Fathom are fine. Didn't really feel too disappointed or happy at their design.
Just whatever, they're here. Okay.
Surprisingly, their posing is actually the most interesting part to me. Female Fathoms have their wings pointed downward without revealing the inner wing, making it so that apparel that is technically on the top or behind the wings are really visible and obvious, which isn't really something we have with most modern breeds. Female Imperials are our closest example, but Fathoms feel a bit more revealing than them, and I generally like that in wing posing!
Timekeeper looks really nice on them.

However, the downward wings create an issue that any back body apparel(waist, under wings, etc) are no longer neatly seen and straight up awkwardly sticking out most of the time, if they can be viewed at all.
These are suppose to be the aviator satchel and a waist frill, which are just barely visible under the wings.

This pose also ends up with a lot of scenarios where the gills by the chest end up hidden in some way due to genes, colors, or just apparel in general, which is unfortunate since it's one of it's main interesting features. It's similar to the Male and Hatchling poses in that way, but it's even worse for them.
Even genes like tiger make them look almost nonexistent.

So yeah, I guess this mean I hope in future more modern breeds come out with different body and wing posing for more versatile ways to show off apparel honestly. Thought I would be careful to make sure it doesn't come at the expensive of hiding cool unique features associated with the breed.
Fathoms are a step in a good direction, but still quite not there for me yet.
Edited: For mistakes.

I think they are lovely, and exactly what i would expect from an aquatic reptile! The only thing I haven't really understood has been the criticisms offered by others about them not looking like whales or dolphins. But I suppose that it's just a different manner of perspective? Either way one look at them and I knew they were based off of a fishy monitor lizard.

An actually aquatic looking aquatic breed. Though I do wish their wings were more sloped like seabirds—the F pose still gives off that illusion well. They could also do with broader tails, and I dont mean the fins but the tails themselves. I dont get the whole thing about their body type disappointing people, did you want a mosasaur instead?? These things still fly. They look plenty bulky even if the poses we got indicate a "slim" Fathom.
I genuinely dont like guardians. I dont even like the Tidelords design (blasphemy!). They are WAY too spiky to be good, fast swimmers. Guardians are just "dragon", not *aquatic* dragon. They are apparently supposed to be skinny because the spiky things are collapsible fans but theyve always looked more like stiff plates to me. And that beard is so out of place on an otherwise hairless dragon. Undertides got that sea serpent look down—Fathoms should absolutely replace Guardians.

As far as water breeds go, I think Undertides are my favorite, but I definitely prefer these to Guardians. I'm SO glad to have a modern water breed that I actually like the look of enough to have in my lair! Ancients are nice, but I love playing dress-up with the dragons.

I quite like them! The hatchlings are adorable, and both the male and the female poses wear many genes really well. I, too, wish they were a bit chunkier though.

now that i've had some time to sit with them: they've grown on me, and i like them quite a lot. they're definitely my favorite water breed by far. guardians are just okay and undertides are...probably my least favorite breed on the site. but fathoms strike a nice balance between cute and cool. i still strongly prefer the f pose over the others but most breeds have one pose that's just better than the others tbh.
