Finno-Ugric, noun: "wild forest." Wilderness; Remote, primeval forests; In a natural state; Unaffected by outside cultivation.
Rules & Guidelines
 • Adhere to usual roleplay etiquette: Read all the provided rules & information, no godmodding or metagaming, character actions don't reflect the roleplayer, communicate with each other, etc!
 • As the host, I have the right to refuse/turn away & accept applications and players as I see fit.
 • Communication is key, especially out of character! If any player wants to avoid certain topics, tropes, or storybeats, they're encouraged to set their boundaries as soon as possible. That also goes for the reverse! If anyone has ideas they want to put forth, or something they really want to include, talk about it~
 • If any players have qualms about anything, issues should always be discussed out-of-character. The bottom line is having fun, so clearing the air is important!
 • All information is of course subject to additions, changes, editing, or alteration. (I don't always word something the way I want to on the first try lol)
 • If you have questions about anything, don't hesitate to ask!

i'm only looking for players who are 18 - 20 or above! i simply prefer having players that are more in my age bracket, when doing limited groups like this :]
i'm also only looking for up to 3 players. i'd rather this be a more close-knit project!

i've had this concept stewing for a while now, & initially was going to keep it as a personal worldbuilding project. here's a moodboard for a loose idea of the environmental vibes ;]

the very basic premise is that our characters have been transported to a world that literally runs on game logic; the characters can access menus, personal stats, & inventories, enemies have visible health bars, weapons & armor effect personal stats, etc. with no memories or any idea of how they got here, our party has to navigate this digital world. will they look for answers about their pasts, or will they try and carve out a new life here?

the world they've been thrown into is abandoned. there were people here; just not anymore. there’s ruins, young structures, and yet… there’s no indication of anyone recently living here.

in terms of characters, this is an all-anthro/furry concept; any species would be allowed for anthros; insects, aquatic critters, dinos, you name it! mythical creatures as well, tho they wouldn't have magical abilities - or at least have extremely limited abilities.

the roleplay itself would run on a "checkpoint" system of posting, rather than a specific posting order. it's more like a posting "window," where players have a number of days to respond to the game environment, each other, NPCs, etc, in whatever order they want, instead of strictly waiting on the next person's turn to roll around. i'll soon link a proper example of the system via a google doc~

depending on the folks who are interested & their location preferences, this would either take place here on the forums, or a small discord server [for ooc talk] & google docs [for the roleplay itself]. i'd also be open for a third option, such as Toyhou.se, if any players have suggestions!

so, if this caught your eye, just drop a comment!
i'm subbed, so no need to ping

one final note - this isn't going to kick off right away; most likely, things will only start rolling sometime in mid april or later.

also snagged a player questionnaire that i like to use for these smaller groups! feel free to fill this out as your show of interest~

@Erst heyoo !! thanks for the interest :D wanna start off with the fact i love your writing style! i've currently only got the energy to read a little bit, but i'm loving what i've read so far. possibly expect some commentary on passages i really liked >:] hugeee same on the forced romance tropes. it takes a hell of an exception for me to flow with them [as i'm of the mind that just about any cliche can be "done well" in the right context], but generally speaking, i usually avoid them as well. yES love me some bodyguard types !!! also felt when it comes to playing like, stoic-but-not-mean characters. i'll admit i'm a littttle particular with found family, mainly because i've seen So Many people try & fit characters into the nuclear family box of dynamics- it's pretty boring when that's what's delivered, but when it actually Is found family? [emoji=familiar heart size=1][emoji=familiar heart size=1][emoji=familiar heart size=1][emoji=familiar heart size=1] i can always get behind some chosen family/loved ones, it's good stuff <3 oooo, real good questions >:0 i'd imagine you can only open "personal" menus when you're generally just out of danger/combat, but there might be a few that are only accessible in designated safe zones. as for others being able to see if/when you're in a menu, i was picturing something like a "physical" board popping up in front of the character, so yes! that said, you'd probably have to "turn it around" for others to view what you're looking at - like a clipboard, tablet, etc. skill leveling is an aspect i hadn't Quite thought about, but am considering linking a majority of to items. there's probably going to be some simple base stats [strength, dexterity, magic, maybe one or two others], which can be upgraded/leveled as you progress, train, etc. your gear is what sets you apart from someone with the exact same stats as you. characters won't be helpless without their gear, but i could see tools, weapons, armor, & artifacts playing a pretty big role in how the game logic determines physical & magical efficiency. sure, you could kill a slime with your bare hands - but that could take a while, & tire you out. this magical staff that shoots star-bubbles or this giant sword made of ice will do the job a lot quicker, and will waste less resources on your part!

hiya! thanks for the interest~ tho, i'm afraid i'm a bit hesitant about responses like "No preference" or "I'm fine with whatever," unless i'm super familiar with you as a player/person ^^" saying you're "open to anything" [barring subjects against FR's guidelines] doesn't really tell me, or anyone else, anything about what you are or aren't okay with.

and, "anything fantasy or science fiction related" is Really broad - is there any specific elements of either genre that you're drawn to in particular? like, just going off fantasy, do you lean more towards "classical" fantasy, [lord of the rings, old fairy tales], more "newer" flavors of fantasy, [delicious in dungeon, the elder scrolls], or stuff that breaks the usual mold [nimona, the wolf among us]?

also, apologies if i seem like i'm nitpicking ^^"" i don't intend to come off as mean or like, super particular- i'm only asking a bunch of questions because i don't have that much to work with or respond to on your end!

