Hi guys, I'm just new here and was looking for some tips on writing bios for my dragons! Everyone here seems so nice so I thought I'd ask :) x

@NewHope @nargothrond Welcome to the writers' chat (and Flight Rising in general, I guess). It's great to have you!

As far as writing dragon bios...well, we all seem to go about it differently. For me, it helps to dress them up first because that gives me a sense of their personality. I also tend to add connections to other dragons in my lair (or other lairs if the dragon was born elsewhere). You can pull in bits of lore about the different dragon breeds and inter-flight relations as you get more familiar with them. I guess the most important thing is to have fun with it...and don't feel like you're tied to a bio once you've written it! I've had to go in and update older bios as new things happen in the lair.

Also...if either of you (or if you know any other new folks) are looking to add to your lairs, all of the dragons on pages 5 and 6 of my lair are up for grabs. Usually Wind flight has a pretty good giveaway thread, but this time around it's not as organized and it's closed for donations. I like to pass dragons on to new folks when I can, so let me know if you take a shine to one of them and I'll send it over. :)

*pokes her head in again* I GOT A PELT! Actually, I got two. I put one on this guy, and am using the other to try to drive down prices in the AH. They started out at 500k, and people were undercutting by 1T, so I've been undercutting by 25k and 50k. Seems to be working, almost down to 100k now. (If I list one for a fair price, it just gets snatched up by someone who will sell it for higher, that is why I am using this strategy). While stalking the pelts, I also got one of the shirts! *whew* Just finished another 1,000 words on Songseeker, and now it's up to 10,300 words! Slowly but surely. But my working time fled, and it's time to get back to motherhood work!

@chalcara Bramble's had a hard life! D: I hope he catches a break.

I usually try to think of some little story I can tell about my dragons for their bios, and interweave it with my other dragons so that the story of my lair grows with every bio. But I am not very organized about it.

Also, I have a lot of romances. Because I am a sucker for romance.

I keep a thousand + food points of everything except insects. Because my dragons eat too many bugs. Gross, you dragons.

I am aaaaalmost done getting my last gathering skill maxxed, though, and then I can gather bugs instead of scavenging. \o/

You guys, I think I might ACTUALLY declare victory on editing instead this month instead of just pretending I'm going to. :D I really am getting pretty close to the "done all I'm gonna do" point.

I do have to go put in chapter breaks, I suppose. I mark scene breaks with an asterisk between blank lines, but I don't really care whether books have chapters or not, so I don't think in chapters. Still. Sort of thing most readers expect.

@SadariEvenstar @LadyRowyn I thought it was pretty sad myself, until I realized that Drought's solved her own problem. She fixed things! Good for her. :)

@nargothrond Like @PocketTheSaurus, it helps me to dress the dragons to get a sense for their personality. I find if I can't figure out how to dress them, I usually end up selling them. >.>
