TOPIC | Levelling to 25
i have a lot of different trainers so ig it's really more "what build do i not use" lmao
i've got a mire fisher (Princess), a slightly modified mire millionaire (Spell), a ghostbuster (Beauty), a ruins meditate monk (Arana), a roost rustler (Sugarberry), and a weird custom built 25 who just exists to clobber birds into submission (Anemos)

when i commit to leveling a dragon, i usually pick one venue and one trainer / training style and stick with that until i reach my goal, but i don't level every dragon the same way. so i guess i stay in one venue for any given dragon, but i mix it up over all depending on what i need / am feeling like

i prefer to get dragons leveled quickly in usually one to three big bursts mostly because it stresses me out if i have a partially leveled dragon sitting around for too long, but there's plenty i have leveled little bits at a time when i have a spare moment to go. normally if i'm committing to All At Once leveling, i'll usually train fodder alongside them so i can feel more productive, earn some treasure on the side, and have built-in breaks to pace myself. my harpy's roost pair only has room for one trainee at a time though, so that's normally the venue i fall back on for leveling only a little at a time (at least until i get the other roc)

for mid-level dragons it depends Entirely on their future purpose. sale dragon? i don't touch them. fodder dragon? all into stats that make them better meat shields. sometimes for dragons who already have a specific build in mind, i might begin adding their stats as they level up if it doesn't interfere with their build and it helps level them up quicker. i.e. with anemos, once she hit level ~14ish i started playing with her stats and stones to figure out what worked, since the dragon who was training her was meant to be one she assisted anyways it worked well to figure out how they worked together

most of the dragons i've leveled are ones i've kept myself as my own trainers and grinders, but i did use to sell some of them, and there is a special subset of 25s i train that are Exclusively for starfall prelevels. for the ones i sold, i don't remember exact prices but they were pretty much all right around the ballpark of 200-250g, though some took longer to sell than others. prettier / more sought after traits definitely can go for higher, but the ones i sold weren't particularly remarkable so they went for pretty average 25 prices

for dragons i sold, the ones i trained were usually pretty fodder scooped off the floor for fun. for the ones i've kept, it's usually sentimental value, often element, and purely Vibes. specifically it's usually because the dragon happens to fit into both "one of my favorites" and "elementally useful for the specific build i want to put together". i love training my permas anyways, but the ones that Also match an element i need for a certain build just give me a much better excuse to level them

@Boops Your way sounds the most efficient! Just dump into VIT and DEF until they're fully levelled. I had thought that was probably right but I hadn't seen it spelled out before, that a part-statted dragon could be a liability rather than a help.

If I'm levelling to sell that means I'll probably need to factor in the cost of tinctures (either I eat the cost, or I need buyers who are willing to supply their own), but that's not a massive barrier. And yeah, levelling all the way to 25 while farming during microholidays and fests might in fact be just as good as levelling lots of fodder.

@ewerb Just brute force honestly.

Haste, rally and then eliminate untill you out of breath. If you managed to lower boss health at least by half and your dragon have hp for surviving at least 3 normal boss hits, go for it, if not - refresh. Then scratch, health potion after every boss hit (sometimes 2 potions in a row) and haste when it wears off (important!). Yes, you waste an unholy amount of potions (be ready for at least 10 potions every boss battle), but its nice to farm bosses while leveling fodder.

Also there is Golem Workshop 1-fodder build that can easily take bosses (I dont have it yet)

@ewerb if you have a lot of free time, you can level to 25lvl even in one day. I'm too lazy for that, so it usually takes for me from 2 day and to... When I feel to play Coli :D Yes, it's nice when you can combine. I also tried to play games, but found out I enjoy Coli more, so now I grind if I need currency or just bored and want to buy g1 fodders. As for getting currency, it can take longer time. Sometimes dragons can sit on AH for a whole week or more, but usually they are bought in a couple of days. But when you grind Coli, there are a lot of drops which you can sell. It's about 100k[emoji=treasure size=1] per day.

@Monteverdi That's the strat I'm leaning towards. I train a lot of fodder for Lightning pushes and when we're not pushing, I sell fodder for raffle tickets in other flights' OOF rafles, and sometimes win really awesome prizes. If I just don't have a pair to work on for any reason (fodder floor is too expensive, eg) then putting my L25 project in the second slot is pretty efficient. And when I eventually get a L25 after several weeks of this I'll be more excited than if I made myself grind for 4 hours, which isn't worth the pay-off to me.

@ewerb I hardly ever have 4 hours of time to myself that I can dedicate to grinding up a dragon so it works decently well for me. And hey, with some of the money you get from fodder training and exalting, if you really just get sick of leveling the perma with the fodder-method, then you can always just pay someone to level them the rest of the ways lol

I’m also on the Mire build boat, it’s just so easy. I level my permas (I’m a g1 clone lair and all my dragons need Glimmer Gene but it’s expensive, so they get it once they’re fully leveled). I do the two-fodder build for Mire with my perma and one fodder. I never do two permas at the same time because I need to make 1.2kg by the time my perma hits lvl25.

I’d say when I’m playing regularly it’ll take me about a week to fully level a dragon, but sometimes a bit longer than that to build up the necessary funds or find enough cheap fodder to finish leveling with. I never stat/stone the perma I’m leveling because I don’t mind the dead weight, though I’ve heard some people will put all the points into vitility to keep the dragon alive in coli longer. The best way to make money with Mire is selling the 4pt food stacks and melting down the familiars at Baldwin to sell.

I honestly don’t experiment with coli that much. I have two Mire flyers, a healer, and another dragon stated for all around use. Every other dragon I’ve leveled/stoned is stuck in the hibden for all eternity. I just like the idea of having a fully completed lair, all 25s, mostly clone (I can’t give up most of my old permas).

Many paths lead in the same direction.
@corrosivelimes Thank you, that's really helpful with the different builds! I probably don't have the patience to level in a few big blocks, but sticking to the same venue and trainer would certainly help with not having to keep track of which tactics you're using.

It makes sense to decide what to do with the mid-level dragons based on eventual plans for them. Thanks for spelling all that out.

I'm sort of getting to the point where I have Enough (TM) trainers. I am considering going for a wider variety of different builds though, and just hoarding L25s for the sake of hoarding, because having too many of everything is just my playstyle. But in general I'm leaning towards levelling to sell, so that means keep them as helpless fodder all the way up to 25 and sell them for the buyer to stat as they wish. 200-250g is a useful figure, thank you.

I don't think too hard about element at the moment and maybe that's the best way to improve my current team, lots of them are the 'wrong' element for their builds but I love them because they're permas.

@DaraHessesh So it's a matter of deliberately deciding to go for boss farming and being willing to use potions? Good to know, thank you. And thanks for the link to the GW 1 fodder build, that might be the next direction I take when I finally make it to two fresh new L25s. I use Clobber in Golem Workshop and Forbidden Portal, but that's a three dragon team and no use for training.

@bakaneko Yes, me too! I enjoy coli grinding far more than fairgrounds, so that's definitely the direction to take if I'm trying to make money. Mixture of selling drops and selling L25s sounds like it could be quite profitable.