Oh the horror, I'm being perceived (but fr would love to hear feedback on my writing!)

I mean, I'm all for romance and finding ones place in the world and a healthy home with others, but it's gotta work out naturally yk? Forcing romantic or platonic relationships just ruins it for me.

I get what you mean about attributes/stats, yeah, but not quite what I meant. The initial thought was about stuff like the side things, like a character that spends a lot of time cooking might eventually get so good you can get small stat boosts from eating a dish, a character that uses their hands a lot getting a fitness bonus, and so on so fourth, but I realize now that's a very overcomplicated system n we should probably just base "skill" checks on related stats, with maybe some of those items/armor boosts where applicable, like an enchanted knife for cooking, picks for lockpicking, glasses for perception, on and on.

Yeah, having gear affect stats is probably one of the better ways to do it though, to balance out getting stronger with overpowering issues. Now the question is how do we get it? I assume most of it will be gotten through scavenging or defeating armed monsters/monsters guarding items, but will there be any chance to craft/enchant your own? Gather so many dragon scales and you can make a set of armor? Learn the runes to old spells from moulding books and carve them into your gear to give it magical effects? Take a few pieces of old gear n melt em together to make something new and maybe better?

My baseline for base stats is Strength(brutality), Agility(flexibility and speed), Intelligence(book smarts and street smarts), Vitality(health and resistance to conditions), and Mana(magic ability) if you wanted suggestions.

And finally, Id like to know about the ecosystem of enemies. Is it an entirely fantastical environment, where all the fantastic creatures are in natural harmony, have fantastic creatures just been dropped into what was basic Earth 2, is it like some hive mind/singular species that came in and wiped everything?

Here or Discord!

What's your general writing style like?
I'd say probably semi-lit atm? I'm trying to get back into writing after not being able to for a while, so it's a bit choppier than I would like atm! I may have gotten fully back into my rhythm by the time the rp starts though ^^

How much do you usually like to write?
2-5 paragraphs, depending on what's going on! I'll probably have shorter responses for conversations just because I find it clunky otherwise, but I love to set up a scene <3

What sense(s) do you like to focus on?
Sight and touch/the body I think! Again, I'm a bit out of touch with my own writing style atm, but my most recent stuff has had a lot of physical descriptors. It's not the best example of it, but here is my most recent on-site example! I was on a bit of a time crunch for this, so it is a bit choppy imo ^^; I can come back with a better example later if that would be preferable!

What are any hard limits you might have, regarding plot topics, tropes, genres, scenarios, storylines, etc?
Love at first sight, kidnapping, and obsessive/yandere tropes are mostly it for me!

On the flip side, what are some subjects, tropes, genres, or character dynamics that you absolutely can't get enough?
Found family for sure! I'm also very fond of the "emotionally stunted character realizes they were worthy of love/loved the people they care for the entire time" trope, if that makes sense? Also I'm a HUGE fan of pining, as long as it makes sense that the characters involved haven't just confessed yet lol

What kind of characters do you usually enjoy playing, or find interesting to explore?
I have a few types of characters that I really enjoy playing!
 • Upbeat character with Trauma trying to make sure no one else hurts like they did/is trying very hard to be fine about it
 • Snarky-but-not-cruel characters
 • Emotionally distant protector/guardian type
 • Character that's too curious for their own good. Would sell their soul for forbidden knowledge, equally likely to spend the entire day collecting different leaf samples
 • Regarding the favorite tropes thing, emotionally stunted characters that haven't quite decided if being emotionally stunted is something they want to/can fix or not

If you have a variety of archetypes you enjoy, what's your least & most played type(s), & why?
My most played would probably be the too curious or emotionally stunted archetype! I just find them to be the easiest to play, and think they have the most potential in terms of Things That Could Happen from the list above. My least played would probably be the snarky character, I worry too much about people thinking I'm mean ooc lol

Are there any specific element(s) of this premise you would want to explore in-depth?
I'm definitely interested in exploring the characters' relationships with their past and the history of the world they're in. Also how leveling/personal stats would work!
What name or nickname would you want to be called?
Echo or Em!
