You are alone.

You don't know how long you had been traveling through the wastelands. Your secondary eyelids can only do so much to protect your eyes from the ash of your razed clan. The ghosts of your family and friends cling to your wings, dragging you down toward the earth. The eldritch horrors that destroyed your home had cruelly decided to spare you, and you have been doomed to spend the rest of your days desperately searching for any other dragons. A dragon without a clan could not hope to survive in this new cursed world.

Just as you are ready to give up for the night, you spot it. A faint glow of fire and some movement against the ruins of a broken nest. Two sets of eyes peer straight at you. One of the dragons raises a wing in greeting and you begin your wary approach.

NEW BEGINNINGS

So it's been a hot minute since I've last been on FR, so what better way to restart than by doing a literal extinction event! This play through is a modified version of the original Pinkerlocke Challenge with an additional RNG element added because I simply want more things happening at once. Mostly creating this thread for my own reference, but feel free to comment or whatever if you'd like!

RULES

General Rules:

Start with 3 level 1 xyz dragons, the cheapest ones on AH. Exalt all other dragons in your clan and hibernal den.
Pull from Pinkerton's pile and roll 1-200 daily to generate two events
Award your dragon accordingly based on their level milestones
Exalt dragons who: Run out of HP, faint in the coliseum, starve, don't survive birth, or when events dictate it
Safe dragons: Nesting dragons, lv 25 dragons, or as dictated by the event
Lv 25 dragons are immortal and should be moved to the hibernal den

Objective: Max out the hibernal den with immortal dragons and rebuild the clan!

RNG

Use a random number generator to randomly pick a number between 1-200. Follow the instructions based on what you get.

1-50: Strike. Your clan is under attack! Flip a coin for each eligible dragon. Heads= they survive and nothing happens. Tails= They get one strike.

OTHER RULES AND TIPS

You are free to gather, play in the fairgrounds, buy/sell whatever you want in the marketplace and AH (besides dragons), sell items direct from your hoard, open chests, interact with your familiars, and do dailies as much as you want. You'll want to expand your hoard and treasure as much as you can!
Battle items can be equipped at any time.
Unhatched eggs can be hatched at any time, but you must still flip a coin to determine survival. You CAN spend your treasure/gems on eggs, but that is honestly a waste of money if they don't survive.

Chronicler
Chronicler couldn't remember much of life before the Great Purge on account of him being a wee hatchling. What he did remember was befriending a fellow lonely hatchling named Nimue and traveling through the wastelands together before arriving at New Beginnings. The yin to Nimue's yang, Chronicler loved stories and drinking tea by the fire. Chronicler died of mysterious circumstances.

Cinan
Arriving on the 13th day of the clan's existence and on the day of hatchlings Evika and Merwin's deaths, Cinan's appearance could not be more inauspicious. Unfortunately, his time with the clan was cut short mere days after his arrival. Truly an unlucky dragon.

Gertrude

Deep in the ruins of an abandoned Shadow lair, three dragons sit around a fire. Zero and Acel huddle across from Elderyth, who busies herself with the rations Zero offered her as Zero and Acel pretend not to watch.

*Whispering* "I'm tellin' ya, Ace. I think we can trust her."

*Acel peers nervously at the newcomer.* "I don't know... what if she's been infected?"

"We won't survive with just the two of us anyhow. If she is infected, well, we can figure out what to do then."

"I dunno..."

*Elderyth looks up from her food. She clearly heard their conversation, but still speaks earnestly.* "Look, I get why you don't trust me. I wouldn't trust me either, given the circumstances. But I swear I'll earn my keep. If you give me the chance, of course."

Zero turns to Acel expectantly. After a long pause punctuated only by the crackling of the fire, Acel finally sighs and nods reluctantly.

"Great! We're headin' out for a hunt in a bit. You don't have to come with if you're tired, but if you wanted to prove yourself, be our guest."

