“Welcome to the party!” Nova greets you with a flap of his wings, the garlands dropping a few petals as he does. “We’re just about to get started. Have you ever done this before?” He barely waits for an answer before he trots over, herding you into the camp with an outstretched wing.
“This is a grand tradition for us, and we’re so glad you’re joining, but turnout has been much higher than we expected and we’re a bit low on a few supplies. We’ll need your help to gather them before we can enjoy the meteors.”
He shows you to the centre of the camp, a few meagre piles of sticks and stones lying next to a single lonely crate of food. “This is meant to be a party! We planned for one or two of us, and now there are hundreds of dragons here! We need more supplies, and quickly. The meteors start falling tonight, so let’s take this day by day.”

Day One
Nova flaps his wings to gather your attention. “Alright, let’s get these fires started! We can’t sit around and wait for a week with nothing to keep us warm. We’ll be needing all of the items below to light enough fires for this crowd.”
Firestarter
Organics
These baubles spontaneously produce embers. Great for starting a campfire, great for burning your den down.
21
Highland Dryleaf
Plant
This hardy plant is sometimes the only sustenance found for miles. It also tastes awful.
15
2
Bottled Embers
Trinkets
What is captured must be quickly released or smoke will be all that remains.
25
Extinguished Jackalope Pelt
Organics
May be used in the crafting of fire-proof gear.
25
Silk Spool
Organics
A strong, soft thread used in the creation of fine garments.
20
Firestarter x 10
Highland Dryleaf x 9
Bottled Embers x7
Extinguished Jackalope Pelt x 5
Silk Spool x 7
“I hope you’re not too tired!” Nova barks you awake before the sky is even light, the embers still glowing in your campfire. “We don’t have time to doze! Up, up, up! There’s work to do!” He taps the soil with his claw as though you’re likely to go back to sleep. “We’re making sleeping bags today, and you’ll get to use them when you’re done.”
Cave Gecko
Meat
The stripes along a cave gecko's hide become bio-luminescent when it senses danger. Not nature's proudest moment, there.
50
6
Shimmering Cloth
Dragonmade
Dragons without bright colors will sometimes adorn their wings with bits of shimmering cloth.
26
Shadow Serpentskin
Dragonmade
Discreetly gifted to let dragons know there's a snake among the clan. When this warning is not heeded, a live shadow serpent is often the next 'gift'.
26
Spore Spreader Moth
Insect
While not a traditional pollinator, these insects spread mushroom spores throughout a cave.
26
3
Violet Betta
Seafood
While reds and blues abound, breeding a true purple betta is quite the achievement! It's a shame this one is dinner.
25
3
Cave gecko x 5
Shimmering Cloth x 9
Shadow Serpentskin x 7
Spore Spreader Moth x 10

Get up, the weather might turn today and we’re going to need some tents. I’ll take care of assembly, just bring me the parts!”
Umbral Yarn
Dragonmade
A coil of dusky yarn, spun from the silky hair of the Umbral Wolf. It produces a faint howling sound as it unravels.
33
Lost Lute
Trinkets
The forgotten instrument of a passing bard. The strings are fraying and the wood paneling is starting to dry up and pull apart. A sad sight for avid musicians.
33
Ghostcrab
Seafood
This crab haunts beaches, not dragons.
30
3
Umbra Parthenium
Plant
A night-blooming plant, Umbra Parthenium is irresistible to herbivorous dragons.
28
3
Duskrat
Meat
The days are much too bright for the Duskrat, thus they only come out at night.
20
2
Umbral Yarn x 8
Lost Lute x 5
Ghostcrab x 7
Umbra Parthenium x 8
Duskrat x 7
You drag yourself back to the camp after a full night of gathering, exhausted. Dread settles in your stomach as you find Nova waiting at your tent for you, eyes bright. “This is my favourite part. Entertainment! Everyone here arrived a week in advance of the real show, and they’re starting to get bored. Go and find some good campfire stories. The spookier the better!”
Book of Urban Legends
Trinkets
Tales of dubious validity. Hatchlings can't seem to get enough of them.
37
Stardust Sap Lamp
Trinkets
A specialized lamp that uses sap from birch trees in the Starwood Strand. It emits an eerie blue flame.
41
Siltvine
Plant
The ground stems of the siltvine can be used as the last important reagent to activate a bubbling poison, or sprinkled on foods to bring out their flavor. Risk or reward?
37
4
Cumulus Mane
Organics
A clan that gathers a large quantity of these manes can influence the weather in their region for a short period of time.
37
Ash Logs
Organics
Would be useful against vampires if vampires existed.
25
Book of Urban Legends x 4
Stardust Sap Lamp x 5
Siltvine x 10
Cumulus Mane x 8
Ash Logs x 6

