The long wait has ended! Generation 1 begins nesting today!

I've moved into a daily hatch nesting format since the last phase ended, so I'm only starting one nest today. Pair VIII: Life, Uh, Finds A Way sit uneasily between green and gray and their offspring predictions are overwhelmingly psychedelic fade/blend/smoke. They gave me two eggs. The next ping you get from this thread will be for this hatch.

Since I don't have much else to report today, here's some summary statistics from the bottleneck thus far:
Primary genes (gen 0): 15
Most abundant primary: Jaguar
Primary genes (gen 1): 11
Most abundant primary: Jaguar/Fade

Secondary genes (gen 0): 14
Most abundant secondary: Butterfly/Noxtide
Secondary genes (gen 1): 9
Most abundant secondary: Noxtide

Tertiary genes (gen 0): 12
Most abundant tertiary: Capsule
Tertiary genes (gen 1): 7
Most abundant tertiary: Capsule

Diversity is plummeting! Will the most abundant genes lose their top spots? Or will they sweep the population and hold out to the end? Sorry, this isn't ecology...

I know that you like fade, but I think jaguar is cuter, so if it ends up being one of those I'm hoping for jaguar.

Pair VI: Emperor Bait nested today. Two eggs, not bad. The previews are like a dark, moody fade/blend fever dream, and it looks like smoke and thylacine are going to have a fight, not sure what we'll end up with.

Two eggs again? What is this bounty? I am overcome by dragons!

Yeah, not impressed with performance so far this round.

Pair IV: Sandy Eyeburners nested today. I don't know if I'd prefer a spiral or a ridgeback, so I guess I'll just hope the colors are good. Previews look desert-y and also a mess. Why did I do this to myself?
