The Outcasts
The Outcasts are a band of misfits and, well, outcasts. Any dragon who feels like they don’t have anywhere to belong may find a place among the Outcasts to do just that. They are an incredibly close-knit bunch and generally very accepting. They that their differences are what makes them stronger and that everyone deserves a second chance. This often comes off as surprising to outsiders as Outcasts tend to keep to themselves amongst other clans and are generally wary of strangers. They might need some time to warm up to newcomers, but once they do the newcomer is treated the same as any other members of the Outcast.

The Outcasts have a structure that is different from most clans. There are four ranks a member can have. The Representative is a leader of sorts. Once a year every adult member of the Outcasts can be elected as Representative. Their main responsibilities are keeping the peace amongst the Outcasts. If anyone has a problem they can come to the Representative and they will try to fix it. They can make minor decisions, but all major decisions must be voted upon. Another big part of their responsibility is to represent the Outcasts in meetings with other clans, which is there their name comes from. The Second Representative is the dragon with the second most votes in the election to the Representative. They assist the Representative in their duties and stand in for them if they are unavailable. All adult dragons are called Associates. They can vote in all elections and may choose to become a candidate for the Representative. All members below adulthood are known as Hatchlings. They don’t have any responsibilities, besides learning a job. All dragons no matter what rank they have have a job to contribute to the Outcasts’ survival. Most dragons are either guards or gatherers. Guards are the ones responsible for the safety of the island. Patrols and guard posts are organised by a head guard. Gatherers are divided into hunters, fishers, insect catchers, foragers, diggers as well as scavengers and provide the Outcasts with all necessary resources. They are organised by a head gatherer. The Lorekeeper is the Outcasts historian. They document everything important that happens and keep track of all current and former members. The Hoardmaster keeps track of everything the Outcasts own. While they prefer to keep to themselves, the Outcasts have a few merchants who trade with other clans for items the outcasts need. Other important jobs include alchemist, metalsmith, jeweller, tailor and healer.
