These guys grow in clusters on the sides of trees, not upright on the ground like many other mushrooms, and they have mostly flat caps. Though it can be grown and farmed, it is very sought after to forage for wild ones because they are very tasty, perfect for our soup! These strange mushrooms pop up very quickly after rain, and then the whole mushroom slowly begins to “melt” into a liquid that contains its spores, in order to spread them again when it next rains. While in this process, their caps look like they are dripping with an inky substance, which can be actually used to write with, if you don’t want to cook it into your soup, that is.
