl? But why? I headed towards this dragon, my curiosity getting the best of me. "Excuse me, dear Coatl. Why are you upset?" I spoke as soon as I was sure I was in speaking range. Unfortunately the Coatl jumped back and away from me, their feathers and wings flared out, as if preparing a fight. I simply backed off, allowing them space to ensure them that I wasn't here to harm them without a reason to.[/size][/color][/font] [font=cambria][color=792FB2][size=4]"Who are you?!"[/size][/color][/font] [font=cambria][color=708090][size=4] Again, her words held a unique tone to it, as if they were almost singing as they spoke. This must be that special trait of the Coatl I have learned about. I must learn more. "Your voice, I can hear sadness within your tone." I responded, ignoring their question (I was simply too distracted by this moment to fully pay attention). Confusion started to form on their expression, though their feathers certainly did not lower themselves - they must still be on the defensive. So far she doesn't seem to understand what I truly am and that I was not just a 'Wildclaw' of this world. The name echoed in my mind as I memorized it and let it be familiar to me. Her name... it felt strong yet sorrowful. It gave off such a strong aura to it that I wasn't sure how one should feel from such a name. I almost wanted to ask her more to see if those feelings I felt were what I was suppose to feel - but I held off, knowing it would only piss her off more. "Zvez...da." I spoke instead, letting my own name roll off my tongue with such unfamiliarity. There was a pause in the atmosphere as Rue looked back at me once more, almost dazed that I even spoke in the first place (though I have said many other words before now!). She spoke as if she was no longer fazed but instead had heard of my name before. I wanted to ask as more questions flooded my mind, but I held back once more. The questions would have to wait for now as I watched her suddenly yawn and stretch out her serpentine body, wings out stretched and the end of her tail curling. With her suddenly asleep, I couldn't help but glance to the skies once again, only noticing the shift in color it held. No longer was it the dark sea with my sparkling siblings, but instead faint hues of oranges and pinks. I knew this was their sun hitting this part of their world, but to view it here with my very own eyes was a brand new experience I didn't realize I would have. How could one sleep so soundly as the sun painted their sky with color? This sight was so rare, I'm sure, and was I ever so grateful that I was able to see such a view. Yet... to the creatures of this world, this sight was possibly so common to them that they simply ignored it, just as Rue had. Or perhaps they haven't discovered such a view due to their sorrows and anger. Whatever it was, I'm sure I would find out one way or another. For now?
