Challenge 23: Research Invasive Species

The Snakehead Fish is an invasive species within the United States. The fish is native to parts of Asia and Africa, but many fisheries wanted to breed the fish to sell because of how often they can breed. The fish could lay up to 150,000 every two years or so, which is a crazy number to think about. There are not usually natural predators, so it makes it easy to continue to breed without any predators. The fish can also breathe air, making it easy for the fish to escape and stay on land for a short period of time. That's nuts!

Evergreen looks over at the young hatchlings, all of them aching to hear another one of his great stories. A young hatchling peeps to hear about the story of the Kraken, and Evergreen chuckles.
"Oh, alright alright..." Evergreen clears his throat and looks at the hatchlings.
"Once a long time ago, a young dragon, a little older than all of you, decided to take a nice trip to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. He had to give a present to his mother who lived deep in the Leviathan Trench. He began to fly over the Fishspine Reef until this dragon saw a shadow under the water. This dragon didn't pay any mind to the shadows, believing that the shadow could be a whale or other large creatures that live in the Trench. He began his descend toward the Trench until he finally entered the deep blue water. He noticed there were no other dragons around, which was quite uncommon. He looks around and sees another large shadow. The shadow was long, humongous. He has never seen a dragon that big before. He continues swimming until he hears a loud
ROAR! The dragon turns around and sees the shadow coming towards him! He begins to frantically swim faster, his wings aching. The shadow swims underneath him, and the dragon sees large teeth and long, long tentacles.
ROAR! The dragon begins to scream, frantically trying to find somewhere to hide. He begins to swim towards the surface, faster and faster and faster. The young dragon breeches the surface. He flies higher and higher when the shadow emerges from the water. A shadow, but also a monster. The monster has long tentacles and a large head. The young dragon screamed! Tentacles reached from the water to grab the dragon from the air, a large head emerges from the water. The Kraken emerges from the water, as large and as horrifying as the dragon has heard! The dragon flies away, far and fast. He'll visit his mother another time because it wasn't safe to turn around then."
The hatchlings begin to clap, asking for more.
"Maybe another cryptid story tomorrow, okay?" Evergreen says with a smile and ushers the young dragons out of the library.
