[rule] [item=Redfin Belt][item=Blooming Strangler] Ok I actually don't have a space available, due to dom activities! So I decided to make an extra long story instead :) Here you go, as promised! [quote] Xavia and Gavina guarded their last egg. They had three, but the first disappeared while Gavina guarded. The second disappeared soon after, while Xavia was there. They decided to stay with the last one together, ready to defend it from the smoke that took their first two hatchlings. Xavia was singing to the egg. Nobody else would understand the words, but the song was meant to encourage the hatchling inside, while also soothing it, and hopefully making it feel happy and loved. When the egg cracked, the singing stopped. Xavia held her breath as she watched the egg hatch. She could see the rough shape of a snapper inside of it. Grey, and striped. But there was some purple, too. She didn’t get the chance to look too closely. Because soon, Gavina shrieked. Xavia didn’t have to guess what he was alarmed about, as she already saw the smoke cover the egg. The hatchling inside was no longer visible through the smoke. Xavia shrieked too, and quickly moved herself over the egg, careful to not crush it, but still tight over it. She didn’t know what good this would do for her, but she refused to just helplessly watch the egg disappear. She felt the egg under her collapse, and simultaneously felt her hope collapse along with the egg. It was gone, her last hatchling had disappeared. The smoke left the egg and vanished, but Xavia remained like that for some time. Until, finally, she got up from the egg and looked at it. It had collapsed into a pile of eggshells now, and there was no hatchling to be seen. Xavia roared. It was loud, and filled with anger and sadness. Gavina lowered his head, and let himself fall onto the ground. When Xavia had to stop for air, a small familiar noise came from the eggshells. It was the song she had sung to it before, but it sounded small and scared. For a second, the two dragons froze and stared at the shells. Xavia then lifted a claw, and carefully moved the shells around, until she could see a tiny shape hidden under the shells. It was grey, and striped. With a bit of purple. A small fae dragon. It looked up at Xavia with wide red eyes. Xavia scowled. The smoke had changed her hatchling to a fae. Anger flared in her chest, and clearly showed up in her eyes, since the small fae flinched and started trembling. When she noticed, Xavia instantly calmed down. “Oh no, no, it’s okay.” She softly whispered to the hatchling. “I won’t hurt you. Oh, you poor thing, I’m so sorry.” She curled around the hatchling. “My sweet little baby. You’re alive.” [/quote] And as a bonus, these two!
