Oh yeah, some thoughts on dragon pricing:
Old dragons can be quite valuable. Dragons with 7-digit ID numbers (e.g. #1234567) typically sell for 400g+. Dragons that aren't quite that old, but still several years old, are often recommended to sell for 10kt/g per year of age. For example, a 7-year-old dragon would be 70g.
As for pricing new dragons:
- Exalting a dragon at level 7 gets you ~11kt, plus achievement credit (there's an achievement for exalting 5k dragons), plus (maybe) fest currency if there's a fest going on. So that's the baseline.
- Based on this, my "basic" price for dragons is 15g. I charge this amount for hatchlings from my variety pairs that turn out unexpectedly nice and I think "hey, someone may want this." If they don't sell for that price, I exalt them myself and get about that much value.
- For hatchlings from my "nice" pairs, I typically charge 30-50g. "A decent amount, but not too expensive" is my general thought.
- People who run hatcheries often charge more (50-150g). Often they breed for rare color combos and gene up their dragons from scratch, so their price reflects that. Also they advertise a lot and have fancy topics and breeding cards which definitely helps with getting a following.
- When a new gene/breed is released, dragons with that gene/breed will often be expensive. For example, the day after sandsurges were released, I gened up a pair, booned a nest, and sold the hatchlings for 650g each. Of course, that was a while ago. By now, sandsurges are quite common and it got so the hatchlings wouldn't even sell for 30g, so I retired that pair from active breeding duty. For stuff like this, the Auction House is your best guide - you just have to see what prices other people are selling for and follow the crowd.