*Elderyth swallows the last of her food and jumps to her feet, her eyes bright.* "Ready when you are."

The trio make their way through the wilds. Even with their relative inexperience, they make quick work of the beasts in their path. Soon their baskets are full of an assortment of meats and vegetation, as well as some trinkets and materials. It is strange that despite the Great Purge, the world is still teeming with life if one knew where to find it. Luckily, Acel did. As the young clan settles down for the night, Acel offers to take first watch. Elderyth and Zero lay curled around their new nest, two perfect little eggs nestled between them. Elderyth shifts to face her mate, his figure barely visible in the dark save for his bright blue eyes gazing back at her.

"Can't sleep?"

*Nods* "Yeah. I'm just really excited to meet our babies. We have so much to do before they get here! Our stores are still tiny, there's next to no bedding. Zero, we don't even know if they'll..."

"...If they'll survive?" *Elderyth nods again* "They'll survive, El. I'm sure of it."

Just as Elderyth opens her mouth to respond, they hear Acel screech a warning. Gesturing to Elderyth to stay with the eggs, Zero scrambles out of the den to help his clanmate.

Outside, Acel is in the air, buffeting her wings at strange ghostly shades. They try to surround her, but she only barely manages to hold them at bay. Zero calls out to her, only to have the shades notice him and rush towards him impossibly swiftly.

"Don't let them touch you!"

Too late, one shade manages to connect with Zero's shoulder. For a few moments, Zero is paralyzed with white-hot fear. His mind blanks, replaced only with pure terror. Then, just as suddenly, the feeling disappears. Zero gasps. His throat feels raw like he had been screaming. Above him, Acel drives away the shade that had attacked Zero.

Steeling himself, Zero launches himself into the air and helps Acel corral the shades away from the den. Finally, as they reached the edge of their camp, the shades retreated. Once they were sure the attack was over, Zero and Acel collapse to the ground, exhausted.

"You okay?"

*Shudders* "I... I think so. One of them touched me, and it felt horrifying. What were they?"

*Shrugs* "Some kind of life force-draining monster. A horde of them took out my first traveling party. You're lucky it only touched you for a moment."

The pair trudge back to the den. Elderyth rushes out and immediately starts fussing over both of them. They both assure her that they are unharmed. But as she catches sight of Zero's blue eyes, she can't help but notice that they are slightly less bright.

Pink: Familiar, newcomer. Sofi the male Mirror dragon has joined the clan!

*Spreading her wings wide and baring her teeth* "Don't get any closer! Who are you and what do you want?"

*stammering but still trying to act brave* "I-I-I'm Sofi. I-I'm l-lost. Please don't h-hurt me..."

"'Don't hurt-?' Pfah! Some Plague dragon you are. Why shouldn't I just chase you off our territory and leave you to the shades right now?"

As Sofi is about to respond, he notices Elderyth approaching. He flinches at the sight of the much larger dragon, but relaxes when he sees her curious and warm expression.

"Hello there! I'm Elderyth, one of the dragons of our little clan. Is Acel bothering you?"

*Barely turning to acknowledge Elderyth, keeping her eyes on the newcomer* "I was just about to chase this trespasser off our territory."

*In a sudden burst of confidence and desperation* "I'm a healer! I know my herbs and healing magic. I can fix wounds and I learn really fast. And, and-" *faltering after catching Acel's softening gaze* "I-I can f-f-fight if I need to."

Elderyth and Acel share a glance, their thoughts turning to Zero resting back in the den with the eggs.

*Hopefully* "Can you heal shade wounds? Like, the black spot that appears when one of them touches you?"

"Oh, y-you mean the Mark? Y-Yeah. I need some t-time to charge my m-magic. It d-doesn't always w-work, but I-I-I can do it."

Elderyth looks to Acel, eyes pleading.

*Sighs deeply* "Fine. Welcome to New Beginnings, Sofi. Please help us."
