The babies are silly-looking and I mean that as a positive. And the bookworm lore concept is one of my favorites out of all the breeds! I love archivist, writer, and librarian dragons very very much! Some of the new genes are amazing too and I'd love to see them expand to other breeds in the future, especially Sunsail. The color combos with Eclosion are also great.
I think it'll take time to get used to them just like with every other Ancient release, but I'm always gonna look for the positives in new designs. I'm excited to have some of these chonkers in my lair! (And also as someone who is fat irl, it's nice to see some of those traits reflected in-game, even if it's technically just a fictional dragon lol.)

I absolutely love these silly little guys!! I really like how different they are compared to the other ancients, and i think the light/shadow bug theme is so wonderful. theyre so cool and i already scried my two. surprisingly, their colors worked Really well together :] I'll probably figure out a jane prentiss fandragon (or at least her worms) later

I absolutely love these silly little guys!! The way they painted the genes on these guys is fantastic! I love how it highlights their features and just the attention to detail??? bravo!

I am SO excited that the artists went ahead and did something super unique with this design. It's very different from other breeds, and it combines elements in a way that feels different from a lot of them, too? Like, with the chubby caterpillar-like bodies combined with the spindly bug-legs, I would almost have expected another smooth-nosed cutesy face, but they have angular, prominent underbites! They took me by complete surprised and i adore them.
They also have, by far, my favorite terts I've seen so far. Spores on dusthides were my favorite of theirs, and now eclipse, glitch, eclosion, rift, even "just" gecko as a REALLY cool and nuanced variant of what polkadot does... The silkspot pair and throne pair, the two new prim/sec pairs, are so eye-catching too.
And then since this is an ancient, everything is so much cheaper for them! I've been having fun giddily scrying all day and just adore these new guys. I also find they look very polished and "finished" and have a depth to the shading and lines that I didn't really personally connect with on dusthides (despite loving the shape of them and their vibe overall). Even their wings, which I was momentarily disappointed they had at first - I was hoping for "just" the fin-like things in the teaser - have been put to REALLY great use with their genes, so I can't be upset.
And the poses are so dynamic! I love what the wings and bodies are doing in all of them. Just. ah!
Debating if I want to scatter my hatched eggs or just buy cheap XYZs off the AH on hatch day and pretend they were mine, lol.
So far I gened just this guy in full, with another on the way later after all the winter gifting events coming up:

As an entomology major, this is possibly my favorite ancient breed to date. Veilspuns were cool but just felt like a dragon with bug wings rather than a bug dragon(I still like them they just don’t read super bug) and I love how silly Aethers look but wish they didn’t have such smushed faces. Everluxes are just so great! The babies are so gunch and the adults are also gunch but also so cool looking, and the genes are awesome, and aaaaaa I just adore these guys! The negativity towards them has really been getting me down but I’m just happy others also love them.
