Skuttle is an archaic spelling of scuttle... but that's what it is, archaic. Skuttle doesn't mean anything in modern language... so it's really weird that they'd change it. Savannah -> Savanna (or the other way around, idk) made sense because it's just an american/british english thing

At first was also like 'why?'
But then something just clicked in my brain like it just made sense.
Here's what i found as well:
Here's what scuttle means with a light internet search:
"A metal container with a sloping hinged lid and a handle, used to fetch and store coal for a domestic fire - The amount of coal held in a scuttle" i.e. > "carrying endless scuttles of coal up from the cellar".
Here's what Skuttle means, according to the site Collins Dictionary:
"To run or move about with short hasty steps > a hurried pace or run."
Skuttle is also an archaic (old-fashioned) form of scuttle.
SO, essentially:
I think the change is meant to reflect a more correct or 'proper' form of the word, because what the Scuttle with a C means is a container for coal, rather than Skuttle with a K, which describes the movement itself.
Tldr: Skuttle is the more "correct" form of scuttle in this sense for a centipede-inspired gene.

That's because you're looking at the meaning of Scuttle as a noun. As a verb, it means to "run hurriedly or furtively with short quick steps."
"Skuttle" is an archaic version of Scuttle-- they mean exactly the same thing but "Skuttle" is not a recognized word in modern English. Most people would assume it's a typo. Basically, it's a really weird change !

It took me so long to remember the gene is called Scuttle and not Scurry and now this... It looks really off to me, though I suspect I'll get used to it eventually.
Besides, they could change the name to whatever they want, it's still the best gene on site. Give me more bugs. Give them to me. Give it to aethers. Give it to aberrations. Give it to Undertides. Give it to Veilspun. Actually, you know what? Give it to moderns. Let me be a bug-only lair. /lh
I do wish they'd explain the change, though. It would be way easier to adjust for me if there was a reason behind it and not just a random "we changed this".

it's not something atrocious and worth ranting over but also. why? skuttle reads like an username someone took after they noticed scuttle was taken.
I was also kinda bothered when savannah was changed to savanna, but at least that made sense, I guess. gonna get used to it.
