I've always wanted to do a quest where I take a trio of level 1 dragons to level 25, and write lore about them along the way. I was inspired recently with an idea for such a story, and this is the thread which I'm using to hold the long-form lore and talk about how the quest is going.
This is a very casual challenge for myself. I'm curious about the experience of raising dragons up to level 25 in the current form of the coliseum, and want to recreate the experience at least a bit realistically. As such, I've set myself a few loose rules to follow - more guidelines, really - that you can read about in the next post.

I've always wanted to do a quest where I take a trio of level 1 dragons to level 25, and write lore about them along the way. I was inspired recently with an idea for such a story, and this is the thread which I'm using to hold the long-form lore and talk about how the quest is going.
This is a very casual challenge for myself. I'm curious about the experience of raising dragons up to level 25 in the current form of the coliseum, and want to recreate the experience at least a bit realistically. As such, I've set myself a few loose rules to follow - more guidelines, really - that you can read about in the next post.
I have set myself a maximum budget of 5g and 50kt (a feasible amount within the first week if a new player is buying their food to keep their dragons fed, and does fairgrounds / misc tasks on the site daily, such as bonding with familiars and achievements/pursuits).
Currently at: 2/5g, 16/50kt
I will not buy battle stones* or tinctures of dissolution.
I will not buy a level 25 or elim-stone dragon, even if they are within the budget.
I will not use dragons I received for free in battle, even if this would be a realistic way for a new player to get dragons. (This applies to Vex.)
Overall: Don't do anything a fresh player (<1week on the site) couldn't do.
*I'm refering to ones posted on the auction house. I've allowed myself to buy aid off the treasure marketplace, but only because I had so many leafy packs that I could affort it off that alone, which in my book counts as fair game since it could be done by a brand-new player.
The goal:
Get three dragons to level 25, and capable of defeating a Fear Frog and a Terror Toad.
Simulate a new player's experience in the coliseum.
Create these dragons' setups using solely battle stones acquired in the coliseum.
Notes:
I can adopt more than 3 dragons, if necessary, but any adopted dragons must be at least 1 level under the highest level dragon in my existing team.
I can enter the coliseum without a full team, but in order to complete the quest, I have to get 3 dragons to maximum level.
If I get an egg through the coliseum, it is fair game to hatch it and use the hatchling as one of the dragons for the quest.

Half of the events the trio are subjected to are due to her unfortunate knack for poking the hornet's nest. She loves collecting trinkets and treasures, whether that be ancient artifacts, gold and gemstones, or funnily-shaped leaves.

A: Maybe. Vex and Hux are almost definitely off the table. I will likely keep at least one, and probably both, of them. Vale, Zyrephon, and Apsalara, however, might end up being sold if A) there is enough interest, and B) I have no further plans for them.

Finally, to practice storytelling for some of my more complex Lorebook projects I wish to do in the future.

A: Significant drops, progress from day to day (for both lore and coliseum), and general impressions of difficulty. I'm keeping a Journal in Hux's bio that you can check out for details on what I've been doing during the quest.

With no Aid in sight (haha), and having opened at least 65 leafy packs by this point, I bit the bullet and bought Aid from the treasure marketplace for 6500t, and applied to Vale. Drastically changed how I used him in battle, but definitely made a significant difference in survival rate / number of battles before needing to flee.