Firebelly Scorpion
Insect
True to its name, the firebelly scorpion's venom first makes its presence known by the burning sensation in the victim's abdomen. Food poisoning at its worst.
38
4
Coiled Burnserpent
Meat
Mysteriously hot-blooded for a reptile, the burnserpent uses its body heat to startle predators while it wriggles away.
38
4
Wolpertinger Hoodie
Trinkets
The Wolpertinger has garnered enough of a cult following in Sornieth to justify its own merchandise line.
44
Bulrush
Plant
When not consumed, bulrushes are popular for crafting woven baskets and wreaths. When consumed, they're best boiled or steamed to soften their thick exterior.
40
4
Soft Muff
Trinkets
Just as effective as a standard muff, but much softer.
44
Firebelly Scorpion x 8
Coiled Burnserpent x 6
Wolpertinger Hoodie x 4
Bulrush x 6
Soft Muff x 5
“Just two more days to go until the party!!” Nova pokes you awake with a claw, still unbearably cheery for so early in the morning. “Today’s a good one. Decorations! And some more campfire stories. We’ll never get bored of those.”
Scroll Case
Trinkets
A scroll case in pristine condition. It's empty.
15
Enchanted Candle
Trinkets
Just the sort of thing you wouldn't want to see floating on its own at the end of a dark hallway.
47
Fire Flower
Plant
Consuming this flower gives dragons of the fire flight the sudden urge to channel their magic into projectile spheres of flame.
42
4
Cerdae Sparkle
Organics
Cerdae shed has fallen out of favor as a light source in recent years. Recent acquisitions of the material produce a sickly red glow.
48
Tales of Terror
Trinkets
A dusty moth-eaten tome pocked with glowing eyes. It's pretty safe to judge this book by its cover, though it might be a good idea to wait until it's not looking right at you.
47
Scroll Case x 7
Enchanted Candle x 4
Fire Flower x 10
Cerdae Sparkle x 5
Tales of Terror x 3
“One more day,” Nova seems much more serious today, wings folded, sitting at the embers of the campfire you fell asleep at. “Now this one, this one is my real favourite. We’re going to gather the snacks!”
Book of Eldritch Horror
Trinkets
A bit literal.
53
Flameburst Waterstrider
Insect
This insect controls neither flame nor water.
42
4
Luminous Almonds
Plant
Almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
42
4
Mammertee Plushie
Trinkets
What if your lair was full of hundreds of these? Think about it.
53
Sugarmelon
Plant
Though it is technically classified as a fruit, this melon is not considered to be particularly nutritious.
43
5
Book of Eldritch Horror x 4
Flameburst Waterstrider x 9
Luminous Almonds x 7
Mammertee Plushie x 3

Day One
Your hard work is paid off by the warm glow of firelight around you, casting long shadows across the evening camp. One or two comets fall in the night, few and far between, each of them celebrated by a cheer from the crowd. Night one is a success, but it could use a little something more...

Day Two
The sleeping bag is cosy warm and the sky is a brilliant purple as you tuck in for the night. You count five comets, each one bigger than the last, the final one lighting up the sky in the early hours of the morning. You fall asleep satisfied and comfortable, listening to dragons settling in around you.

Day Three
The sky is stormy, but the tent is warm and lined with thick fur. You tuck into your sleeping bag and curl up inside, poking your head out to try and catch a glimpse of the comets through the roiling clouds. While the sky blocks your view, lightning and shooting stars create a glowing light show through the night.

Day Four
The clouds have cleared up tonight, the sky glowing a bright, vivid purple above you. You stay out in the open to sit at the fires, listening to the campfire stories of your peers, each one spookier than the next. You curl up to watch the comets, feeling a little paranoid about the shadows they cast on the Wood.

Day Five
The wind is bitter tonight, but you choose to sit outside anyway, bundled in furs. You’ve never seen the sky glow quite like it’s glowing tonight, crisp and clear of clouds. The comets start before night even sets in, first one or two and then a steady stream, each one leaving a trail of bright sparks lingering behind.

Day Six
The camp glows with hanging lanterns and candles, swinging in the vigorous wind. The sky glows even more brightly to match, the shadows of the Wood chased away by soft purple light and gently flickering fires. You move between fires tonight, listening to stories and watching a river of comets burn their way to the ground.

Day Seven
There are no shadows in the Wood tonight, cast away by the bright purple glow of the meteor storm. Dragons are gathering from all corners of the camp, staring at the sky with an air of anticipation. You sit in the entrance to your tent, eyes wide as the true comets begin to fall, each one as big as a boulder hanging above you. They glow with a halo of fire as they carve through the atmosphere, surrounded by a hundred smaller comets raining down around them.
You find the time to wander the camp as the sky falls above you, browsing tables piled with food and drink, hatchlings chasing each other’s tails while their parents are transfixed by the storm. The lanterns, tents, campfires and decorations are nothing compared to the glowing meteors that illuminate the party.
The final comet makes its way across the sky at dawn, falling below the horizon as the sun rises behind it. You make your way slowly back to your tent as it disappears, full of food and exhausted, curling up to spend the day in a well-deserved bed.
