My progens had just hatched another nest, a pearlcatcher x obelisk pair with two (two!) obbies and a pearlcatcher, and each obbie had inherited a rarer gene. These challenge spirals by contrast, well... they're all spirals, they all have hex and capsule, they all have gira... wait a second, that's not giraffe! That's right, we got a primary gene upgrade this round! Even better, it's on the pink baby! Pink dragons, here we are :D This generation's naming theme is candy because they all look like skittles. Meet our heir this round, Taffy! With her stunning pink smile, the elegant skink gene, and a near XXY coloration, she really is a looker. I have high hopes for her and her children, and I'd totally keep her if it weren't for the rules of this challenge. While she didn't inherit an upgrade, I am a big fan of how vibrant she looks. She kinda looks like she could be a spiderman and I am here for it. While she isn't my favorite of the bunch, she still has quite the charm to her. Orange and blue work incredibly well together after all. I went out of my way to find a pink lad to keep pink in the running, and what do you know, he's literally the FR color Pink! I quite like him, I think he and Taffy are going make charming babies. I'm just hoping for a breed upgrade now because we are now on our sixth generation with spiral heirs. Nothing against spirals, of course! I just really want something new. I'm not expecting much else, though, since we're hitting gem gene territory and oh boy that's going to take an RNG miracle. Doable, of course - I've done it with non-challenge pairs by accident - but still an absolute pain. I'm definitely going to be happy with these kids regardless of the outcome, but I'm really hoping for an obelisk!

There's still more generations to go, don't worry. What has happened is that our heir got two - two! - upgrades! We've finally gotten an obelisk, and with a secondary gene upgrade to boot! Gotta be honest, after winning a Roundsey earlier this week I was a bit worried that my FR luck had all gone to that, leaving me with nothing for this challenge. Apparently, I was wrong and thank goodness too! After what, six generations of spirals I was starting to loose hope that we'd ever see the end of that. The naming theme this round is flowers! And now, the heir. Meet Rose, the prettiest pink and blue obelisk you've ever seen. Everything about her is just so perfect! If I weren't trying for triple gem genes and breed, I'd end this challenge here and now. Since she'll only be here for a bit though, everyone make sure to give her a warm welcome. Not only did she pop out as a fine little obelisk, but she also decided to be born with toxin. I'm glad she was - I'm not a huge fan of the glitched giraffe and hex on obelisks. He's a very tropical little lad who also showed up with toxin. I guess he really wanted a shot at being the heir, but Rose stole his spotlight from him. He's very cute though! Petunia has a lovely set of colors, but no upgrades to speak of. Too bad! The market loves triple gem genes and imperials after all. This meant I could afford to be picky about colors. I want to keep the pink/blue/blue all the way to the end, even if I have to dig a little to find it. As such, I found this perfect little imperial boy Zinnia! Pearl is the very last pink before you get into whites, so he's going to give us a very nice range of pinks. It took a bit of searching to find a kiddo with a blue range secondary and tertiary - there was a 50kt nocturne I would've settled for if I hadn't stumbled upon Zinnia. Unfortunately, he was born only a few hours before Rose, so we'll have to wait for his cooldown to be over first. I'm really hoping he passes on his breed so we can get straight to taunting the RNGods for that 3% chance of gem genes and breed. Ooh, nice one! She's beautiful! I put Rose and Zinnia in the scrying workshop out of curiosity and whoa...good luck with the Toxin accent colors if the hatchlings inherit their mom's secondary gene. Great color range but some Toxin variants are wild! [emoji=obelisk laughing size=1]

They're my favorite pair so far, what could possibly go wrong? [img]https://i.imgur.com/R6Y0EDF.png[/img] ... Ah. Well folks, it looks like we've been wegged this time 'round. I'm crossing my fingers that the unfortunate single hatchling gets at least a breed upgrade, but since we're fighting 1/100 odds for practically everything except the breed, I won't get my hopes up too much.
