He would feel bad if he had like... any capacity for emotions, but he doesn't, so there's that. Fact of the matter is he got into an argument with Aslesa over the rules they plan to implement regarding the magic ban. She would not budge and neither would he. Things were said that probably shouldn't have ([i]but[/i], he would later insist, [i]it's true[/i]), and in the end Twilight decided to play a trickier card: make the rules the way I want them, or I'm leaving and taking the bulk of Tech's brawn with me. He knew she wouldn't give in that easily, Aslesa wouldn't be the kind of leader she was if she did. However, in the long run (and Twilight had never been opposed to playing the waiting game), he knew she would crack and come begging for him to return. In the meantime, he was happy to settle among Magic and take advantage of its leader's spinelessness. ----- Frankly, she was just sick and tired of suffering loss after loss, failure after failure, wound after wound. And she always seemed to bear the brunt of it. At first, Gaellian had thought the problem was her. She was too weak to support their cause, not strong enough, tough enough. But as teammate after teammate crawled back bloodied after another failed battle, she realized the problem wasn't with her. It was with the entire faction. Petalpuff had said it best before he'd left: [i]Weak leaders don't win wars.[/i] And while Seran had never fallen in battle himself, he wasn't strong enough to protect his teammates. He wasn't strong enough to inspire strength in them. And while Gaellian didn't believe in jumping to whichever cause seemed most likely to win, she also didn't believe in dying for a cause, especially under the guidance (ha) of an ill-fit leader. She wasn't attacked as she left. No, Magic didn't believe in that kind of petty violence. She took a hard fall as she left (one she was glad no one had witnessed), and it only further solidified her thoughts that everything around this faction was set to harm her and she needed to get as far away from it as she could.
